Absolutely fantastic build! I loved every moment of it and now I feel depressed the building is over.It took ages to build which is what I wanted, the more intricate the better. This kit is retiring so get it now before you have to get it from other sellers for more money.Pros:-Loads of details hidden away like the chess set and mirror of Erised.-Many hours of building fun-Not too many stickers, yes there was a large amount of stickers but not as bad as some sets.-It's sturdy and feels secure except for two little towers that wobble a bit. They really should have engineered that better.Cons-No Fluffy!! They bothered to put in devils snare but not Fluffy.-No Hagrid, how can you have Hagrid's hut but no HagridIt was missing one piece, or possibly we lost ... MoreAbsolutely fantastic build! This build was very easy for as many pieces as there were. It is extremely repetitive, which is not a bad thing. It makes the look consistent. When building, it makes you rotate it. I kept snapping pieces off when I rotated. I even slid it off the table to ensure my hand was underneath to support it. Two of the pieces connect with nothing more than a round plastic piece. I love it, but am afraid to have people touch it. The instructions are also pretty vague. It’s basically a “look at the picture and see what is different” kind of approach to the build. It wasn’t as well thought out as the collector’s edition with Hedwig in it. That piece is beautiful, sturdy, and so detailed. I think this one tries to do too much. It combines parts from so many of the books. It ... MoreThis build was very easy for as many pieces as there were. It is extremely repetitive, which is not a bad thing. It makes the look consistent. Let me start by saying, I loved putting this set together. I have wanted to own this set as long as I can remember. When I was younger, an HP Lego set was THE Christmas gift I would ask for each year. This past December I was finally able to buy this one! I loved putting the set together and it is displayed in my office.But...I can't give it a full 5 out of 5. One of my favorite parts about the previous sets I got were the special "magically themed" printed lego(s) in them. Those were the icing on the cake and they are still my favorites! I was so disappointed to find out that this set had absolutely NO printed legos. It comes with lots of stickers that the builder needs to apply themselves (which I am not a fan of). This set is so detailed and expensive that I ... MoreLet me start by saying, I loved putting this set together. I have wanted to own this set as long as I can remember. I was very let down as I got through each bag and then realized there were none. That may not be a big deal to some people but it was a let down for me.Outside of that, like I mentioned above, I loved building this set and I am happy it is part of my collection!

I bought this set when I was 15 as one of my first less childlike sets and it was great! I loved the step-up in complexity and I thought it was a perfect level of difficulty. I am now 18 and I still enjoy taking apart and redoing this set every summer. This set is also cool because it comes with microfigures that you can place around the castle, and I find it fun to be able to mix it up every once in a while and move them to different places. I love that every part of this build is different. Some LEGO sets seem to have a lot of the exact same steps over and over, but I do not find this set to be repetitive at all. Purchased this set as a massive HP fan and it was a very good purchase. Took me 10ish hours to build and I have had it on display since. There are many stickers but it is justified as they add a great amount of detail to the build. The shear size of this set is amazing as it is not only tall but decently wide as well. The detail inside the castle is amazing as well. Only draw back for me personally is that the micro figures are slightly out of scale. They still work ok when displaying and the slight disproportion of the is understandable as it would be very difficult to mould figures that small. Overall this castle is incredible, it is a must pickup for any fan who has the money.
The LEGO Hogwarts Castle (HOG) is an impressive and immersive LEGO experience. The building techniques are varied and surprisingly low in repetitiveness. The scale of HOG is Micro figures, which is no issue for me personally. Final build stands beautiful with loads of cool and smart details. Add led lights to the interior of the HOG main buildings in order to create and spectate a stunning scenario with multicolored lighting from window openings. Actually, I’d suggest LEGO developers to include lighting design into future sets - lighting (Shadows) is the number one thing to consider and integrate into all grand designs/architecture. Admittedly I’m not a fan of Harry Potter (It’s fine I guess 🫣😛) but the HOG LEGO set receives my highest recommendations. It’s a ... The hints I dropped in the run up to Christmas worked - The Wife bought this amazing kit for me. It's a true showstopper, towering spires and sprawling gothic buildings recreating the wonder of the Hogwarts Castle. As ever, I find some customisation improves the finish - I've never liked the spiny plastic trees as they just look awful, and the roofline needed some additional work to do justice to the size of the building. And of course: lighting. This is a build that just screams out for lighting it up, and there are several aftersales options to choose from. I, again, adapted the lighting kit to enhance the building, rather than turn it into a flashing Blackpool illuminations.Great fun to build, engrossing, excellent instructions with just a couple of missing ... A bit of a beast to display - mine has to be in two parts to show it off, but that's OK.
I semi-wish I'd picked up Hedwig instead, but this'll do. I'm only about 25% through this thing. I feel like the instructions are... wanting. But I'm coming back to Lego after like 30 years. It's a bit of a puzzle. "Spot the Difference" kind of thing. I don't hate it.This thing is massive. Not necessarily in size when finished, I don't know what that looks like. But the number of plastic bags is disconcerting yet convenient. But since they're hard cellophane-type bags, there's no reusing them. Maybe that's the norm in the Lego world. There are some creative liberties taken with the interpretation of the Chamber of Secrets, but I guess it works. Curious to see where the rest of it leads.I don't know if this is a display piece, since I'm not a Legophile. (Spell ... MoreI semi-wish I'd picked up Hedwig instead, but this'll do. (Spell check didn't correct what I thought was a made-up word, so I'm definitely hitting Google after this.) Hopefully, my lady friend will help me finish the build and she can just have this thing after. It isn't that I'm not enjoying putting it together, but I'm certainly dreading taking it apart.Pick it up if you love Harry Potter, even if you don't love Lego. I feel like it's probably worth the asking price. I'll update this with some pictures when the build is done if this thing will let me.
I love the overall design and look of this product, but building it was a real struggle. First, there was a bunch of missing pieces, I was usually able to move on with out them or find some in my bins of extra pieces but I eventually had to make a call because I couldn't move on without a piece. On top of that, some of the pieces were just in the wrong bags, so I would have to open another bag just to finish the first one. The second thing is that some of the pieces did not line up how they were supposed to and I had to re-arrange some of the pieces just so they would fit and go together. The third and final thing, which honestly could have just been me, is that some of the instructions were incredibly confusing and difficult to read, with some of them it wasn't ... The third and final thing, which honestly could have just been me, is that some of the instructions were incredibly confusing and difficult to read, with some of them it wasn't exactly clear what colour piece to use and with other ones it just flat out didn't make any sense. I was disappointed in this when I put it together, but the end result made me a little happier with it.
When I ordered this I had a few doubts as other reviews stated that pieces were missing. I am happy to say that the kit was 100% complete with no missing parts. It was a joy to build and to see how it comes together whilst building it. It really comes in 2 parts so you don't get the full impression until both parts are built and then slotted together. Once this is done there is a real wow factor with how it all looks. Only issue is the same as most Lego products of this size - there are some wonderful internal features that are hidden from view dependent on how you display it but this is minor. Overall a very worthwhile set that I would highly recommend to anybody, whether they're a Harry Potter fan or not.
