THEN! Get all the way done and get to the part where you connect them and realize the trees won’t pop into place unless I basically punch the side of the lego set- which I do. One side, done. Ok. I really don’t think I’m going to garner any further interest to finish this. Lego- this set is a fail. You needed to have a way to pop the blue and grey joints on and together before it is being stood up. If the ball joints had gone before the trees in assembly, I do not think it would have popped apart in so many places. The nostalgia was fun and I had fun watching stranger things while I did this. But unfortunately my enjoyment of the stranger things storyline does not translate to a good review of this product.

Great concept but needs better instructions

I bought this set for my son for his 12th birthday. We have put together at least 100 Lego sets between my two boys at this point in our lives. We watched videos of this being put together and I read reviews. We decided to not use the kragle and just make sure that all the pieces were put together as snuggly as possible. The building of the set was smooth up until the end. When we went to attach the trees it kept falling apart. We would stop, put everything back together and try again. After doing this 3 times with the same result we decided to give it a day and try again. In the meantime I tried to reach out to the Lego company but the website just kept looping me around and we gave up and went back to the videos again. In the meantime I tried to reach out to the Lego company but the website just kept looping me around and we gave up and went back to the videos again. We tried to attach the two houses together first then the trees. It fell apart again. At this point we just went for it and watched half of the house fall apart as we got the trees attached. Now we are working on piecing the houses back together and it is very frustrating. Overall it is a great concept and amazing set but the execution of piecing it together at the end needs to be reassessed. The instructions just glance over it while there should be a few pages dedicated to this step. Some of the instructions for the upside-down portion were so dark it was hard to tell the difference in pieces so we had to use a flashlight to make sure we were doing it correctly. We love Legos and will of course be buying more sets but I've never been more frustrated when trying to finish a set before. I would highly recommend using the kragle on this set as you go, especially the roof! I have attached some photos of all the pieces that fell off after we attached the trees.

I don't understand some of the complaints

I'll start by saying that when I wanted this set, it was out of stock, and I had to wait two months before I could backorder it, then a week later it shipped, and arrived a week later. Although the wait was long, I had plenty of time to read reviews and I read both good and bad. Most of the bad ones were saying that it falls apart very easily, which to that I say, LEARN HOW TO BUILD. This set is extremely sturdy, and I experienced no problems whatsoever building, displaying, and playing with it. The good reviews compliment the details, etc. And I 100% agree. You can't see all the details until you've built it yourself. Looks amazing on display, is very fun to play with, and was very fun to build. The minifigures are amazing, though I did have to improve the display stand, because I wanted to be able to fit all eight figures on it. I did so fairly easily. Some small things that bugged me were the amount of stickers, but I do think all of them were necessary and tremendously improve the build. Building two identical trees at the end gets kinda boring, but when assembled looks so awesome. Even the box and instructions are awesome. They include facts about the show and more in the instruction books, making those exiting to flip through. Good job Lego.In short, amazing set, would definitely recommend, especially to those who enjoy stranger things.I wish they would make more of these sets.

3 major negative points:1- This set sells at 269.99$ CAD and has 2287 pieces. For the exact same price, you can get the LEGO Ideas Tree House, which as nearly 800 pieces more (3036 pieces). I know LEGO has to pay for trademarks, but LEGO should find a way not to put all the trademarks weight on fans shoulders. And keep in mind that for a price of 269,99$ CAD, other trademarks like Star Wars, Harry Potter or Jurassic World would give you a very larger set. So why is Stranger Things trademark so expensive compared to other big trademarked sets ???2- I don't know what is happening with screening and picking quality at LEGO since a year or two, but some pieces that should be the same colors, are not. Only for displaying. No playable quality there. LEGO really should specify when a set is intended for AFOLs only, cause kids will have a very rough time trying to play with this set. It always breaks down and falls apart. So in resume, for the price, yo uget a smaller than expected set, very fragile, and of different color tones that suppose. Ishhh...

