I got to the last bag of parts, #10 & took the whole thing apart down to step #1. In the end I gave up. The last insult was that the top center piece does not fit.I would not give this kit to my worst enemy. shame on Lego!!!

Lego needs to veer away from western proclivities to cultural appropriation. The spire that tops the main dome of the MOSQUE should not have a Christian cros! This is offensive to even the most secularized Muslim. I sent mine back with the appropriate commentary.

My 10 year old granddaughter loved this project. She had visited the real Taj Mahal two years ago. She finished building the model in two afternoons (without the help of elephants). She had to backtrack occasionally when she got a piece wrong, but always found the solution. Not every 10 year old (or every adult) would have her patience and concentration. The symmetry makes for much duplication, which for some would be boring. But for her it was just right. She remembered details from the real thing that were matched by the model. And the final product is elegant and beautiful.

This is a great set of architecture and ends looking very nice. The few things I disliked about it are it uses friction and gravity to hold a few points in or down. As well as is very repetitive. On this small a scale it’s not terrible and I definitely still recommend it. Repetitive builds by Lego, like the colosseum, are luckily not terribly wide spread and many still carry fantastic results.
I have always dreamed of visiting the Taj Mahal. Such a beautiful and special building, unlike any other that I’m aware of. I was so excited to receive this kit. It arrived in a Lego box, made of cardboard, with a clear picture of what can be expected within. There’s plenty of repetition in this build, to ensure the symmetry of this beautiful building is accurate. It can be quite challenging, I needed to take lots of breaks which added to the build time. The details in each piece really are incredible. I would love to see more buildings in the architecture range. I’d love to collect them all. I’d fully recommend this item to anyone who loves Lego, travel and appreciates architecture!
I'll start by saying it's a nice looking set. For a 2000 piece set, it's not very difficult. If you were determined enough, you could do it in one day. I don't suggest that though because your mind will want a break after building the models base.The model's base makes it the most tedious build I've done. There are 99 tan and 99 white 1x1 pieces used to create the tan/white base. If you get the pattern wrong, you're pulling off pieces and redoing that section.Overall, I'd suggest getting this set if you like the Architecture series and/or want an Architecture set that doesn't take up much area, both width and height wise.
My 13-yr. old son loves Legos and throughly enjoyed building the Taj Mahal (2,022 pieces). It took him 4 hours.He plans to add LED lights as well. This is one of the seven wonders of the world and it is now proudly displayed in our office!!
I have not opened the box yet, but highly anticipate that it will be exciting. I am so happy that I was able to order it on-line since we are mostly housebound - thank you COVID! We have been vaccinated but now they still want us housebound. Anyway I have a lot of the Architecture series and really love the authenticity in each model. Also, fun to build.
My husband is a Lego fan, so he dreams of building all of the really cool and detailed sets then filling our home with them. I, on the other hand, being a late 20-something yr old white woman, would prefer to have an adult looking home. Somewhere in between college grad and Instagram-worthy, ya know? In order to compromise, I only buy sets that I wouldn’t mind displaying. This one was worth it! It looks pretty neat on our bookshelf and it was a decent price. Plus it was more time consuming than some others!
I was excited to get this for me and my granddaughter (7) to work together. Today we started with Bag 1 (the bags are numbered, which is helpful when you have 2,000+ pieces). On Bag 1 4 pieces were the wrong ones. Absolutely. They are at the bottom and we put them on the back so we are making it work, but I hope we don't have any more "surprises." Other than that - so far so good. We just started on Bag 2. Update - two tiles in bag 1 were switched with two tiles in bag 2. It was early enough in the process that we were able to switch them back. We are already on bag 4 (of 10). It is the perfect level for my very coordinated 7-year-old; we spend some time on this, then move on to something else, so it is providing more than a one-sitting entertainment. DM
