LEGO 31212 - Art The Milky Way Galaxy

5/5 build: The build on this Lego is fairly easy. Beware: your fingers will hurt by the end of the build. I love the fact that you can split this build up amongst your friends and family. My husband and I worked on it and with both of us working I would say it took 4 hours… with some distractions. 5/5 Design: The design is so much fun. There are hidden pieces and references. If you are a nerd like my husband, then you would appreciate the different pieces signifying different clusters and nebulas. This Lego is going to look great next to all our other NASA related legos in the kitchen. Overall: This build was so much fun. We love the Easter eggs and colors of this build. Beautiful Art Piece

Love this set. What I loved most was the inclusion of certain pieces representing astronomical bodies like Trappist, Pleiades, Pillars of Creations, and Crab Nebula. However, missed opportunity to include something that represented Sagittarius. I ended up modifying it myself using a translucent-orange parabolic piece with a black flat-rounded 1x1 stud to represent the supermassive black hole with an accretion disk. But the set was fun to build. A lot of pieces and very intriguing placement for certain pieces. Love all the different pieces. An orange frog?? Why not!

Beautiful Milky Way

While this may seem like a boring build to some, it was actually a fun build. It was interesting to see all the different pieces they used to make have texture that pops out. They could have done this with the flat round pieces used for the Beatles art piece, but they chose to use layered pieces and a few little surprises like frogs,Lego Friends brushes, cherries, ice cream, purple carrots, and various other random pieces -one I had never seen before. This set looks amazing up close where you can see all the layers that make up the Milk Way galaxy, but it’s even better when you look at from a distance. I recommend this set to anyone who is interested in space, or art or any Lego fan.

Beautiful build!

This one took me about 12 hours over 2 days, and it was totally worth the time and callouses on my fingertips. I had a couple hiccups that I’ve already contacted customer service about (2 bag #6, no bag #9), but overall I am impressed on the improvement in the structure. This one is solid. I’be not attempted to hang the Great Wave or Starry night because they are too delicate, but this one is solid and as soon as I get the missing pieces I’ll hang it for sure. I love the little surprise piece that made me smile and keep building! Treats like that are necessary on a long build! Thanks for this beautiful piece, and keep making them! I’ll keep buying them!

Best set I've bought in 35 years

Ok, so it's not a technical build & you can't really play with it once built but that's kind of irrelevant because it looks absolutely fantastic, whoever chose that colour palette deserves a pat on the back.Some have commented on the repetitive nature of the build, I can see why this has been mentioned as it's more or less sticking bricks to a flat surface, however I didn't find it repetitive at all due to the variety of pieces used.The unique use of 'stange' parts also kept me entertained, a crab, egg whisks, hair brush and a strange eye on a round green 1x1 brick and I loved the addition of some great glittery, pearlescent and glow in the dark pieces. Top marks Lego, you nailed this one.I've since added a few more of those glow in the dark pieces and plan to mount this in an LED lit frame so all those extra bits really pop when the lights go out.

Milky Way a fun build

Be ready for the small parts. The unique use of different shapes and colors to create the Milky Way is fun and interesting.Only small drawback is the 3D building app does not currently work for this set. Fails to load. Works for other available sets. I also tried a different device/OS and still froze the builder app.So back to the paper instructions.Overall 4.8 out of 5. (-.2 for the failed 3D builder. )

My newest piece of wall art

This set has so much personality! First off, its absolutely beautiful from afar. The vibrant colors really pop, standing out against eachother im a way that really outperforms any pictures. I really like the build layout: smaller tiles pieced together in sets make it more manageable to do in short sessions, if necessary. I, however, couldnt stop, which brings my only critique - one instruction book instead of a few. Not a deal breaker by any means, but a personal preference. Oh, and wait til you see the little token pieces within! I had a few that just made me chuckle......so good! Would recommend! Will build again!

One of our favorite Lego builds

This was one of our favorite sets to build. It wasn’t overly difficult, so it made for a more relaxing experience. The colors are amazing, and all of the little elements used to make up the details really adds character and depth. You could honestly get lost staring into this. Our plan is to use this as a backdrop for our other space themed sets (Space Shuttle Discovery and Artemis Space Launch). We were very excited to finally get this set, and I don’t think anyone building this will be disappointed. It’s also broken up into multiple books, so several people can help build this beautiful art piece at the same time. Another win for Lego Art and Lego Space!

Out of This World Art

I own all of the Lego art sets, but this is by far my favorite. It is more beautiful than the pictures can capture. It's incredible. I love that it is divided into panels so you can take a break when your fingers need a break. The details and parts that went into this actually had me chuckling a few times during the build. Incredible use of parts for the 3-D effect and I love the colors. I've loved many of my Lego builds but this has moved to the top of the list. Kudos to the designers. It's genius.

Such a cool set!

I was a little worried this would be a somewhat monotonous build, but it was actually super fun! There are so many intricate little details that are fun to see pop up as you go through each bag, including a frog. The coral and seafoam colors especially stand out. I hope Lego continues these types of space art concepts. Would love to see Jupiter and its moons with the Juno probe orbiting around it, Saturn with its rings, moons, and the Cassini probe. Maybe even work in the Voyager probe into one of those and a single blue pixel to represent the famous pale blue dot photo. One thing to note, it does weigh a decent amount once put together, so for those with apartments who can't use screws and anchors, you might need to get a little creative to hang it securely.
