Absolutely fantastic set. Contrary to what the designer said, this is NOT a playset. It really wasn't meant for that, and this set doesn't have any play features. It does, however, fulfill its purpose as a display set almost perfectly. It captures the smooth angles and minute details that a play-scale version could not. The ability to clip Han Solo in carbonite to the inside of the hatch is one of the most brilliant achievements made by the LEGO Design Team, in my opinion. The cockpit is much more accurate size-wise than the other versions of this set, and the captain's seat is able to rotate from a horizontal to a vertical position, as it should. Even though it was only seen for a few scenes in Empire Strikes Back and Attack of the Clones, its appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2 makes this set even more valuable to the fans who own it.Because of the upcoming show The Book of Boba Fett in December 2021, this set will rise in value AND demand more than it already has. If LEGO wants to make big bucks off of this, I'd argue that now would be a great time to re-release this set, and maybe change it ever so slightly to reflect the version seen in The Mandalorian.Changes could include new box art and new minifgures: re-armored Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, the Mandalorian, Migs Mayfeld, and maybe Cara Dune. That being said, all of those minifigures would also go well with an Imperial Juggernaut set based off of Chapter 15: The Believer. Perhaps LEGO should produce something like that, instead of yet another X-wing and TIE Fighter.

I purchased this set at the same time as cloud city was announced. I have made plans for a large scale cloud city MOC, and of course, the slave one is an integral part of it.The first thing to say is what a technical accomplishment this is; the slightly tilted ram is ingeniously designed, and I will not spoil what exactly it does right here-part of the fun is in the suprise. The new cockpit is perfect, with a more streamlined design than the more familiar angular ones, and I was happy with the amount of dark red used for the base- I was worried that such a large volume of that scale would have to be done in brown. However, there are two major drawbacks with this set, only one of which you can really say could have been designed better. The lack of interior design is not the designers fault- the internal structure means it would have been very difficult to make an interior for this model, but it is no less disappointing. However, there is one thing I very much disliked, and that was the back-the engines if you will. I was quite frankly shocked by the wholes in the model at the back, and assumed they would at some point be filled in. The ugly tan bricks coming through is no means appealing, and thankfully I chose to display it on its bottom to avoid such a ghastly sight. Several large pieces are used to achieve the effect of the base of the slave one, which leads it to look rather rushed. The minfigures overall are quite good, with the stormtrooper and han solo having minimum-but noticable changes that help to make them more appealing. The bespin guard is beautifully done, with his blue being a welcom change from imperial gray. Boba Fett is nicely designed, but I feel like too much was attempted on his minifigure, making him look very cluttered.Overal though, I do like this model, as it is the most accurate model of the beloved ship in lego form.

Firstly I will start by saying this is my first UCS build so in that respect I will not try and compare it to other UCS sets.Positives:1. Good Size Model2. Interesting Build3. Some Great Features Including Hidden Side Weapons4. Great Boba Fett Model and Han Solo In Carbonite5. Great Looking Model When Built.Negatives:1. Too Many Stickers For My Liking Would Have Prefered Some To Be Replaced By Printed Pieces Especially When Spending This Amount Of Money.2. Following on from my gripe above the information plaque is a sticker that is very difficult to get right first time and because of its size difficult to reposition if you get it wrong, maybe Lego could come up with a better system for this ideally a printed piece, which surly would look a lot ... MoreFirstly I will start by saying this is my first UCS build so in that respect I will not try and compare it to other UCS sets.Positives:1. When attached to the stand the bottom of the ship blocks most of the information plaque, making it almost pointless from a display point of view.4. My biggest issue really has to be with ‘ability’ to load Han Solo in Carbonite into the ships hold, during the build it looks like you will be able to to this easily and that the piece that the Carbonite fits onto will come out much further from the ships hold than it really does once the build is complete as such it is very difficult to load and fiddly if you have bigger fingers and hands. It’s a real shame because I love the idea of being able to load Han Solo into the hold but with this design it’s almost pointless.Overall I am extremely happy with this set, it makes a great looking model that is a decent size when constructed and was a really good and interesting build to construct.Apart from the above mentioned cons of the set which I hope Lego address , they have done a good job with this one.

This set was an interesting and fun build. I really like the fold-out missile launchers on the sides, though they are a little stiff. I also really like the fact that the fins on the sides are weighted so they automatically rotate to the correct position for the ship's orientation, so you don't ever have to futz with them. I would have liked the seat in the cockpit to do the same, though that would be more difficult to engineer. The gun holsters in the cockpit where a nice touch, I just like them for some reason. My favourite part though is the cargo door. I greatly enjoy clipping carbon frozen Han Solo to the inside of the door and then shutting it on him, and opening it again is just as satisfying. Now I just need to find somewhere to put it...
