It seems that the material has gotten thinner over over the decades. I got my first pair as a kid in Wyoming about 1953. Through the 50s and 60s, as I remember, the material was much thicker. You really had to wash those babies before you wore them. I returned these because they were to stretchy in the waist.

I like the below the fit bit without all of the stretch.Time to search for a new brand after 40 years.I got 505s for this go around but I’m not happy with the fit.I gave an extra star because of the great service I received in store.

Ordered three pairs of jeans in the 514 fit. All the same size just different colors. None of them had the same fit all where different lengths and styles even though they have the 514 panel

I have been buying 514's for years--its the only model that fits me well. This version is Eco Performance and the waist stretches out like a rubber band and you will need a belt to hold them up. If you bend over with no belt the back part stretches out and you can see down to the Grand Canyon. So they are comfortable to sit in all day--but with a strong dose of Elastane stretch. Fits different that all other 514's--I prefer the 514 version I got a year ago--I would not have changed the formulation.
I used to wear mostly 501 and 505 jeans, but a few years ago I decided to try a few more models. The 514 jeans are more suitable to my body type and proportions, and from now on this will be my default Levi's model. My only wish is to find them one day in the cottonized hemp line.
Nice looking pair of jeans with a comfortable fit. These work nicely as part of a casual outfit, but can be combined with a jacket for a somewhat more dressy look.
In a world of online shopping, Levi’s isn’t there yet. The order took two weeks to arrive and when it finally arrived, it was someone else’s order. Some one else is missing their order too. I got refunded but i still had to find some Levi’s. Stores don’t typically carry my size and hunting down a pair in the right cut, size and wash is not as easy one would hope. I still love Levi’s but getting them through the Levi’s site is a gamble.
The 514 that I ordered has stretch that I don’t like but unfortunately it is the least stretch available so I kept them. I never wanted to buy any clothing that bags out and loses shape so soon after putting them on. I wear a belt to reduce down sliding and the general discomfort the stretching causes. The flex jeans I returned because they are unbearably stretchy and so uncomfortable in their misshapen baggies. Because of “changing body types’ as one jeans maker said, all jeans need to stretch. Normal eaters are punished by having to wear their jeans bagged out so that Jean sellers can accommodate the overweight knowing that the rest of us will have no choice.
You sent me the wrong pants. You sent me 512 36×30 not 514 34x30. I called 3 times to get the correct pair. Third time you said keep the 36x30 512 pants and you would credit my account for $44.00.when I reorder the 514 pants is the price going to be $44.00
was surprised how comfortable these were compared to traditional jeans . also love the fit and able to get a long length ( 34 ) can be hard to find. as well as my waist ( 32 ) and i love that they are somewhat size forgiving, as i feared shrinking which did not happen i very much recomend these 10 stars
