I I built this using the digital building app, which was very fun and unique. There is a lever on the side that rotates the tail fin. There is not a crank to spin the rotor blades. It is operated by rotating the light tan gears on the bottom. I really like this little helicopter. However, I think that some experienced Technic builders may dislike the abundant use of stickers. I personally have no problem with them because without them the build would look very plain. I really liked the 40th anniversary brick, and to my delight it was a printed piece. I think that it is one of the better small Technic sets of year.

Although I've only flown an ultralight plane before and never having been in an ultralight heli, I am familiar with the mechanics of ultralights. The moment I saw this I knew I had to get one. The helicopter and aircraft design appealed to me as I love aircraft, space ships, and rockets. Opted to build the Experimental Aircraft and enjoyed the building experience. I expect to get some playtime with it and my daughter who is also a Lego Fan. The moving parts (pistons and propeller) are a cool addition, although it would have been great to have them move while you roll it. The color combination is also very appealing. Very sturdy, can take some rough handling, and rolls easy on any level surface. A stand for this kit would also be great for those who build them and have their Lego kits as display models. Highly recommend you get one. It is a great kit for the price.

Of course, I built the primary build first, so I’ll start with that:Primary build: 9/10This build used up all the pieces included, so it did takelonger to build than a typical $25 set. Still, the final product was mind blowing. Just by turning a gear at the base, the rotors would both turn at the same time. That completely steals the show from the other parts of the build. Still, the build is very display able and looks great. The only downside is the feature where you could move the rudder/vertical stabilizer from side to side. They could have just left the secondary build out, or tried to use up more pieces for it. On top of that, the set used way too many stickers and the price to part ratio is just okay. Received this as a birthday gift, and wow, was I impressed with Lego Technic® ?! I Know Lego from when I was a kid, but I never knew Lego grew into such an awesome company. Immediate new hobby for me :-) It was so fun to build this copter and I really took my time to savour every moment. I was left with about 5 parts which I assume is spare parts as I went through the book again and closely examined the picture on the box, but I then just used the spares and placed them into other areas (LEGO®, CAN YOU SPOT WHERE I PUT THEM?? :-) I just became a Lego TECHNIC fan for life!! Now to choose which one to build next....
This set looks good and does have a decent selection of movable parts for the price, but the real reason I bought this set is one it seems many don't know.This set #42057, combined with #42061 Telehandler, and #42063 BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, are all necessary to build a special 40th Anniversary Technic Set. The instructions don't seem to be common knowledge, but the PDF Instructions are out there. The special car is a tribute to the #8860 Chassis that was available in 1980.Thought I would pass that on to Technic Fans, incase you are interested in such.
This is my first lego technic set, and although it was very challenging to build, it looks amazing, has amazing play features such as the spinning propellors and the moving rudder, is extremely fun to build and is amazing value for the price you are paying for this! The wheels were done differently and very nicely, and I absolutely love this Lego Technic set as my first set of this theme.Nothing bad to say about this!This does take a lot of time and concentration if you are new to Lego Technic!
I bought the Lego Technic Ultralight Helecopter for a Christmas present and ordered it online for store pick up for the first time. This worked out amazingly well for me! I ordered it in the early afternoon, paid for it online and picked it up that evening. This truly eas the best of both worlds...online ordering AND in store purchase. Thank you Milks Fleet Farm! My grandson will be a happy boy on Christmas Eve! I will definitely use this method again.
I purchased two copies of this to put the A and B builds on a shelf together. Both are really quick builds and look good. It took an hour to build both of them.The rotors are clever and I thought they would be tied to the wheel, but this is not how it is in the original builds.The designer did a good job on both designs, they are clever and the A build rudder controls are well done.
this was my son's first Technic set. We are pretty impressed with the intricate moving parts and my kiddo loved building it step by step. Looking at the gears and rotors, he said "I think this the way engineers built the prototype before they built the real helicopter" :)