After a long Hiatus from Lego, I was suddenly drawn my the superb box artwork and even more so how colourful the Slave 1 is compared to every other Star Wars spacecraft before it. Then I saw Bobba Fett Figue. Then I got my wife's permission to build it as it was also at a discounted price. My 4yo son was also excited upon seeing the huge box that he insisted on building. All by himself. And so he did. This is why it took 30 days. Although it is almost 2000 pieces, we found it very swooshable and over the next few months we played out many space battles almost daily. Now it sits proudly on display as one of my favourite Lego Builds of all time for so many reasons.
Okay so I'm not really a die hard Star Wars fan, I like the movies and vehicles but don't own many SW sets. This was my first UCS set I decided to purchase cause I really like Boba Fett and was curious what Lego can do in this price range. As soon as I finished assembling it I felt that I made a mistake because now I totally have to buy all the available UCS sets. This set in my opinion is one of the best Lego has to offer and one of best sets of all time. The proportions, the size and details are perfect compared to the in movie ship. An amazing variety of building techniques were used. But you really have to see and build it for yourself to appreciate the amount of work and love that was put into this set.Now this is definitely no toy or playset. There are a couple of play features but the thing is so heavy and robust that you'll have a very hard time trying to fly it around or play with it. It was absolutely designed to be a display and I don't have a problem with that. There are a few stickers of course some of them can be tricky to apply but it's the only negative I could mention.Minifigures are average, Boba Fett himself is of course excellent, but otherwise you get a generic Stormtrooper, a Bespin Guard and Han Solo both in minifig and in carbonite. To wrap it up I absolutely recommend this set to anyone who like Star Wars and would like to build an iconic ship and have fun in the process.
This is cool, I mean.... the Falcon must be the best known smuggler ship in the galaxy but the Slave I is most dreaded.Just imagine being on the run from "the law" or a former shady business partner and seeing the single most unique ship in the sky, aiming for you!!There are a lot of YT-1300F out there but only one Firespray 31 so there is no mistake that this Boba Fett's ride. The characters included are cool but there should have been two Storm troopers and two Officers, as in the movie when they escorted Han to the ship. The ship itself is hugh, bigger than you imagine holding the nice and colorful box. The instructions is as always perfect, I haven't found a single thing to complain about in any LEGO manual... possibly that sometimes black and dark grey ... MoreThis is cool, I mean.... the Falcon must be the best known smuggler ship in the galaxy but the Slave I is most dreaded.Just imagine being on the run from "the law" or a former shady business partner and seeing the single most unique ship in the sky, aiming for you!!There are a lot of YT-1300F out there but only one Firespray 31 so there is no mistake that this Boba Fett's ride. The characters included are cool but there should have been two Storm troopers and two Officers, as in the movie when they escorted Han to the ship. The ship itself is hugh, bigger than you imagine holding the nice and colorful box. Stickers is not fun but I understand to have them when doing damages on the paint job...Awesome minifigure of Boba Fett.Cons:Only one Storm trooper and one Officer.I did not really understand if the carbonite-box-holding arm is supposed to be able to move the carbonite-box all the way from outside to inside. I had to move the box inside halfway and attaching it to the arm... ??
Sadly, the days are gone when I could afford to request a £100 LEGO set each birthday and Christmas, with the equivalent gifts now being a new textbook or piece of furniture...However, having not purchased a single piece of LEGO in over 8 years, spanning from GCSE years through University, I truly could not resist this phenomenal set. I justified it as a gift to me for completing my 3rd year exams, and was amazed from beginning to end. The building techniques used in this set are simple, yet beautiful, but more than that, they are enjoyable to piece together. During the build you find yourself grinning in appreciation at how different aspects of the model are achieved. The stand out part of this model simply has to be the way that the designer has replicated the angles of the ship using technic pieces, yet has still managed to avoid leaving pretty much any obvious gaps in the ship!Having built many LEGO models over the years, spanning product lines including the comic story focussed Aqua Team, to each of the glorious Orient Expedition sets, the Star Wars line has been, and always will be where my heart lies- and truly, the UCS Slave I is the pinnacle. To anyone considering purchasing this set, I'd have to encourage you that if finances allow, you truly won't regret it!The build has encouraged me to trawl back through my collection, and I've loved reminiscing while rebuilding many of the sets from my childhood over the months since my purchase, so thank you LEGO for being such an amazing part of my life so far! I really hope I can afford to buy and build more of UCS range that I never could have dreamed of owning as a kid in the years to come! I can't wait to hopefully save enough to collect the UCS Snowspeeder and UCS Y-Wing over the coming years, both of which look absolutely fantastic!
