Can't fault for using for work.

Purchased for working from home, after having used this exact monitor in the office. Replaced a dual 24 inch monitor setup. Good for having Outlook on one half, and Team on the other, or two Excel spreadsheets side by side. Works at the full resolution with both my work laptop (Intel) and my M1 Macbook Pro, with both laptops just using the the USBC cable for both monitor and power. One cable replaced the power cable, the HDMI, the USBC monitor cable as well. I did look at some 34 inch monitors in this category, from Phillips and also HP, which were similarly priced (even a bit cheaper with the sales at the time), but I ended up buying this one because LG also have a good reputation, and as I have used these at work, and they are great. Refresh rate goes up to 100Hz but I can't tell you if they are good for games. I tried playing League of Legends on the big screen; it fills the screen but it's almost too big; I tried Civilisation IV but it can't use the entire screen real estate. Speakers are OK and better than the laptop speakers, but it's as expected for monitor speakers. The control is by a little joystick bottom centre of the screen which I found intuitive to use. I mainly use this for work, so I can't fault this monitor for this purpose.

I only wish the monitor was equipped with a USB C port. I do not use this monitor for gaming, only productivity, and it's great for beginners. I purchased this through a price match for $350.00. I cannot fathom paying $500 for this monitor, and it's not worth $500.

Great monitor for photo editing

I really like this monitor. I got it so I could do some photo editing with it and with 99% sRGB, the colors look really good when displayed on this monitor. I thought we would have to color calibrate the monitor after we got it, but it already came color calibrated from the factory. Even after running our calibration tool against the screen, there was only very minor adjustments to make, minor enough that even if we didnt' do it, it would have made no real difference to the colors of the photo's I was editing. I like that the monitor is 27", but I think 32" would've been a little better for our needs. This is a 4k monitor with an IPS panel, which when it comes to color reproduction, is superior to both VA and TN panels. This is a 4k monitor with an IPS panel, which when it comes to color reproduction, is superior to both VA and TN panels. There are plenty of input/output connections in the back: 2 x HDMI, 1 x DisplayPort, 1 x USB C w/60W PD, 2 x USB 3.0 Type-A (Downstream) and a headset jack. For some reason manufacturers are not allowed to list the version of the HDMi being used, but this one uses HDMI v2.0 and DP v1.4, sadly it's not using the latest HDMI v2.1 spec. Something interesting that I just realized is that LG has something called LG Calibration Studio (True Color Pro) which is used to, as LG puts it, "ensure high color reproduction and accuracy on LG monitors". This software package is used in conjuction with hardware color calibration tools and it turns out the hardware tool we use is supported. Next time I use the hardware calibration tool, I'll try out LG's Calibration Studio software along with the software that came with our calibration tool and see how the two compare with each other. One thing I'm not happy with about the monitor though is that it came with a C-clamp style stand instead of a traditional desktop stand. On the good side though, it does have 100mm x 100mm VESA mounts on the back, so that was quickly fixed by using a universal VESA mount stand instead. I know it's supposed to save space by using a C-Clamp, mount, but not everyone can actually USE a C-clamp mount on their desk. Even my desk back at the office wouldn't be able to use this type of mount without dissassembling the desk first. With the exception of the Ergo stand it comes with, this monitor, with it's 99% sRGB color reproduction, is perfect for what I need it for, photo editing. disclaimer: I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion

Pros: This LG monitor is a great monitor with some special features that make a fab experience. Some of these include: - its low blue light, flicker-free technology and automatic brightness adjustment that prevents your eyes being strained; a USB-C so you charge your laptop and transfer data at the same time without extra cables cluttering up your desk; a fantastic Ergo stand you can tilt, pivot, extend, retract or change the height of the monitor for comfortable posture while working. Cons: The negatives are that the user booklet is quite limited in information how to actually setup the monitor on the pc and get the dual screen. The menu button is found on the bottom rear part of the screen and can be quite fiddly to move to your desired settings.

