Received a counterfeit product. StockX did not do their diligence to verify the package contents. A genuine box contained third-party LEGO-compatible parts, but it was not LEGO. Make sure you document your unboxing when buying LEGO. Fortunately, StockX has agreed to issue a refund, which is why this is two stars and not one.

Different parts of the carbody were packed in separate boxes. In addition, Lego also collocated a highly valuable manual, introduced the Lego technology series and the Porsche GT series, and placed 4 special rims containing RS badges on the side of the package.

This was a fun and simple kit to install. It’s only my third kit but after doing 2 you quickly pick up the way they work. The instructions were clearly old and I improved on them in my opinion by mounting the expansion boards on the front and rear centre bumpers rather than inside the bonnet and boot as per the manual. This kept the cables more out of the way and much tidier. The simplicity in the lighting kit was very impressive.

I received the 911 GT3 RS as a Christmas present from my brilliant family.I haven't built any lego technic since I was about 12, so I took the (long) time to read the instructo-pedia, which is quite some tome. I couldn't find any youtube videos explaining how to make it RHD so I figured out some reversal steps while reading/planning.Despite the detail and the sheer scope of the build, the steps in the instructions are all fairly detailed so It goes together easily (even when reversing the steering and linkage from the flappy-paddles to the sequential gearbox). The only problem I had was the result of putting the wrong girders into the guts of the gear box and then realising (much) later that they belonged in the suspension and having to retrieve them.My only ... MoreI received the 911 GT3 RS as a Christmas present from my brilliant family.I haven't built any lego technic since I was about 12, so I took the (long) time to read the instructo-pedia, which is quite some tome. The only problem I had was the result of putting the wrong girders into the guts of the gear box and then realising (much) later that they belonged in the suspension and having to retrieve them.My only gripes are that if the instructions are followed to the letter the gearbox isn't sequential, which I found out online while looking for RHD instructions, and that that having assembled a detailed chassis with so many working components, it ends up entirely hidden from view behind the body panels and cargo shelf. Even after omitting a few of the retaining pins that fix the body to the chassis and modifying the fixing under the seats to make withdrawing the black pins easier, removing the body will still involve pulling the door hinges apart (although A relatively small modification to the pins should make them easier to remove once a couple of parts are ordered).I reckon this lego set is the duck's guts. Any one who likes lego and/or Porsche is definately going to enjoy building this kit. You'll also need to pause a few days before the 'mating' step so you can fiddle with the transmission to see how it all works.
So on a sleepy Sunday in NYC, I promised my young daughter that I'd take her to the Lego store so that she could pick out a set. She picked an Elves set, which itself was really great, but in our search through the store I came across this Porsche. I thought to myself, surely I'm not too old to put together a Lego kit? I found myself making a purchase that day, and boy am I glad I did. When I told the clerk that I wanted to buy the Porsche, I I could see his own excitement. It was as though I had entered hallowed ground, and I was about to retrieve the holy grail. He talked to a few of his colleagues mentioning "he's going to get the Porsche" as he went into the back to find the one and only one box they had in the back. It was as though I had entered hallowed ground, and I was about to retrieve the holy grail. He talked to a few of his colleagues mentioning "he's going to get the Porsche" as he went into the back to find the one and only one box they had in the back. Apparently this Porsche is very hard to find, and I was lucky enough to get their only copy.Once home, I immediately dug in. My other boys became very curious and ran over to meet the new challenge. One of my sons is a real Lego fan, and he became my sidekick throughout the building adventure. We built the Porsche over the course of 10 days, with most of the hard work happening on the weekend days. It was a tremendous amount of fun, and we only just finished the car last night. The set is comprised of 4 different boxes, each filled with parts to build a particular phase of the car:-Box 1: Drivetrain-Box 2: Frame, floor, and interior-Box 3: Body (mostly rear)-Box 4: Body (mostly front)The final build is so detailed and so nice looking, you'll want to put it away in a glass case to showcase to all your guests.I do have two points of feedback for Lego to perhaps influence future Technic kits they make:-First, I found that box 1 contained many orange body parts that didn't come into play until phases 3 and 4 hit (boxes 3 and 4, respectively). In most cases, a phase of work equated to a single box of the same number, but for some reason box 1 broke the pattern, leaving you with the sensation that you missed steps.-Second, at the beginning of each phase, I found myself spending time to organize all of the parts by color into ziplock bags. It's very hard to later find what you're looking for if you don't do this, and I wondered why Lego itself didn't organize the parts that way as part of their packaging. The way it ships, there's a seemingly random organization of the parts. To conclude, I strongly recommend you give this set a try. You will have so much fun, much more fun that staring at some electronic screen or gadget for hours. Go for it!