Turn that frown to the upside down

This is a great set that provided a fun build. I estimate I have around 16 hours into the build as I would do a couple hours a day working on it.Stability:It's been a long time since I worked with lego so I was a bit concerned with some of the reviews regarding stability and how I would do with it since it's been so long. I can't speak to the issues some other folks have had but I did not experience any problems with the build. I took my time and made sure that every piece was locked together tight. I think there were a couple of times I knocked something off, but it was my fault because I wasn't paying attention.Build experience:I truly enjoyed watching the set as a whole come together as I completed each step. I think there were a couple of times I knocked something off, but it was my fault because I wasn't paying attention.Build experience:I truly enjoyed watching the set as a whole come together as I completed each step. Lego has come a long way since I was a kid and the quality/style of building materials is much more advanced than what I remember. The thought process and engineering involved in the creation of this set is mind boggling. I am extremely impressed with how the set was put together and how the pieces are utilized to lock everything in place in the final steps. I didn't find any of the build to be too monotonous as it sometimes can be when replicating parts of a build. I think it was because that even though the house was pretty much the same, there was enough difference in color and style that kept it interesting.General notes:Being a fan of the series, they did a great job with all of the items included in the set. The characters are spot on and all the little extras are great reminders of what happened in the first season. I also liked all the little tidbits of info that they put in the build book regarding the series. It also wasn't lost on me as to what bags the characters were located in. This would also be a good set to build with someone else as it could be split pretty evenly. My only negative comment about the set would be stickers. I hate trying to apply the stickers perfectly but even those have improved over time. All in all, this was a fun set to build and I would recommend it. If you are purchasing it for someone younger or a beginner, they may need some assistance in making sure the pieces are locked together tightly so the final step isn't frustrating to them.

A must have for a big fan of the Netflix series and Lego! The set itself captures the overall feel of the Netflix series, and once finished it is very stable to put on display. There is a small issue if used as a "play" set, as if you flip around the set, small pieces especially the tree "leaves" will come off with a tiny bump. But since this set is for ages 16+, so I don't think that would be a problem, but be careful when showing off the set to your friends! The only big issue I have is when putting both halves together, and pushing trees into the locking mechanisms at the sides can be very difficult to do without snapping the bricks off the house(s) and the base(s.) Perhaps it is a way to cut down on costs. And I LOVED the movie reference sticker(s.)Visually it look great, with the vibrant normal world and the constant, dark and gloomy look of the Upside Down world. The manuals comes with information by the designer of the set, and there are facts about what inspired certain parts of Stranger Things (like Eleven's disguise was a tribute to ET's disguise! I should have realised that the first time!)The mini figures is absolutely brilliant, and my girlfriend adores the Dusty mini figure like she adores the character from the series. I surely hope Lego will produce more sets, not just one-off set. I hope to see other mini figures, like Steve, poor Barbara, Eleven without her disguise etc.So please Lego. More of this!

[Flips game board over] “Upside Down”

I couldn’t be more impressed with this set. I’ve built many difficult sets in my years of building, but The Upside Down really challenged me in a way no other set has. The minifigures, first off, are amazingly accurate to the Netflix show, especially the four boys. I couldn’t wait to get to Dustin, my favorite character in the show. The build was pretty straightforward, up until you put the two halves together, then some thinking is involved. I’d recommend having two people, one to hold the halves together while the other pushes the trees in. The detail inside and out is just incredible, and upon finishing the real world Byers’ house I thought it could easily have been a set on its own. Both sides are packed with items from the show like the bear trap, the hole in the wall, and Will’s drawings on his wall. My only complaint is something no one else has said: when you flip the model over, the house in the Upside Down is reversed of the real world one. This is not the case in the show. Maybe I’m just picky, this would be an easy modification if I needed to. The whole model is stable on a flat surface although I am cautious when flipping it over to show the family. The best thing to do is hold the model by both of the roofs and tilt it over by my experience. Oh, and Hopper’s K5 Blazer is just perfect and fits onto a rock so when you flip it stays on. And lastly, the whole build is filled with great stickers that make the whole set come to life with details like the D&D rulebook and the alphabet wall, plus Upside Down versions of them. Overall, a great set for and Stranger Things fan or LEGO fan looking for a new challenge. If you’ve been thinking about it, just get it and you won’t be disappointed. Good luck and keep building!

Justin Ramsden has done incredible job designing this set. The cool about lego is transcends Ive seen many non lego fans marvel about this cool set. The idea of flipping it to the right side up or upside is a cool concept as well being able to display the set apart. You can't fault the set for design its brilliant has lot attention to detail with stickers and prop pieces. You can really see the love the designers put into the set.My one gripe with the set is the same others have mentioned durability. My personal feelings is the structure should of been extra stud wide. The other issue is attaching the ball joints requires a lot force more force the a single stud wide can support which may account for many people issues with this set. However its not a deal barker the set is too good for any stranger things fan miss out on. i love the set and all its Easter eggs it doesn't disappoint.
