Overall it's a great laptop. A little heavier than I expected. HOWEVER I have 3 Lenovo laptops and a desktop. I have 2 Logitech keyboards. ALL of them have the CTRL button on the bottom left of the keyboard with the Function button just to the right of it.This laptop has the Function button as the leftmost bottom button and the CTRL button to the right of it. This causes so many errors for me as I use both of those buttons frequently without having to look at them.I will check into whether the keyboard can be re-programmed to correct this. In the interim, I'm using my old, 7 year old laptop if I want to avoid the errors while typing. Why someone thought it was a good idea to switch them is beyond my imagination.

Satisfied with my new laptop, it is an improvement over my older laptop and better value than competitive models. I am happy to say that the blue light feature does seem to ease the strain on my eyes so it is a worthwhile feature to buy. I haven't put the computer through its paces yet so I can't really find glaring problem; the keyboard and touch pads are sensitive and responsive. Only minor complaint may be that the fingerprint sensor isn't 100 effective but then neither is the one on my phone. Also, of note is that the body could be a tad more rigid as it has a bit too much flex when picking up or holding the laptop by corner as we all tend to do. The screen does go to 180 which is super useful. Can't give it 5 stars since too early and it doesn't do the dishes!! ... MoreSatisfied with my new laptop, it is an improvement over my older laptop and better value than competitive models. He advised me with a lot of information, answered my questions for 1 hour and a half, made sure I'm comfortable with my purchase. When I have a small issue with this, the technical support also did a great job on explaining and troubleshooting for me.Cons: The only con I have here is the fan noise. I really hate the noise, and I dont want my laptop sounds like a jet. So the only solution here is set the performance to Power efficiency to reduce the fan noise. And battery life, is not that impressed to me. It can hold 4-5 hours max. I expect a longer battery life when it's not plug-in. It doesn't support charging through thunderbolt port so I have to buy another charger to use in my office. But I highly recommend this product for my friends, and people who hasn't tried the Lenovo Thinkpad before.

Spent 4 days setting up machine, then blue screen of death. I had the PC less than a week. Could not recover, went into loop reset to factory settings. Same thing. This was going to be my work PC only because I can’t run my work software on a MAC. Couldn’t get a replacement unit, they said they didn’t have any, then after 45 minute on the phone with post sales warranty support she said I need to submit a video of the error to be considered for replacement with another machine. Then she said the decision would take 24-48 hrs then I would get an email. I explained that I bought every extended warranty and coverage they offered that this was unacceptable. I need a business machine ready to go. She said this is their policy then I said then fine I’m returning it and I ... MoreSpent 4 days setting up machine, then blue screen of death. Hopefully that’s more reliable and customer service that will meet my business needs. I’m very very disappointed.
To begin, I recently decided to purchase a new laptop that could serve as a development workstation as well as a daily driver. I don't take purchases of new hardware lightly. I began running Linux shortly after the v2 kernel was released, back when vendor cooperation to help provide hardware support was very rare. After spending nearly 8 months going back and forth between choices for a new machine I settled on the ThinkPad P16v Gen. I have to say that I have never had a machine run both Linux AND Windows with such sheer efficacy and speed that it literally inspires a feeling of confidence in the user.I have yet to have it even throttle its fans up to high without explicitly TRYING to make it do so. You can quite literally throw 10 threads at a software build of a multi-gigabyte source tree and still get work done as it plows through. The hardware seems to be FULLY supported on Linux. I personally use Arch Linux and everything works from the fingerprint reader to the PRIME GPU offloading. There is ZERO doubt in my mind that this would work out of the box on Ubuntu or Debian. It even makes windows work enjoyable. It's worth every penny I spent on it. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Overall, I'm satisfied & the only issue I have with Lenovo is that they don't honor their "price match" promises. 2 times I submitted the required info & I've neither heard from them nor received a refund. They claim a 3-5 day refund & I first submitted it 31 days ago. As for the laptop, I'm still trying to disable the requirement of entering a password, finger print or use facial recognition every time I start up the laptop. I know that's an OS issue, not directly tied to Lenovo but I shouldn't need to be so well versed in IT to accomplish what should be a simple task. The other issue I have is that I haven't been able to charge it from a 12V source. If it had a slow charge capability I could charge from my home & travel based solar setups without using an inverter ... MoreOverall, I'm satisfied & the only issue I have with Lenovo is that they don't honor their "price match" promises. 2 times I submitted the required info & I've neither heard from them nor received a refund. The other issue I have is that I haven't been able to charge it from a 12V source. If it had a slow charge capability I could charge from my home & travel based solar setups without using an inverter or grid power. But charging it appears to require a minimum of about 150W (while off) & doing so from my 12V setup isn't feasible, yet.
