I got this set as a 50th birthday present (I know...... But you're only as young as you feel! 👍🏻).This was a pretty challenging set to build and took a couple of hours a day over several days to complete, the first bags took the longest to complete given the ground work for the frame and gearing and pneumatics were in there. If I have one suggestion it's to mark the airlines to make it a bit easier to trace and connect when the time comes.I first looked at the stickers and thought they look garish but once they're on the truck it works, would I recommend this set?... You bet!... It's a great set that looks fantastic when complete. 5*

I love technic builds and this is no exception. The detail and functionality is awesome. My only complaint is box size. Lego sets are almost always in boxes that are too big. Take some of the air out of the bags and you can cut the box size by 2/3. Lego is taking steps to make packaging more eco friendly. Reducing the box size would save on so much packaging and shipping costs. Would also help customers who want to be able to store their sets but don’t have the space for the boxes. I only have one shelf in the store room where I can store my sets. By switching out the Lego boxes for plastic tubs I was able to store 4-5 times more sets in the same space. One tub for each set still uses less space because each tub is smaller and not 3/4 empty like the boxes would be

Building this kit was thoroughly enjoyable and took me about six days. It could be completed much quicker but I was in no hurry. The model has quite a few working features, some of which are pneumatically operated, and looks impressive when completed. My only criticism would be the way the pneumatics are operated. The small hand pump creates a jerky movement of the components. I feel this would be better achieved with a motorised system like other Lego kits. That said, at the discounted price I paid (ÂŁ120) this was good value for money and was fun to build. I recommend it.

This was a surprisingly challenging build. I picked up building these sets as a hobby to share with my son and now it's taken on a life of it's own so as an adult, finding sets that take time and attention to detail appeal to me.This set has a number of gear configurations where if you miss something minor, it will definitely come back to bite you. Aside from this being a tow truck and really unlike anything Lego currently has, this was an enjoyable build and a nice addition to my growing collection. For the price, it's worth it. So if you see it, grab it.
Great product, not over priced. Once lego puts a brand like Mercedes or Mack on an item, the price normally doubles to triples this price just for a brand. Great price for this item. To bad technical sets around the number of pieces doubles or triples just because they put Volvo, Mercedes, Mack, Etc on it!Besides the missing parts that I've already ordered, one Pneumatic gear not working properly. This set is awesome.Went and got some tyres from my local brick store until my others arrive. Also need Miltary Vehicles. I find lego to be hypocrites when comes to this.If they can make star war sets with war machines, guns, etc. (Yes, I know they're not real) then they should be able to make military Vehicles and mini figures as well.
I could not recommend this lego set more. Now in all fairness I did have some issues with missing parts (first time ever!!) but lego staff were exceptional in their efforts to help resolve the issue and showed they care about the customer experience. Helpful, friendly and supportive. This just made the overall experience great. This is the first technic set I have ever built and was constantly amazed at the small details, wondering how on earth they were able to design this. This is a must have set for any lego fan and I hope they might expand on this to include other trucks.
Pneumatically operated Lego Technic sets have become a bit of a rarity over the last decade so I was keen to see what this truck had to offer, I wasn't disappointed. An expert blend of mechanically operated functions such as the lifting axle, the outriggers, the rear boom lift, the slewing jib and of course the steering - all of which consumes the first two sets of numbered bags. These wonderful mechanisms are then complemented with the Pneumatically operated jib and tail lift. The set is very cleverly detailed with lots of minor assemblies required to create aesthetic features which mimic the real thing. For the expert builder, lots of variety in the parts list, not many new elements. Having looked at this set for months and always choosing other sets instead, this one kept niggling away at me. So I took the plunge and got it, and having just finished it I wish I’d done it ages ago. It’s a fantastic, fun, slightly challenging build, my first with pneumatics which makes it even more interesting, and the end result is very cool. I was planning to build without most of the stickers but ended up putting them on and I’m glad I did.As usual fantastic friendly service at the Carlisle store. I just wish they would do some sort of loyalty card scheme.
I enjoy the Technic sets and when I saw this I had to buy it. It has so many features! Having the ability to pump up the air pressure and then watch everything it does when you move the levers is amazing for the price of it! Every adult friend that has seen it had to play with the different functions and they were like kids again! I have to admit that I was too! If you can’t tell already, I love this set and will never get rid of it!
This is a VERY challenging build -- far more difficult than I expected. In fact, I would say this is more difficult than some of the larger Technic builds (Ferrari, Bugatti, etc.): this one has fewer pieces, but you really need to pay attention as there are various steps along the way where the build offers subtle (but important!) changes from what you otherwise might be used to with these sets. One suggestion: offer the occasional "Check your Build" feature like with some of the larger sets: again, this one doesn't have the piece count of the larger sets, but there is enough functionality that checking along the way would help ensure a solid final build. All in all a great set and one that far exceeded (in a good way!) the challenge I always expect and enjoy with ... MoreThis is a VERY challenging build -- far more difficult than I expected.