Monitor looks great but has major flaws

This monitor until recently was the only Thunderbolt 3 option for a MacPro 7.1 2019 desktop other than the XBR at ~3X the price. Visually it is a great display but has major flaws. In particular a flaky internal USB Hub. If other devices are connected to its internal hub, other than the computer it may result in a kernel panic on computer shutdown which manifests itself as a long shutdown delay and either a kernel panic on restarting or a 'watchdog' error message on login or both, The LG internal hub also has very limited power capability and over straining it such as charging devices from it may damage the board requiring repair. This was reported to me by an authorized repair center of my previous unit who showed me a stack of interface boards when I took my previous one in for repair. I took my previous one into repair after it failed after having it for 15 months - 3 months out of warranty. It was unable to be repaired due to display failure. The only support or compensation I received from LG was a few hundred-dollar check to purchase a new one as the cost of repair was the same or more than a new unit. While a solid stand it lacks freedom of movement. Horizontal movement is limited and the monitor cannot be rotated into portrait mode. I chose to use the VERSA mount and purchase a StarTech Monitor Stand which allows this. My advice, should you choose to purchase this monitor, be sure to get an extended warranty; do not use the rear connectors for anything other than connecting to the computer; and replace the stand with one that offers more flexibility.

I have now purchased two of the ultra-expensive UltraFine monitors from LG. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice.... Well, suffice it to say, I will never again buy an LG monitor. They don't last and the cable connection is extremely unreliable. The USBC connection is extremely finicky and loses its connection with minimal perturbation. Bumping the desk? That is definitely going to cause a problem. Drafty rooms or solar winds? I wouldn't bet against them causing a problem either. You can't sneeze around this monitor without losing the connection to your computer. The first of the monitors died about 3 months after the warranty expired. That one was purchased from Apple, and I did not realize that the product has a much shorter warranty from Apple than it does ...Ā MoreI have now purchased two of the ultra-expensive UltraFine monitors from LG. The first of the monitors died about 3 months after the warranty expired. That one was purchased from Apple, and I did not realize that the product has a much shorter warranty from Apple than it does when purchased from other sources. Be aware of that. Buy from B&H I suppose. After an extended and frustrating exchange with LG Customer Support, they finally decided that my monitor was, in fact, inoperable. The only repair store was about an hour away. I drove there, spent $150 for diagnostics and then found out the computer board would have to be replaced. The expense for that was prohibitive. Ultimately, I couldn't find a comparable monitor, and thought I would give it one more try. The most recent one has lasted 14 months before dying on me. It seems to be simply a bad connection with the USBC port. The computer can draw power from the monitor but there is no video. A monitor that costs this much money should last more than 27 months.... or 14 months, in my most recent case. Yes, it is a stunning display, but what does it matter if the monitor itself is so ephemeral.

Very reflective screen, bad control setup, low resolution
23 February 2023

I got two of these. The screen is VERY reflective, so much so, that it's uncomfortable for me to play games or work on. If you're using this in anything but a dark, or at least dimly lit room, you will see lights reflecting on it and possibly obscuring your view. I have lights behind me and the reflection is very annoying and distracting. I also don't like that every setting is controlled through a single switch! It works like a hat switch that you would have on a joystick. It makes it hard to navigate through the menus and change your settings, but maybe I just need to get used to it. Powering on is a single push of the switch, but powering off is a 2-step process. Not a big deal, but come on, a single 6-position switch to control everything? Completely unnecessary, complicated and clumsy. Finally, max resolution is 1920x1080. On my 24-inch monitor, that looks great. On this monitor, I can see individual pixels, and icons look ridiculously big. I gave two stars only because I got them on sale at a decent price and I will be using them for the side windows in my flight simulator, so they should be adequate. Otherwise I would have returned them.

Vicky's review of COMING SOON - LG 32'' 32UN880-B UltraFineā„¢ Display Ergo 4K HDR10 Monitor

Pros: Things that I liked: - Aspect ratio of the monitor, providing me two monitors in one - Screen Resolution - It has a solid brightness and contract for typical day-to-day use. Colour accuracy and brightness are good. - Stand neatly packing the cables. - Features: Enough Ports. One can also charge laptops through the USB-C port Cons: Things that could have been better: - Monitor Arm- it provides great movability to the screen and study but would have preferred a better one in terms of design, space it takes and the effective use of space. -USB port didn't connect to display as second screen the first time and had to fiddle with other ports to connect. - When use the monitor as one screen - it is not a good set-up for watching videos or cinematic experience as it ...Ā MorePros: Things that I liked: - Aspect ratio of the monitor, providing me two monitors in one - Screen Resolution - It has a solid brightness and contract for typical day-to-day use. Will ENHANCE PRODUCTIVITY with MacOS!