This is my 4th Thinkpad and each one has been as expected. I value good performance, great screen and reasonable size in a machine that is dependable. My use is business / normal applications, with no gaming. Sure, many open windows / apps: excel, word, ms access, wordpress, adobe, etc. but no video editing. The 4 Thinkpads have been 13", 15", 15", and this 16" - P16v. Each computer has been a good value and performed pretty much as expected. This might be my last laptop and my initial impression is that it will be the best of all. I am loving the 16/10 aspect, it's just a little taller with more vertical screen information. Sure, this one is a little bigger and heavier than my P53s but the screen and performance difference make it easy to forget the slightly smaller footprint of the P53s.Performance is so far as expected. It is very silent and cool running Windows / Office / Internet, and I probably haven't even engaged the 6GB video card. The screen is clear, viewable from off axis, and ridiculously bright if you need it.If you know what your needs are, and research carefully, these Thinkpads are are as good as it gets. Just wait for them to hit the sale price that you are comfortable with. Lenovo did a price match for me when it dropped 3 days after I purchased the P16v (thanks!).
This laptop was made using Levovo's build your own service. Once ordered, it arrived quickly and packed securely. This I9 had everything one can think of and felt rock solid. It was easy to open and upgrade the ram and, after opening over 100 laptops in my life, this model was a very clean and easy open. I am very critical of laptop screen hinges for I see so many break prematurely. Though I couldn't see the whole hinge apparatus when I opened it, the portion of the hinges I could see were mounted to solidly to a large mass of plastic and metal - unlike most that don't have as much material to anchor the hinge to. The duel fans and cooling mechanisms are also massive compared to most I have seen. I really like the construction of this model.
The laptop works great and gives me all the juice I need for my CAD designs and assembly. The i7 and RTX A500 Graphic card are a tried-and-true combo! While I don't like a full keyboard with a numpad on a laptop, this one is comfortable, and the keystrokes are satisfying. I like the new option to swap Fn and Ctrl: it makes it easier when switching to other keyboards. The screen is good and the weird 16:10 aspect is nicer to work with. the added vertical space is more than welcome on Excel sheets! The first downside I see to this laptop is how bulky it is, especially felt on the commute to and from work, I prefer my old P1 gen 2 size for that matter! The second one is the power port and USB-C location. Why, in 2024, we still have power ports at the back of the laptop. It was stupid before and it still is today. And both USB-C at the back too? Way to make this laptop obsolete before it is even out. Nobody wants mandatory gymnastics to connect something at the back when the laptop is on its laptop stand at the desk! Because let's be honest here, that's the main use case of this laptop!
I purchased a ThinkPad P16v Intel (16″) Mobile Workstation in November as my current laptop (X1 Carbon i7) is 3 years old and didn't seem to have the power that I needed to have multiple projects continuously open. I was looking to increase speed and capabilities to continue to handle my expanding consulting projects with intense file sharing across 6 different microsoft 365 accounts. I think the combination of the added power, upgrade to Windows 11 and using an ethernet cable instead of wifi will keep me in top speed for at least 3 more years. For a discounted price of $2100, it felt like I couldn't resist this upgrade and I'm so happy I did it! My X1 Carbon is perfect for traveling because of the compact size and light weight. For a discounted price of $2100, it felt like I couldn't resist this upgrade and I'm so happy I did it! My X1 Carbon is perfect for traveling because of the compact size and light weight. I upgraded to Windows 11 and that helped, but also plugging in ethernet cable directly into router also quadrupled my speed. It doesn't perform to the level of the Workstation, but it's going strong and I'll continue to use it. I can also confess, that I received a 'senior saving's' for the first time of my life. I'm not embarrassed to be over 55 and the $110.95 off made it $2100 before taxes. Never hurts to use discounts if you look for them. I had to search a bit for mine. The computer was in stock and came in 2 days, free shipping. Of note, I used to work at Microsoft in the 80's and purchased my first computer with the same amount of money in 1988 and it had only 256k hard drive. I've had many thinkpads through the years from employers and am now purchasing them myself for consulting. They never broke down in my lifetime and this continues to be a solid reliable brand.
