I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. What a fun retro product this is. I grew up playing the Atari 2600 and playing with Legos. Of course my Legos back in the seventies were pretty basic and nothing like this.This product is such a great and fun idea. I just received it and have only begun to put it together. I imagine it will take me some time to complete the entire thing, which I'm looking forward to. The instruction book is thick! The Legos are all packaged in different groups, which makes everything a lot easier. My only complaint is the packaging of the product. I had it in my head that I would open the box and the Legos would all be nicely stowed away in compartments. We have so many Lego sets for our kids but my husband wants his own sets sometimes too. This is a lot of pieces to put together and will keep him busy for quite some time! Once it's completely built he will be putting it on his desk at work to display! This is such a cool project for adults! As always I love that Lego has such detailed instructions for assembly and the bags of pieces are numbered.

As a collector of all things Lego, Zavvi are sometimes significantly cheaper than other sellers of this brand. Also, every now and then there will be days whereby Zavvi are offering even bigger discounts. This Lego set it one of the more collectible sets on offer and is a great build. If you are of a certain age, you will all have seen one of these Atari's somewhere throughout your childhood. The likeness is spot on and the product is quality. You would not be disappointed should you buy this set.

Bought this set on an impulse purchase at a lego store, and I can say with a surety it did not disappoint! I already owned the NES set and this makes a nice addition to that set. So many neat little features, and the perfect set for my little adhd brain. Breaking up the build process with the little dioramas was awesome! One of the coolest things for me is the switches that spring back in place when you flick them! Really cool touch. Lego, you knocked it out of the park with this one!
Firstly, this is a great set and has some cool little additional builds which form part of the set. Unfortunately the excitement is short lived when you open a box which is flush to the Lego box and see that the Lego packaging has taken every single bash in transit. Box looked like it had been in the middle of a rugby scrum. Please take note of how Lego themselves package these items and allow for wrap between the outer box and the product box. Fitting it into a box where it meets the outer on 3 sides is just thoughtless. Have returned for a replacement which I am hoping is packaged correctly this time.
I absolutely loved this build. Like the NES, from any distance it is nearly impossible to tell that it is not the real thing. I loved that they used Printed pieces for everything but the parts that would have originally been stickers anyway, like the cartridges. The addition of the basement scene built into the console was genius.If there were any quibbles it would be that the game dioramas felt unnecessary, and as expensive as this set is it would have been nice to shave a few dollars off by omitting a side build that I am just going to use for extra parts anyways. The main console and controller will be joining the NES, Voltron, and Optimus Prime on my 80s shelf. :)

This set is not disappointing at all! The sliding out front was cool and I like that it reveals a little scene inside. I also like the little details like the "Easter egg" and that the switches on the console bounce back up like the original. I just don't really like that the piece you connect the controller to at the back of the console is grey. I wish they made it black: it would look way better. I have this as a gift to my s/o, who loves both retro games and Lego. Honestly this was a bigger hit than I expected! He spent all day Christmas putting it together without stopping.So many cool little things in this set with the different parts - the little scenes and the cartridges add a lot of interest. Lots of little switches and plugs on the console. The whole thing looks super slick. So happy I splurged a little on this over an architecture set this year!
The Atari 2600 was my first gaming system. This really captures its look, with the grooves on the side, the switches, the angles.The pop-up scene is a lot of fun to build and captures that late 70s basement vibe very well.It is a lot of black. The set does not really come alive until near the end when the top is done and you start on the control panel.I like the side builds as well with the scenes from games and the cartridge rack. The switches all feel nice with some as toggles and others that use rubber bands to go back to original position, mirroring the console.It is a great set to have sitting out by a TV rather than on a shelf with other Lego sets.
