For the $100 CDN price this is a great tablet. I use it for playing music, reading news internet browsing, shopping and playing word games. Its plenty fast enough for those tasks. It would probably be slow for higher end games but buy a high end tablet if that's your intent. Its mostly plastic but it light weight. The screen is clear and has nice color to it; more than adequate for what I'm doing. The setup was a bit of a pain having to go through all the questions and then updates. Everything on the tablet is slow when its updating. Once it was done it works great.

Some reviews of this product make a big thing of how slow it is. Seriously how much of a rush are you in? I bought this mostly for reading and it's fine for that. Works well for music and general viewing too. The supposed Reading mode appears to do little but I can make other adjustments for comfort on reading binges. The small size (think paperback) and low weight influenced my choice and are a bonus. Having used small form and large form tablets from other manufacturers, this compares well at the price point in everyday use in the real world. It's not a high end gamer or 4k movie streamer, but it's fine for me. Treat yourself to a handstrap for reading binges and you won't know the tablet is there.

Recently bought the M9 to replace Lenovo 8 2018, BUT I miss the 8 inch and the M8 is perfect upgrade.Lovely pocketable size, great for everyday use, text clarity and screen density v good for size and price, like the screen ratio for video, good customisable screen options for eyes- the grey scale particularly good for reading news.Processes fast for emails, browsing, videos also v customisable and easy to set up/navigate.For the money/specs it's a fab little device, longtime fan of Lenovo over other big brand Android tabs because Lenovo comes with fairly clutter free simplicity.Wasn't available in store, v pleased with next day collection Brent X.

Excellent if you don't mind G knowing all.

The Tab 8 is a useful tablet in an easily accessible form factor /size. It has three issues which prevent a 5 star rate. As with most Android devices it is not truly a Lenovo tab but Google. Not sure of the details about why this is the case, I suppose G pays L for placement. Doesn't matter, it amounts to a monopoly on Android which is meant to be open source. Also, personally, having G own MY machine is not acceptable. I remove all that Spyware first thing. Next is the OS. Specifically notifications and permissions. Managing these has become an arcane exercise and nearly futile for anyone who values their privacy and battery life. I can't emphasize enough how absurdly and unnecessarily complex this is on this device. Also, pairing to a phone to share calls and texts etc is not up to par. It kills battery life on both devices. The processor performance isn't up to it's rating. Not sure why but it's often slow. Battery life once set up properly and with pairing off is great but it takes too long to recharge. I've tried a couple of different stylus on it and am dissatisfied with the results. This is the ideal form factor for taking hand written notes and sketching yet it's not simple to do. Bottom line is this could be the idea phone companion or even replacement but falls short due to Google, overly complex settings and touch screen. I will probably install Linux on this one to fully evict G and improve the touch features.

I bought this when it was on offer, certainly wouldn't buy at full price. My Laptop is Lenovo and I'm very happy with the quality of the brand. I have 8" and 10" H***** tablets (with google play) that are amazing but battery life now wilting so need/needed replacements.Positive: Good weight, not light and flimsy. Simple to set up. Good speed booting up and moving around the device. Loaded with useless apps, but, very simple to uninstall them or turn them off before you start to use the device. Fast charge but then it should be straight out of the box. Good battery life, ditto, out of the box.Negatives: No own brand anti virus/cleaner package. Has Magic Cleaner, a generic storage cleaner app which is loaded with ads. No shortcut/widget for Internet on/off. Screen brightness is dire, 800 x 1200 is on the low end of the scale, (according to the Lenovo website). Impossible to enhance the brightness. Battery saver and screen resolution all impact the brightness so make sure to disable these etc to get the best you can.In conclusion, it fits my needs, web surfing, e mail (set up simple via gmail), and reading books but I can't rave about it. For the price I paid it's value for money. There isn't a lot of choice nowadays for Android tablets unless you want to throw silly money at S******

Quality Tablet
13 January 2024

Had this Tablet a week and so far I'm impressed. Very good set up and easy to update and move apps/shortcuts to your home screen. So far loaded main tv apps and downloaded some programmes to watch - all works well. The same with Podcasts and music. 64gb of memory and that is really useful.Comes loaded with some apps of no interest to most and a host of games - which I uninstalled so that it frees up memory. It is worth doing this. Finally screen brightness and at the top end it is not that bright .... but more than adequate for me.Excellent value and as I got it in the Christmas sale so that was a real bonus.

