I originally purchased a Leatherman Wingman from Amazon because I knew the reputation of the brands high quality tools. The original Wingman I received was superb. This is just the right size for carrying in your pocket; if any heavier you'd need a belt holster (in my opinion).But the scissors never worked. They appear to be sharp, but the spring return mechanism never worked. After each snip I had to re-open them for the next snip. This seems picky, but scissors is one of the most common uses for these tools - that's why, along with the blade, they're on the outside of the handles so you don't have to open the whole thing to use them. I don't know if this is a design flaw or just a flaw on the one I got.Contrary to the description, all the blades do not lock in place. Only the blade does. The others just click into place.Otherwise, it seems like a good product. But I returned it.

I had a Wingman for about 2 years, carrying it daily on landscaping jobsites. For my particular use case, it was perfect. The pliers worked very well for detail work with small engines and having both main screwdriver types saved me numerous times. The scissors left something to be desired in terms of precision, but worked just fine for opening small packages and such. The package opener doesn't get nearly enough love. I used that tool almost more than anything else. Plenty sharp to open just about anything in a plastic clamshell and it works amazingly well on zip ties. I loved having a small blade that I knew wouldn't do too much damage if I accidentally punctured through whatever I was working with. I eventually replaced it with a Wave+ which I love for many different reasons, but to be honest, if forced to pick between the two I might pick the Wingman. The sprung pliers work much better for me on the Wingman. I find myself babying the Wave+ because of its price, whereas with the Wingman I never felt one bit of remorse beating the tar out of it because I knew it could take it.
I went through the custom shop for this and got some pretty cool artwork on it. I tried using it to convert a 100-foot 16/3 stranded-wire extension cord into a 28- and a 72-foot cord. I had a tough time cutting the stranded wire because the wire cutter blades don’t quite come together. The wire cutters on the Signal cut the stranded wire easily. The Phillips-head screwdriver worked well. I like the spring action on the scissors but found that the Juice S2 scissors work better. Horizontal carry is more low profile (less noticeable) and allows unobstructed access to back pockets. Since this is an EDC tool for me, the sheath is important and I went to some trouble to add straps for horizontal carry and remove the snap and apply Velcro so that the strap closes properly and actually fits the tool. Also, since this is an EDC, the less weight the better, however the knife blade is awfully thin, about 50 or 60% the thickness of the Signal and maybe even 75% that of the smaller blade on the Juice S2.
My ex stole my wingman so of course I needed to get a new one. Had it customized with my name and the finish is excellent, which I love because all the guys at work have one and are always leaving them around. Knive is great love it more then I expected. My only reason for not a 5 star is I feel the scissors which is why I have always loved the wingman are not spring loaded. Maybe my old ones where a garage design? Anyhow the super manual way to use those scissors is kind of pointless at least for my lifestyle. I work in a lumberyard and tool leather. I pretty much always have on me and love the build of all my Leatherman products. Size is great even in the front pocket of my women's wrangler jeans.
Overall it was a pretty good tool but within a month of purchase the pocket clip at bent out at such an angle that it became more of a hazard for getting caught on things then actually helping to keep it secure in a pocket. When trying to remedy this, the barrel nuts were tightened so hard that they stripped before even coming close to loosening up. After finally getting the pocket clip swung out to the side, it snapped clean off with a gentle force applied to bend it back into place. I purchased this model almost exclusively for the pocket clip but was very let down with the durability.
I've had mine for two years now and this thing's still going strong. I carry it with me everywhere I go, and even though some tools never get used (like the can opener), I still love the versatility. Reason I didn't give it a full five stars is that occasionally while using the screwdrivers or pliers, it'll feel like I'm about to break it with the amount of flex it can have with tighter screws, bolts, etc. I also used it recently near some dirt, and even though I knew it would get a bit of grit into the internals that I'd need to clean afterward, I didn't expect it to completely seize up like it did (can't even get the knife open without using some other pliers I have). The construction is great as with all Leatherman products I have purchased, and the tool is balanced well. Personally, the wingman was the best option for me as a first responder tool; however I wish I could find a specific tool very similar to the wingman that also encompassed a belt cutter with a small window breaker affixed. I could personally due without the small scissors, I understand not every single tool that has a pocket clip will encompass every single possible tool I may need.
