Bought for Christmas. Have seen it together and know it's a wonderful new set. My Grandson will enjoy this new themed Lego Set. He has already so many sets because he enjoys building Legos. Great product for that special Grandson or child.

I love to give my son Lego products. These building kits really encourage his ability to read & follow directions, troubleshoot, and improvise when needed. This kit was challenging for an 8yr old, but that's why he liked building it, plus all the little details, e.g. moveable moonstone wheel,6 minifigures + skeleton, potions desk w/flasks, wind up chains, motion staircase, and Jack McHammer's car. They always include extra pieces of those that are most likely to get lost. Too bad they are so expensive.
Great set. Adapting it to be home for Ninjago ghosts and skeletons but great play value on its own. Grandson (10) loves it
New Monster theme from Lego does a good job with originality in castle design and creativity (spikes, skeleton hanging from chains, pipe organ keys, etc).This set is a good deal if under a hundred $ More than that and you're paying too much. It's a big enough set that multiple kids can play with it at same time and each stay busy. It's particularly neat to have setup in the house around halloween. Bravo once again Lego.
This is the first large-scale LEGO kit I have had the pleasure to handle and build. I am truly impressed with the quality of the components and the thoughtful design that has gone into it. Not a single piece or component fit poorly! The molding quality was top-notch. A number of the sub-assemblies in this kit would not be easily completed without good instructions, and the builder of this kit does indeed obtain useful and concise instructions with completely graphic diagrams. The thematic content of the kit shows a real appreciation for small details and the fun side of supernatural characters. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about my experience with this kit.
It has been awhile since I have 'helped' put a Lego together. Not since my 26 yr old did Technic projects. I bought this for my 10 year old granddaughter for her birthday. Now the bags of pieces are numbered and you only open one bag at a time, making it easier to find and assemble, especially with over 900 pieces. (well, I wasn't there and my older grandson was working on it and they opened all the bags looking for a 'missing' part) Meanwhile my youngest grandson who had never done Legos with directions was putting together the City Garbage Truck (3 bags/208 pieces) at my house while I held the directions. He was done in 50 minutes. This is fantastic! Love the separate bag idea!! Later, we separated all the pieces by color on the castle to help assemble. I ordered this set because I heard the Monster Fighters series was being discontinued and I wanted to get a few sets to add to my collection. I liked this one because it was a good size set for a good price, and it looks cool!! I ordered it from Walmart.com because I ordered a few other LEGO sets and they arrived in pristine condition, so I took my chances on this one too. Unfortunately, the LEGO box was damaged. It wasn't too bad, but bad enough that as a collector, I knew I'd have trouble selling it in the future. Instead of adding it to my collection, I decided to build it and it was a fun set to assemble. It was actually bigger than I thought it would be! So... all in all, it was a pretty good set but I was a little bummed that the box was damaged.
The ONLY gripe I had with this set is that it's a pain to move if you don't build it on whatever you're going to have it displayed on if you're not going to actually play with the set. The mummy's chariot fits in the front gate which is great. The hearse set is way too big if you're going for scale. It's a good looking set when it's up on a shelf as a focal point in the room. I'll definitely give it that. I think next time I build it, I'm gonna have a couple of big grey base plates for stability. There are hinge bricks holding the front part of the castle with the back part of the castle and if you aren't careful, gravity isn't your friend.
