An incredible build and a very cool display piece. Still, the price of these things is getting harder and harder to justify purchasing. I absolutely get the detailed complexity of these sets cost $ to produce, but when I can buy a major appliance for the cost o two of these sets, then well….it’s tough to justify. I’m an older adult so I suppose I have some amount of “disposable income” (although by no way a lot) so I can afford them. Every time I buy one, though, I think how many folks - especially younger - are simply getting priced out of enjoying these sets. Philosophical rant over, this is an incredible set. Tremendous fun to build and great display piece.

Loved this build! Found it to be the best of all the Technic autos I have built in this price point (Bugatti, Ferrari, and Lamborghini). Directions were better than prior builds and the new features are great! Great build for the cost! Door functions are much better than the prior aUris and I hit no parts in this build that flustered me (something some of the prior auto builds have). Highly recommend! Can’t wait now for the next Technic auto release! Keep moving in this direction and I will love these builds forever!

I became aware of the technic model after my girlfriend gave me the lamborghini huracan model. From then, I wanted to purchase the larger kit and just in time with a favorite car of mine. The build process is so unique, special, and fasciniating. I found myself amazed of all the working gears, pistons, suspension set up, and mechanisms of this kit. I believe the color is amazing and the look is pretty accurate however I do wish the front headlights and design resemble the P1 more accurately. Two main issues:Being my first technic model, I believe I messed up on the rear differential. The gearbox and transmission work as intended however when I move either rear wheel, they do not move together and the differential gear does not move. Is there a way i can access and fix this set up without taking apart the whole car?Second would be the spoiler mechanism or wheel, the worm gear has a tendency on pushing on the frame the mechanism sits on and the wheel sometime feels loose. Also similarily one of the door frame joints seem to come off easily. Lastly, the exhaust piece does come off a bit easy, maybe more secure pieces for the outer frame of the piece!I would highly recommend purchasing this kit especially being a first for me. Looking to get the others now!(Also at $450 price is too high, definitely should reduce)

I've built 3 of the other Technic supercars, and I can confidently say this is one of the best. The gearbox especially moves more towards a more realistic number of gears, utilizing some newer shifter fork and rotational selection elements. Besides that, it's a lot of what you would expect from these cars: many moving gears for the drivetrain, working suspension, doors, and steering, and an overall attractive final package.Personally, I still prefer the Sian's mechanisms and inclusion of AWD, but the intense green could very easily be seen as offputting. I think the McLaren is still a better purchase than the SP3 Daytona, which is a much more finnicky build.
Love lego and the cars are amazing in all senses. This would be a 5 star review across the board, but due to 2 missing critical parts I can not give 5 stars. The past 3 over $200 sets i have purchased have all been missing parts. I understand lego is undergoing the change from plastic to paper packaging the price paid for these should not result in missing pieces or needing to take up to 2 weeks for a part to be delivered with a note basically saying "sorry". I've grown up on lego and now as an adult I can spend my money on more expensive sets. I'd expect this from a knock off company but not lego itself. Throw us a small discount for our inconvenience. Rant over
This set was my first true Technic set. As someone who’s older getting back into Lego sets as a child from 2008-2012. Must say this was a must as a car enthusiast who loves fine craftsmanship from sports/hyper cars. When I found out this set was coming out from videos via McClaren I had pick this up, each bag was a fun step of the process including the transmission, I loved each step the build even tho it was quite a challenge. I did feel the price was high when compared to the piece amount but the box, the build process, to how it looks would say it’s worth the quality. Even tho I feel the front looks more like a 570s I can see the front shape of the P1 when looking very closely just gotta see how the headlights make shape then go it’s not super bad. The last “big” kit I got from LEGO was the Lamborghini. The Lamborghini was a fantastic kit to build. I thought that for the price, this kit would be just as good. I was wrong.IT’S BETTER!It was not as difficult to build as the Lambo. The McLaren P1 is so well designed that, although it is technically complex, it was a very stress free build. That is not to say it is an easy build. For example, somewhere along the build process, I missed something and the reverse doesn’t work. Obviously it was my fault. But the great thing about this is I get to disassemble part for the car back to the transmission part, correct whatever I missed and enjoy the build again. And who wouldn’t enjoy that?I would really love to see a 1/8 scale Aston Martin DB12 or Vantage. Or maybe ... MoreThe last “big” kit I got from LEGO was the Lamborghini. That would be awesome! In conclusion, if you are reading reviews to decide if you want to buy this kit, stop reading and buy this kit while you can.Keep it up LEGO. I don’t know how you do it but each big kit I buy is better than the one before. Two very big thumbs up!
First of all, the packaging is cheaply done. It doesnt have that "deluxe" feeling. Second, the interior is not that great, gears showing on both driver and passenger side, especially the passenger side where the gear is already eating up the seat. Third, the only power function is the rear wing. Where are for the doors like Sian and Daytona? Feel like this model is going backwards like the Chiron. I think Chiron is better than P1 and the P1 price should have been the same with the Ciron with its functions. I feel like the P1 is a mised opportunity for Lego to build and represent a prestigious super car. I hope Lego will make it up on 2026.
Overall I loved building this set. The transmission is beautifully complex, the doors have such a satisfying way to open them, and the wing and shifting is just so fun to keep fiddling with over and over. The box for the set I also loved. Really cool style with opening the box to seeing the stages of the real thing to the Lego. The body of the P1 was also really nice. The back end and doors were fun to build, however my only complaint about the set is the front end. I overall think this is one of my favorites up there with my SP3, but the front to me just doesn’t look like a P1. Maybe the 570 but not really the P1. Proportionally off for that part and I’m not as big of a fan of it, but otherwise yeah. Spectacular set.
First, to say something positive, it's an excellent designed supercar! My issue involves quality.. I have had several pieces that have been warped and the holes too small to insert a pin. I have had to use a power drill to open up the holes on several pieces. I have never seen so much poor quality from a company such as LEGO.. I literally have 10's of thousands of dollars spread across a lifetime in supporting this company. If this is where LEGO is heading, I will sadly move on. In addition to the various warped and poor manufactured pieces, there are so many missing pieces.. luckily for me I have a spare inventory to continue the build. At this point, short of opening every single bag to do an inventory check I could n't say for certain what I need to complete this ... MoreFirst, to say something positive, it's an excellent designed supercar! I just can't recommend this set unless you have the patience and inventory to complete this build. I expected a quality item at this price point... Sadly, this isn't that! Your milage may vary.
