48 years after visiting the Guggenheim in New York City I built it in Lego and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unlike my last build of the Chicago skyline, I found it more difficult to find the correct parts as they wren't packaged up in a sequence to help you build but that is only a tiny gripe. The variety of brick types and the quality of the instruction booklet made this a real joy to build as well as a bit of a challenge. I see it's retiring soon. I hope it will be replaced by some other contemporary structure such as the Guggenheim in Bilbao.

This is my third Architecture set. I own the Farnsworth House and the Trevi Fountain, of which the first one is still intact - I just love the sleek beauty of it. The Guggenheim has the same esthetic appeal: clean lines, a trillion 1x1 tiles, and beautiful colors.Yes, colors. I love the dark green plates with white tiles and sand details in the Farnsworth House, and I also love the two different greens of the Guggenheim combined with the teeny tiny splashes of yellow. I've built several Architecture models, both big and small. This one is by far the best one! In fact it is my favorite model out of all the ones I've got whichever LEGO-series we're talking about. As a display piece - it ROCKS!Perfect size, weight & height. Love the colour scheme. Love the squared background building standing in such nice contrast to the muséums round shapes, the yellow taxis...If you can get your hands on it - buy it!

I just got this set as a gift and was happy to unwrap it as the box photo looked great, a big improvement over the earlier kit. For my whole adult life I have been a fan of Frank Lloyd Wrigt and, much later in life, Lego. So much of the subtlety of FLW's designs seem difficult to interpret in Lego, but this kit does a very good job. It's fairly small in size but the way it captures the essence of the design is well thought out.The colours work well and the curves are achieved in a surprising way. The transitions between the arcs I thought at first were clunky but after building, they are less so, although they maybe could have benefited from white bricks behind where there are tiny fitting gaps to make the curves appear more seamless (instead of black bricks). I hope Lego can successfully translate more of FLW's buildings into kits like this one. If they do, I will most certainly buy them.
This is a superb Lego set.Building it was a bit of a challenge as there are so many small parts and unless totally concentrating, easy to make a mistake.The final result is very satisfying, a beautiful building. If I were to make any improvements, one would be the roof which in the model is a solid colour whereas the actual building has a transparent one. I imagine Lego opted for the solid colour to hide the interior. On the plus side, the museum name is on printed elements. It would have been a disappointment had they been on stickers. On mine the lettering is not parallel but that's a minor quibble.It is a bit too expensive but that seems to be the way for the Architecture series.

I am a big Frank Lloyd Wright fan, and to say I was disappointed in the previous version of the Guggenheim, would be an understatement. It always seemed oddly proportioned. I realize that the designers are limited by brick shapes, and budget constraints, especially with a round building, but that set was a let down.The new set is amazing. Every element of the design is light years beyond the previous one. The build is challenging, and it is fun to see the details as they emerge. Yes Im having a lot of fun but the sets are too quickly finished and I want another set to build... then what to do?The Guggenheim was fun and varied enough not to get tedious.Looks good but need some lights... somehow since there are few "windows". I might experiment with some LED but it would be great to have standardized LEDs built in by LEGO by default and up to the customer to just get a power source and hook one or many Architect sets to another if you put them all on a shelf.Would look much better with lights.I liked this semi large set more than I suspected, the sky line looks pretty but seems very easy to build (I say w/o trying one yet). Also, the instructions are a little unclear in certain places. I didn't know exactly where to put some pieces. Other than that, no complaints.

Honestly, I almost thought this was a set that was intended to be sold in a different country. Anyways, all the issues a aside, this was a neat set, beautiful model, and I love the change in color theme. I think the Black,Charcoal,white, white hints of yellow make for a nice scheme. I do hope that any quality control is put into check however. If anyone from Lego reads this and wants further information on my actual set to identify manufacturing locations, please contact me I want to be as helpful as possible.
