LG 27MK430H-B 27" Full HD IPS Monitor

Bought this as a for my secondary monitor for streaming and it works like a charm. Colour accuracy is pretty solid and you have a decent range of presets available. Also comes with a 3.5mm jack, which is always a bonus, but above and beyond for a monitor of this price. Only complaint might be the stand, which seems to wobble a little bit more than I would've hoped, but really not a big issue. Great deal.

The monitor is attached to an HP docking station for an HP Elitebook 1040, and is a nice match of kit. The screen is light weight and on a solid but not too clunky base. The screen is bright and clear and is a real improvement on the 12 year old DELL VGA screen it replaced - of course! Competively priced in a range of screens from PB Tech. My only gripe was in getting the setup recognise the HDMI input as the only control button for the screen is a multi function toggle which is under the front lip of the screen and behind the LG logo - and there is only the briefest of setup notes with the screen. A quick Google query got me going.

Running the colour calibration tool on Windows showed that the contrast, gamma and brightness was pretty much perfect out of the box. - This monitor has a setting for super resolutions. I have yet to try it out, but it is there. I would suggest a buyer go for the 22 inch version of this monitor instead. I am fine with this monitor but I think a 22 inch would be better for playing games where you don't want to have to look around too much.

Doesn't last

My experience with this product seems very similar to that of another review writer here. The monitor was purchased in 2019 and worked without issue for about 3 years. At the time it was excellent value. Starting a few months ago, the monitor would sometimes power on with flickering horizontal bars across the bottom inch of the screen that would persist until the monitor was restarted. The monitor still functioned correctly the majority of the time, and the bars were nothing more than a minor inconvenience. However as of a few days ago (mid 2022) many bars both horizontal and vertical now rapidly spread across the screen within seconds of powering the monitor, and the monitor freezes indefinitely regardless of input or the menu button being pressed. This issue occurs every time the monitor is used, and also affects the no signal message when no input is connected, and so the monitor is now useless. Without this issue the screen is excellent quality for the price, but since the freezing problem seems to extend beyond a single isolated case I cannot recommend this product for any long-term application.

Flimsy poorly made monitor

I bought this to use as a dual monitor for my work HP lap-top. The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was how light and flimsy it seemed to be. Regardless, I put the stand on and plugged it in. It connected right away with my HP but I thought the res. was a little low grade and as I tried to slide it back a bit on my desk. My thumb hit the "auto-config" button on the bottom edge of the monitor. The image immediately started flickering in with white horizontal. lines running across. Tried everything to trouble shoot but controls are very limited. I plan to return it to Best Buy when their stores open again (Pandemionc lock down). What a difference, cost was an extra $10 over the LG but the monitor is solidly constructed, the controls are in a normal place. They even provided a VGA cable, which the LG monitor didn't. Res. is great, plug and play, no troubles.... Go Asus, do not buy this LG piece of junk.

In the end, it turned out to be a great performer and a good bang for the buck, so I decided to hold on to it! Picture quality: 9 5ms / 60hz I did not experience ghosting with this monitor. The colors are very much saturated, in fact a bit much for my taste. This can be adjusted in the menu. The viewing angles are very good from all sides! Features: 8 The monitor comes with a single "joystick" that controls all the settings on an on-screen-menu, or you can use the featured software to make changes too, which is very convenient. The stand can tilt the screen up/down about 15 degrees. Technologies include AMD Freesync or lg's own blur reduction system, dark zones brightening, and some other "gamers" features like having a crosshair show up on your screen. The inputs include HDMI and D-Sub. The output is an audio out (from the HDMI, so whatever shows up on your screen that has sound can be output through the monitor audio jack). I use it for headphones. Build quality: 8 If you have a shaky desk, expect the monitor to continously move as you type. The monitor won't fall or anything as the stand is quite large and stable, but the way the screen attaches to the stand makes it wobble like a bobble-head figurine in a car. Otherwise, while it doesn't look "high end", it doesn't look horribly cheap either. Overall: 9 When on special, it's a great purchase. While it's obviously not the most high end monitor around, it definitely holds it's ground against the competition. Pricier models will mostly feature thinner bezels and a higher luminosity / contrast ratio. Cheaper models will suffer more from bleeding, have worse viewing angles, banding, a slower response time, not include blur reduction, a tilt stand, features like "blacks highlighting" and the nice discreet on-screen-menu.

No Windows 11 driver is available (yet) in Aust.

The installation process for my new "2nd screen" was simple/straightforward, and on first glance the picture quality was good. However, when I connected it to a new Dell laptop (running Windows 11) there was a display problem. When attempting to read digital newspapers online I discovered that the shape of the "body text" characters were corrupted/incomplete. After attempting to resolve this issue with LG Customer Support, Dell Technical Support, and NewsCorp (the app developer) all support agencies tended to agree that my problem could be a screen driver/resolution issue. (This LG screen automatically installs as a "Generic PnP device" on Windows 11 PCs.) Not sure about this monitor...

Product was erroneously listed as having a display port... not a deal breaker since freesync works with HDMI. My problem with it is watching video or scrolling a webpage with pictures. Still looking into this as it may just be settings or the difference between the TN and IPS panels but for instance when viewing this monitor page on the LG site the image of the panel with a sunset scene looks great but when you scroll up or down the picture changes...its like the sharpness increases a lot and the mid-tones change color due to this then as the image stops moving the sharpness increase and the image slightly blurs back to the normal look when static. Video looks kinda off too but that could be the difference in resolution (was using 2x 1680x1050 TN panels, replaced one with this item) but goofing with editing video with my kid and we apply a slo mo effect and then the video seems to act like the images and quickly changed the focus or sharpness. This since its video it creates a flickering effect. If this is normal i don't think i want a 1080p or at least not a 1080p ips monitor as its very annoying. I hope this is a defect or can be resolved via tweaking settings other wise i will most likely return this monitor. For gaming i fired up Doom (2016) and it looked very good, a noticeable difference over the 1680-1050 resolution even though its pretty close to HD. So for gaming this is monitor is fine. The split screen feature is interesting and could be useful but it seems to require a reboot to enable or change the split layout which isn't very handy and i had issues with it picking up my mouse cursor in a game and bringing back to the desktop mid-game (game was in windowed mode but its a fullscreen window) Only other minor issue i had was it took a bit of looking to enable freesync...my first monitor with this feature and i thought it would be on by default but the AMD drivers said "not supported"...so you need to dig into the monitor settings and enable it first. Will update if things change if you can edit your review.

Tim's review of LG 24MK430H Full HD 23.8” IPS LED Monitor - Black

Pros: Easy to fit and does not take up too much space on the desktop. Clear display and plenty of easily accessible display options. Cons: Limited options for adjusting screen height or orientation. Not too much of a problem for me (of average height) but someone unusually short or tall might consider other models.

When it worked it looked great!

When I ordered this 15 months ago, it looked like a clear winner in the cost/benefit category. Nice step up in size, and it was the cheapest around. Installed just fine and worked perfectly for around a year. Then little lines began appearing, but only over the horizontal bar at the bottom of the screen. I wrote those off to some mysterious glitch, since everything worked and they'd fade away (or I didn't notice them). Until a couple of days ago... Now the screen has developed lines over the entire screen and it stops refreshing (doesn't reflect any changes from the computer) almost immediately. My old screen works perfectly with the same cables...
