I have used Thinkpads off an on since 1999 and exclusively for the past decade. I appreciate the facial recognition/presence detection feature.

If you are an X1 Carbon user, the user experience will feel similar with very little compromise. If you are primarily using this machine for portability / travel use cases, I don't think you can find a better fit. That said, there are 2 things to consider if you are choosing between the Nano and the regular X1 Carbon: 1) keyboard size and 2) lack of a regular USB-A port. I bought this about 2 months ago. I really enjoy the response of the keyboard and trackpad. They are built very well and no corners were cut in the assembly of this machine. The only caveat is that the computer gets very loud at night when I watch movies on netflix and hulu. The touchscreen is very responsive and well built. The display is also excellent quality but wont compare to higher end resolution displays. Overall I am happy with the purchase thus far but do hate the loud fan noises at night and sometimes even during the day.

The laptop is of the typical high quality of Lenovo products. In particular the metal case holds its own against any competitor. The functionality is intuitive with no quirks relative to my previous Dell and Asus machines. Comfortable keyboard and trackpad, even for larger hands. It is a good product. My only complaint would be the restart functionality after closing the screen/lid. The machine gets hung up on the Lenovo logo and requires a restart. Not sure where this issue is occurring (hardware or software level). Frustrating but tolerable. It doesn't happen every time.

After talking to the rep online they recommended I just return it and buy the sale price laptop again as it would be easier than getting a price match for the sale and initiating a warranty claim.I didn't over heat the device, and if anything the minimal fan operation and low temps on "better battery" mode was a fantastic aspect of the laptop.All in all, I got a lemon that wasn't even showing operational issues, and was so happy with the device over all that I bought it again. About 20% of all laptops from all manufacturers have some quality control issues according to a 2009 report from squaretrade.com, so I assume I was just either unlucky, or they haven't updated their list of newer beep error codes and I assumed the worst for just a minor issues. Though this is a gen 1 laptop, so keep that in mind when purchasing.

The ThinkPad E14 Gen 4 Intel (14”) - Mineral Metallic is solid little work laptop with enough processing power to keep all of my applications running smoothly all day long. I'm in accounting, but also manage a small office. This means that I can have any number of windows and applications open at the same time. In the past, this has caused issues for my work laptops. With this computer, I've not had any slow downs or frozen programs. Always a plus!I don't use it often, but this computer also has a touch screen.The only downside that I'm seeing is the lack of multiple charging input ports. I always worry that the constant plugging and unplugging in the same port will eventually cause issues. It would be nice to have an additional port to utilize.

Eventually picked up an X1 carbon (5th gen) and was blown away by how light it was and the impressive build quality. Then upgraded to a t480s for added memory capacity. But, they always felt too big since I had basically "grown up" with the 12.5" thinkpads.The X1 nano is perfect. It captured that same awe of how thin + light the machine is but it's also just the right form factor. The 16:10 screen gives it a very nice feel, in fact it doesn't seem much different from the 14" options in the X1C5 or t480s.Linux compatibility is great, and I get decent battery life with proper power configuration (9+ hours of medium-light usage). The fan also likes to come on a bit early without some adjustment.Overall, very happy. So far has yet to disappoint.