This is the review for the replacement that came in, since the first one was damaged during shipping. It works amazingly great with M1 MBP. I have been using if for 4 weeks now. APPEARANCE: The monitor if very sleek with a firm base. Dark Smooth and Matted Black in color. The base is very heavy duty and high-quality. I can make tilt and swivel adjustments with ease, as well as effortlessly adjust the height. Detaching the base to connect the VESA mount is as easy as lying down on a blanket and with the push of a button make the swap. I preferred the base since it was so solid, no noticeable wobbles. What I love is the amazing and seamless integration with my MBP. Detaching the base to connect the VESA mount is as easy as lying down on a blanket and with the push of a button make the swap. I preferred the base since it was so solid, no noticeable wobbles. What I love is the amazing and seamless integration with my MBP. If I close the MBP (clamshell mode), everything instantaneously appears on the LG 27" 5K monitor and I can continue working there as my primary display. At the same time, it maintains a healthy charge on my MBP. Using the Touch Bar, I can control the brightness level simultaneously on both the LG monitor and MBP display. I can also easily use the control center to to adjust volume/brightness settings on each. [As a side note: I tested connecting to my 2020 iPad Pro, and it only mirrors the iPAD. Great to mirror videos/photos and Apple Arcade games, but defeats the portability factor of the iPad.] Back to MBP: when not in clamshell mode, you can decide to mirror or extend the display to the LG 27" 5K monitor. The color identically matches my MBP retina-display. Also, the display is slightly glossy, and has only minimal reflection. I only noticed any bothersome reflection when trying to look for it, however, I do not have any light sources shining directly on the display, since the monitor is in the center of the office with only 4 equidistant recessed ceiling lights and a window behind the monitor (plus a lamp that I used prior to getting the lg 5K monitor). BRIGHTNESS: In my well lit office, I have the brightness level all the way up, and it is more than adequate. When I dim the office lights, like for a movie, I also have to dim the monitor because it then it becomes very bright. PRODUCTIVITY APPS: On initial connection, the monitor natively extends/mirrors to 1440p, which I prefer for general use and productivity: Word Processing and Database apps look sharp and the text is very crisp. However...when working with certain video and photo editing, increasing the resolution to 5K is amazingly crisp as I tinkered with some hi-resoution footage. Note: you must hold the option key in the display scaling and preferences to access 5k and other resolutions. GAMING: For games without fast movement, and emulations, I have no problem. I don't see any lag and it is smooth. It is rated at 60Hz, but I cannot attest to High Intensity FPS or racing games. VIDEO CONFERENCING: The camera is 1080p, and a comparison with my MBP (enabling the videoconference in-app HD function) reveals the LG 5k camera is a significant improvement. Image is much clearer. The speakers on the monitor are above average for a monitor, but they are not excellent. I’m usually dead center for videoconferencing, and have no complaints. But when multiple family members are in the videoconference I’m usually on the side and the viewing angle is only slightly diminished. If you are in videoconferences frequently, this is an amazing addition to the home office!!!!! PORTS: 1 Thunderbolt 3 port to connect your device to the display. 3 Usb-c ports on the back -This is perhaps the main CON, albeit, you can connect a usb-c adapter of preference via the usb-c port on the back to personalize the ports you need. This maintains a simple solution while maintaining a sleek set-up. I definitely recommend this monitor for anyone wanting to increase productivity with Apple ecosystem. The 27" is perfect size and I find myself using it mostly as my main display (maintaining my MBP in clamshell), except when requiring full screen for certain applications. When not in full screen, the screen real-estate is large enough to enjoy using multiple apps simultaneously on 1 desktop. If you’ve been thinking about it, and you have the means, you will not be dissatisfied. You will be very please with your purchase.
