After seeing this in the NEW section of the shop I couldn’t wait to get and build this.Firstly if you’re expecting to build this in a few hours on your own forget it. This is a model that takes time to build and get right. When you build this you do need to ensure each stage is correct, as a few times the instructions aren’t clear and you go wrong, which means a small dismantling of stages. A small incorrect piece can cause a lot of problems down the line. A few times it’s not clear in the instructions where pieces go.Building the wings can be frustrating when some parts fall off or they collapse when connecting stages together, but once completed you get to realise the size and are just amazing .It’s big until you get quarter of the way through you get to ... MoreAfter seeing this in the NEW section of the shop I couldn’t wait to get and build this.Firstly if you’re expecting to build this in a few hours on your own forget it. It certainly is one of my most favourite models and build. If there is one criticism of it, I would have liked more internal details rather than just having the 3 rows of seats, and other details of this iconic plane .Maybe in time a larger version could be done with added details, even doing modular sized parts for mini figures would be great additions to this iconic aircraft .Overall worth the money, enjoyable to build and is just amazing to look at in every angle .

I had no idea Lego released this. I saw it and bought it without reading the review or description. Mainly because it released that day and I didn't want to lose the opportunity to grab one. To start with good first. It was not a complicated build, but it was a fun build. There are building technics I have not seen before. Mainly I love how the wings are not one solid piece like the other planes. The construction of the massive wing is unique. The retractable landing gear and tilting nose adds to it's overall appeal. I like the working flaps and the split rudder. The completed model is 3ft long and looks magnificent. The designers did a great job with giving it a nice sleek design. The parts that I am not to happy with are the nose gear. I know it is hard to make a ... MoreI had no idea Lego released this. I know it is hard to make a single nose gear that tall and have it be stable, but this one is pretty wobbly. If you move the aircraft in reverse, the nose gear starts to fold in on itself as the nose wheel twists around. Also as the plane sits flat on the table, the rear bogies don't sit completely flat on the ground due to the plane not sitting completely flat. It is really only noticeable if you roll the plane, then you notice all the rear wheels don't roll. Aesthetically, the plane looks great and functions well. It would be neat to see landing gear doors too. But over all, this is worth the money for the model.

I was lucky enough to get this early through the VIP scheme. And its a cracking set. I think itsbalso really good value for money, considering its size, number of pieces and the fact that there are no stickers, all tiles are printed.I had a few misteps with the build, because of the technic pieces you really have to concentrate. The most challenging one was the main wing. I had to disassemble it a couple of time around the undercarriage section, as I found I had put the wrong sized brick in the wrong place. And there are a ton on white pieces to this section of varying sizes.I was also worried at first that the undercarriage assembly was not working, but it all came together in the end.I also liked the orange pieces that you needed to use to strengthen the ... MoreI was lucky enough to get this early through the VIP scheme. But once you get further into the build, it feels a lot sturdier. And it is big...very big. But it looks incredible. And it's a satisfying build, apart from the few misteps I had which I put down to myself.A highly recommended set.