In all honesty I really like the set mostly because of how iconic it is in the Star Wars universe so I’m really glad they came out with a ultimate collector set of the Slave 1, but... I have some problems with it as well as some things that I think were really great...First I will point out the thing that I thought the design team did well. I really like how’s they made the ship with parts that didn’t always mirror the other side of the ship. This is good because since Bobo Fett is a bounty hunter you don’t always have replacement parts at hand when a ship is damaged especially since he is a solo contractor and isn’t envolved in the bounty hunter guild in the Star Wars extended universe. So it would be extremely logical that all the parts wouldn’t be matching like ... MoreIn all honesty I really like the set mostly because of how iconic it is in the Star Wars universe so I’m really glad they came out with a ultimate collector set of the Slave 1, but... So it would be extremely logical that all the parts wouldn’t be matching like they have portrayed.Another excellent design they added is the swing pilots chair which is very relevant to the actual ship in the movie. Other then that their isn’t much to say about a chair...Another thing that I thought was quite relevant to the movie was the ships path up to the entrance where you put Han Solo. It was very similar to the model in the movie which I thought was a difficult task but the designers coughs almost everything which i thought was amazing.Alright hear are some thing I thought they should have added...First I would like to point out the inside of the ship... personally I thought they could have done a way better job on the inside of the ship. I wish their could be a removable top or something on the ship so you could peek inside the ship. Of course their would have to be an inside to look at! Which points out the other issue. I know they said that they didn’t have any visual pictures of the slave one from the movies but from my experience from being a Star Wars fan I know that their are many books about Bobo Fett that I have personally read and they give an excellent picture in your head of what the ships innards may have looked like. Sadly they didn’t even try to add the cargo hold or the passenger hold. Of course they would’ve had to make the ship bigger for these other designs but if they added in at least one cool detail that’s the ship was intended to actually have (Personally I would like a prisoner hold). I mean it literally can only hold Bobo Fett and 1 piece of cargo which in this case is Han. I also need to mention that there are fan peices of art for the inside of the Slave 1 as well.I know this sounds mostly negative and if you took this the wrong way I’m sorry, but this is only my personal opinion. I really like the outside design of the Slave 1 but I just wish there was more of an inside. ( Also excuse any spelling mistakes please because I didn’t have time to edit this)
I'm a big classic Star Wars and LEGO fan and I have a few big non-SW sets in my collection but I haven't bought anything new in a year. Knowing about this set, I don't have any USC Star Wars sets and I know this one might not be around for much longer, I decided to go for it. I backordered it a few weeks ago and I got it this week. I built it relatively slowly over the past 3 days, and the first thing about the model is I knew it was big, but this thing is huge and you know it by bag 2. It doesn't quite come through in pictures and videos, LEGO's Design Video for this model almost pulls off the scope and scale in picture with Hans (the designer) showing it off, but when it's built up in front of you, it's big. The other thing about it is I'm baffled at how smart ... MoreI'm a big classic Star Wars and LEGO fan and I have a few big non-SW sets in my collection but I haven't bought anything new in a year. The other thing about it is I'm baffled at how smart this thing is designed. It's so smart, genius even the way they pulled of the angles and curves of this ship and the inside frame (I was thinking this could almost technically be a Technic set) but I wonder how the designers do this? Do they just pull it out of their mind with knowledge and experience in LEGO, trial and error with the advantage of being able to access any LEGO pc that exists or is it something much more "simple" like inputting dimesions and a computer pumps out the model, bricks and instructions? There is no way a human designed this (jk). And the finished product is astounding. It's a stunning cool and big rendition of Slave 1. It's bigger than any model or toy of Slave 1 that I have ever seen, and I have seen quite a few and it looks like Slave 1 from all angles. There is detail everywhere, all around the ship. The model looks amazing on the included stand. I don't want to take it apart now that I've built it either, I want to buy an acrylic display case for it. It also looks amazing in landing mode which has me wondering how much it would cost me to build a Cloud City type of landing platform for it. Stunning. I mean the USC Millennium Falcon is pretty cool too (but expensive) and to be honest seeing the new USC Millennium Falcon sent set me into Slave 1 impulse buy mode, but having built and seen Slave 1 now, it's not LEGO's biggest set but it is without a doubt huge and one of it's coolest for sure. It's only 1996 pcs but some of those slanted red pcs for the hull are big and there's quite a few of them, and also a few in green too. Great set. It's hands down my current favorite and I don't think much could top it to be honest. Very glad I bought it.