I am a long time builder of Technic kits going back to the Technic Space Shuttle and could not wait to snag up this Porsche as soon as I found out about it. Overall the building experience was great and I liked the way that Lego chose to box this kit in four individual boxes and also included a great manual. Furthermore, I was glad to have a kit that was not finished before the fun wore out as smaller kits tend to get completed long before I wish they were. Many of the merits of this have been covered in detail and I will not go into them, but I did want to bring something that bothered me to Lego's attention. Many of the pieces tend to not have the finished appearance that I have come to enjoy from Lego products over the years. I do not recall a kit that had as many issues with sink marks/ejector marks and other various astetic issues (I understand that some of these are clearly defined and are more or less a part of the peice but this is not what I am referring to). On parts that are not exposed from the outside this is not as big of a deal, but what troubled me was the marks on parts that are plainly visible on the completed kit and even more so the differences in color on the orange parts. The photos I have attached show as best as I can with my cell phone the differences in color between parts on the hood as well as the roof (the center piece of the roof is more so due to lighting but in my second photo the far right piece is clearly a different color).I am a scale modeler, so I am likely more in tune to these things than the average builder, but for how great this kit is and for the expense of this kit I expected at the very least for the orange to match, as this is a very loud color (as it should be) and draws attention to the kit from afar.Overall I love this kit and would recommend it to any builder who wants a challenge and a project that won't end after only a couple hours of assembly. Great job Lego, and I hope to see more kits of this caliber in the future because I will be a guaranteed customer. But please pay a little more attention to quality control in your molding processes. Thank you.
All in all, pretty good. Missing a shifter band. Many of the axle type parts were either too tight or loose. Had to do some sanding to get parts work properly. The stickers were terrible, they would not adhere completely. Instructions were small and hard to read. Once I got through these issues, the kit worked ok.
From the moment you open the box you can see an awful lot of thought and effort has gone into designing this set. The box is superbly designed with pictures of all the 911 models adorning the inside edge, the graphics on the inner boxes shows some of the detailing on the model and the way the Alloys are displayed shows they are uber proud of the desigtechnically designed set I've made. Having owned and built most if the Star Wars models I felt like a change and this was definitely the best choice. Great use of some different items to make lines and designs work on this, fantastic engineering mirroring the actual working parts of the real car, steering, suspension, engine, all amazingly recreated down to that of the distinct RS designed alloys. This is the most enjoyable set that really gets the brain working. Well worth the money, just contemplating if the Bugatti is worth trialling next!
After having a great experience building the Bugotti Technic set, and being thoroughly happy with all aspects of that model, I was looking at YouTube and saw the Porsche GT3 ST set which is also 1/8 scale. I wanted to relive the challenge and enjoyment of the Bugotti. Since the Porsche GT3 RS is retired, I ordered from another on-line retailer, and this set did not disappoint. It was a great experience putting this model together and noting the differences between the Porsche and Bugotti such as the paddle shifters versus the PDK system; as well as the different versions of the “marriage” phase of the build in both models. The instruction book contained great images and information about the Porsche, and it is also great to have two great 1/8 models on display. Overall the set was great for the price and I got a lot of enjoyment from it, however after about a week after fully building it the shifter no longer worked as intended, and the car will only move a few feet before some mechanism locks up and then makes a clicking noise when pushed further, haven’t figured out what the issue is. And a tube piece that connects to the engine got caught in between the ends of the bag it came in and got melted into the bag, was able to separate it without further damage but the end of the tube was crushed. Besides that, great product and will be buying from here again.