As an aviation fan, this set has instantly jumped to the top of my favourites list. For what is essentially a giant white tube, the diversity of building techniques, mechanisms and fascinating piece usage makes the 4 hour building experience captivating. It's display value, piece count, lack of stickers and impressive detail is exceptional for the price. Despite it's size, it is incredibly sturdy, can stand on it's own wheels and is super easy to carry. The size of the set is a bit dangerous however; it is absolutely massive. It is unlikely to fit on many shelves or display cases without significant overhang, so make sure you seriously consider and measure out your planned display location before purchasing. Only other gripe is that the white 1x4x3 bricks in the wings are a noticeably brighter white than the other bricks.Overall, (if you've got the space for it) this is one of the most impressive and creative display sets LEGO offers, and by far the best non-technic aviation set. Hopefully this is the start of a long line of commercial aircraft sets in ICONS line.
Please note that the following review is my personal point of view as an adult LEGO fan and builder. This (Tremendous!) LEGO Icons set features the iconic supersonic aircraft, the Concorde (CON), from British Airways and Air France. The 2083 brick elements will come together as one of the most decorative LEGO models on offer today, and in recent times. CON offers a fun but different building experience. The engineering and design behind the CON model unfold through a wealth of amazing, moving details. Final model measures approx. 100cm in length and approx. 45cm wide and sits on a beautiful display stand. The value of CON is very good considering number of bricks, physical scope and sheer size of final model. I can highly recommend CON to all ‘mature’ LEGO fans. This model will impresses with its attention to detail, scope and functionalities (Be aware that CON is a very fragile model, intended for display rather than play!).
This set is one of the best sets I've had the pleasure of building over the past few years. In deciding whether to go for a 4 or 5 star review I must consider the advantages and disadvantages. There is very little to critique in terms of the set itself, however there are a few areas of improvement. The set looks amazing, there is no doubt of that. The size is impressive. If you worry about room, the dimensions are available. The functions work excellently, and are well-integrated. There are some excellent building techniques, and you can see a real effort and passion from the designers which has passed into this set. There are some disadvantages to be aware of. The joy of printed pieces, and in some number, mean that it is problematic to pack them, one of mine was scratched in a minor way. I don't see this as a fault of the set, you can't package each printed piece individually and they exceed stickers, plus Lego has a system for damaged pieces. There is some variety in white coloured pieces, although no way near as problematic as the Lambo Sian, especially when you take a step back. Finally, some detail could have been added to the cockpit, however the inclusion of the iconic droop snoot does explain why this would've been difficult.Overall, any issues with this set are well overwhelmed by the positives. This is a beautiful display piece which has some outstanding building techniques. It can also be swooshed.
In reverse ok, the guys at Lego nailed this design. They have managed to capture the real design of the jet and combine it with their elements of the essence of the design. To the team of 5 who designed this model I say well done, you aced it.The build is extremely satisfying and I used the online version of the instructions as I find it easier at my age seeing a larger schematic. Dont get me wring, it is still fairly technical and once you remove the interim orange supports from the wings, the model can be very fragile if not handled with extreme care. Ifound this out the hard way but after around 60 very tense minutes, I managed to salvage ther buld. When it is complete, it is as solid as a rock though. The droop nose is awesome abut the retractable landing gear blew me away, another reason to buy it as it looks just stunning in flight mode or take-off-landing mode.To sum up the build and final product is that it is simply stunning... Another awesome icon from Team Lego.
All I can say is OMG! This thing is huge! And amazing! I am not an avid lego builder. I buy one every so often, mainly because it is huge nostalgia for me since I used to be obsessed as a kid with Lego, so I am am of average skill level. I recently got back into it with the shuttle a year ago, and being a aviation enthusiast, I knew I had to complement the shuttle with this beaut. The build experience was awesome, quite easy but still engaging. I always wonder just how hard it is to develop these sets since they are so astonishingly cleverly built, using amazing techniques to create curves, slopes and such that are true to the real airplane. I learned a lot about the Concorde, for example the plane doesn't use flaps or slats, explaining why the droop snoot was needed since it needed to fly at such an aggressive angle of attack to maintain lift at lower speeds. This lego model is just a joy to look at. All the details are there. The retractable gear is a very nice touch, and the way it's implemented into the tail is ingenious. To make it more realistic, I put some coffee grounds in the toilets to simulate...you know. Highly recommended to anyone!
Concorde was an extremely beautiful aircraft that was majestic bird in flight, and this Lego build gives you the build a chance to relive the experience of seeing this plane in operation. The fact that this build gives you a slight insight in how it looked inside, down to the toilet and seats. Not only that but Lego has thought of how to make the gears work and for you to see the wheels coming down and going up. But the best part as far as I'm concerned is that your even done the nose tilt aswell, there is so much to this build that keeps you captivated as you build this iconic aircraft. I have seen videos online about Concorde but until you build it for yourself you just cannot feel how well its built. I am looking to hang mine from the ceiling to give its realistic look, as this does impress on ever level. Next I shall build another well known favourite from my childhood and hope that the Space Shuttle is just as good to build. But for Concorde to finally land at Lego, its been a long time waiting for such a gorgeous piece of History and been a joy to build. Not only that but I like to keep the boxes too as they look so good to.
I've built some of the bigger Lego models including the Shuttle Discovery and the Saturn V and this one is right up there with its incredible details, and working nose cone & landing gear. The instructions were easy to understand with no guessing where pieces were supposed to go. The instruction were printed on white so you could tell which pieces you were supposed to use, and easy to follow. My favorite thing about this model & build is there are no stickers. Everything is printed on the pieces including the windows and the red lines along the airframe. The landing gear is exceptionally easy to work, just make sure everything is where it's supposed to be you don't want to have to go back and fix this. Only 2 things I would change, the front landing gear pillion is pretty basic a little more detail would make it look better and the remaining lego studs along the airframe and tail section I'll be adding smooth tiles the smooth out the exterior of the plane itself. Overall I'm glad this is in my collection, truly magnificent to look at and display for many years to come.