Review of LENOVO Tab M8 8" Tablet (4th Gen) - 32 GB, Grey
26 December 2023

Tablet is good for watching movies, picture quality is good and so is the sound. I bought it for my children, would say this tablet is for average daily use of google and browsing the web. Can also set up for a child which is also really useful and very much recommended. The children can use the google classroom on them as well, so they can do their homework on them which is also very helpful. So overall for child this tablet is handy which the right settings, set up of course. If you’re looking to use this tablet for work I would suggest using a different Lenovo device which better software. But overall happy with the purchase, kids ain’t moaning. So I can’t complain

[Rewarded Review] Handy Little Travel Companion
22 December 2023

Dandy little tablet. It was purchased primarily as an e-reader, but it's quickly become my at hand device for most small tasks. It's form factor and battery make it perfect for travel. I've put it through some heavy use during the holiday rush and I'm very pleased with it's performance. With the addition of a 1 TB card, it holds my entire book and music libraries. It's nice to have everything in one place while on the road. The tablet's not a powerhouse by any means. It tends to bog down playing large video files or when accessing my excessively large music catalog, for example. But it does fine with whatever cat gifs come up in your internet noodling. As long as you've got a few seconds' worth of patience, you won't mind the lag.Overall, it's been a great pick ... MoreDandy little tablet. [Rewarded Review] Makes a fantastic e-reader!
19 June 2024

I bought this tablet to use as an e-reader.It can quickly and easily download and access all of the apps I use for reading: Overdrive/Libby, Hoopla, & Google Drive. (My e-reader couldn't use Hoopla or Google Drive.)I can also access the other learning apps my library offers, like Kanopy and LinkedIn Learning (which an e-reader can't do).I bought a matte/anti-glare screen protector and a book-like tablet cover. With the "reading setting" softening the screen light, this has been the perfect e-reader!It's responsive, easy to navigate, doesn't have obnoxious ads covering your landing page (iykyk), it's able to use every library app, it's physically lightweight and easy to tote around, and more affordable than the cheapest color e-reader on the market. The ONLY ... MoreI bought this tablet to use as an e-reader.It can quickly and easily download and access all of the apps I use for reading: Overdrive/Libby, Hoopla, & Google Drive. That said, it still lasts for days: I read at least a little every day and I only have to charge it once a week or so.So, yeah, if you're in the market for an affordable color e-reader, I really recommend this tablet (as weird as that sounds)!

[Rewarded Review] Nice, Inexpensive Tablet But...

I had an older Tab7 that was painfully slow, after it was damaged I was hesitant to buy another Lenovo but honestly, I couldn't afford anything else. The tablet is faster and the battery life is good but...Android and/or Lenovo has limited the amount of notifications you can receive. One app is only allowed two a week, another four a day. I had bought this tablet to use for a video surveillance app: I wanted to take the stress off my phone. The tablet will run the cameras in decent time but with no notifications, it is useless for my intended purpose. Several of the cameras are in high traffic areas prone to trespassing and drug use so I need the notifications. The other complaint is the Duraspeed function limits background processing so until you figure it out, don't expect the tablet to allow the alarm to wake you in the morning. That's the trade off: Lenovo is using tricks to speed up and improve performance instead of hardware. For the price, it's not a bad tablet and I don't expect it to do what a more expensive tablet would, however my main grip is the policy of limiting notifications. If the tablet would allow notifications then I would have given it five stars, at its price point.
