The Leupold BX-1 McKenzie HD 10x50 Binoculars trades field of view (263' at 1000 yds vs. 304' at 1000 yds) with the 10x42 in exchange for nearer close focus (8.2' vs. 9.8') and 42% better low light performance. The McKenzie HD 10x50 employs Leupold's Advanced Optical System to improve light transmission, clarity, and contrast. It is waterproof, nitrogen purged, and fairly lightweight for a 50mm binocular. Previous McKenzie binoculars had eyecups that were permanently attached and had to be sent in for repair. The HD model has removable eyecups that can be replaced in the field if they get damaged.

Leupold McKenzie HD binoculars are pretty good considering the price point. I have a smaller pair of Steiner's that give the Leupold a run for their money in terms of clarity and brightness but the Leupold's feel sturdier. I like the adjustments and solid construction, however, the carry harness could use some work. I understand that it is an accessory and I want the meat in the actual optics but the thing that holds them 80% of the time around my neck needs to be a little better in terms of quality and comfort. All-in-all, I would recommend them to a friend.

Pros. An upgrade for sure. Clear optics, easy big knob operation, works with eyeglasses.Came with a chest pack, overall 8/10Cons. The “tubes” have to be close together to create a single image. Probably just me but the tubes are angled oddly in respect to each other. The eye piece covers are not attached in any way as opposed to the objective lens cover.

I decided that I would spend a little bit more than the cheapest 12x binoculars. These fit the bill. In the past I have bought cheap and they are just not worth it. You look through them and you are cross eyed. Your eyes don't line up together. These are nice, but because of the magnification the image gets a little shaky.

Love these binos. I used them on a cow elk hunt. Two days hunting in the 20’s each morning with no fogging or issues of any kind. The weight is great, the optics are great for the money. I ditched the noisy case the second day and used a different harness for the binos. Excellent purchase- highly recommend!!
I just bought these a couple days ago. Was trying to decide between Leupold and Vortex. Both have same warranties. I’m glad I went with these optics. They won’t disappoint. Have really good quality and feel great in the hands. The clearness was exceptional as well.
Having long been a fan of Leupold rifle scopes, I had no hesitation in purchasing the Leupold BX-1 McKenzie HD 10 X 42 binoculars when I needed an upgrade from my Brunton 8 X 30's, especially when Bass Pro had them on a Black Friday Sale with $100 off.The binoculars feature a flat field of view without edge distortion and have exceptional clarity. The oculars are generously sized which makes using them while wearing glasses a breeze and the light gathering capability of the 42mm objectives really make a difference in low light conditions. These binoculars would be ideal for bird watching as they can focus as close as 12 ft. The 10X power has a large enough field of view to still make target acquisition fast and easy. The roof prism design makes these lightweight as well as compact and the rubberized exterior is protective and ensures a non-slip grip. The binoculars come with a carrying harness that includes a integrated case for transport in the field. I'm a "strap over the neck and binocs inside the jacket" advocate (keeps the lenses from fogging up on really cold days), so I don't know how useful that will eventually be for my personal use. Still, a nice quality touch.Leupold does not disappoint with this product and I wholeheartedly reccommend them without reservation.
I’ll be honest I was in the dark in reference Leupold BX-1. Once I received them I knew this was what I was looking for. Medium size and weight, easy to use. Great carrying case. Easy to pull out for use and to store. I’m very happy I purchased them. Total difference between these versus other brands that I have. Always something else to carry. Almost like carrying an extra water canteen. Carry these like they were designed very comforting.Purchasing another for my son.
Got these as a Christmas present, thankfully the wife got them for the Black Friday deal and not full retail. Quality of the lense is not good. I have 10 year old Nikon's that are the same 10x42 and are much clearer. Adjusting the focus on these seem off as well, very sensitive and nothing ever looks crisp. Expected much better with the reputation Leupold has.
Wow, these Leupold binoculars are awesome! They have clear optics at great range, easy focus and anti fog! They are light weight which make them easy to carry. They come with a case for protection and easy carry. They have a lifetime warranty! Great purchase.
These are the first binoculars I ever purchased so I don't know how they measure up against other brands/models. But I got these on sale and for the price, it seems to of been a great value - especially since I am loving how clear and far I can see with them. The build quality seems high and adjustments are simple. Looking through them is a pleasure!
