Fantastic TV

We got this TV for our lower level as we have finally got the room redone after a major flood in the area a few years back. The tv arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. We chose to use the feet to stand it up on our entertainment center, which holds it securely. There have been no issues with it wobbling when the entertainment center is bumped or people are walking close by. The colors on this TV are fantastic! When compared to our UHD models, this is a huge upgrade. I’m not knocking them as they are great TVs for their price range, but this one definitely brings the screen to life and makes you feel like you are there. It does shine most when you are watching from a darker room as you can definitely appreciate the colors a lot more. It does shine most when you are watching from a darker room as you can definitely appreciate the colors a lot more. It is easy to swap through the various preset options (movie, games, standard, etc). The remote is easy to use and is big enough that it won’t get lost easily. Your favorite streaming apps are readily available and you can easily download additional apps with little effort. Once you set up your LG account, which I HIGHLY recommend, you can add the TV to your app which allows you to use the app as a controller if needed. We haven’t dug into the gaming aspect outside of our Xbox, but the visual for your gaming device is absolutely stunning. Even lower end or older games look much nicer. Syncing your Xbox/PS4, BluRay Player, and sound system are quick and easy. You can customize your Home Screen so you have your favorite apps pop up first as well as mirror things from your LG App. The sound quality of the TV by itself is actually really good. I was surprised at that because not all TVs give you good sound quality so we have went the route of soundbars because of this. We have been supporters if LG for many years, and even though we have gotten a few other TV brands here and there, we always come back to LG for our bigger TVs because they are good quality and they last. Our last LG that finally died was 10 years old which we replaced with the UHD for our upstairs living room. We are hoping that both that one, and this Nano Cell TV will give us another 10 good years of entertainment! We highly recommend this Nano Cell TV.

Great features + sound but cloudy spots on screen

I love the look of this TV on my wall...it is very sharp! The Features, connectivity, apps, speed is wondeful, and LG Channels with Over the Air Antenna is flawless for old school channel surfing. OH...and the sound is out of this world! No Soundbar and the sound is clear and has amazing low sounds for television only speakers. My gripe, which I thought I noticed when I got the TV a few months ago, is that there is a ghosting look of circles throughout the scree that are dark on a light screen and cloudy on a darker colorful screen. I tried to live with it...can't return this one for another now...and thought it might go away after use, maybe because it was brand new, but it hasn't and now I can't stop focusing on the hazy, ghosty circles. Amazing TV except for the spots, but maybe I got one that was a bit funky from manufacturing which makes me sad but I still love LG Products, I have plenty!

Improvements that can be made for product.

Subtitles are unavailable for certain channels/ programs, or just heavily delayed. When subtitles are unavailable, it may be hard for people to understand the program, especially when people are speaking fast. This will make watching television less enjoyable and more of a chore for consumers. A solution for this is to implement live caption into the television. Live caption, is already available for mobile phones. If phones are able to implement it, even when offline, I do not see a reason why this television cannot. Moreover, to increase customer satisfaction with the product, and to make this product available to more people, live caption alongside with translations will be the cherry on top. Translations would be useful for foreigners to understand English programs, and allow them to gradually learn the English language. This would make this product very sought after as foreigners would not need to subscribe to channels that speak in their language. To improve on this, different audio languages should be implemented as well, to maximise the market of consumers for this device. 3. Buttons to manipulate the television would be helpful. If consumers lose the remote control, they lose all control of the television, and it would be really inconvenient for them to get another one. If they choose to get another remote, until then, they are unable to watch the television. If they dont choose to get another remote, they lose all control of the television and are locked out of using it. Implementing buttons on the frame of the television allows for better customer experience, and making life for consumers to use this product a lot more convenient.

LG delivers!

What is it that a tv must do to be considered good? What must it do to be considered great? I asked myself these questions as I accepted delivery of the LG 65inch NanoCell 4K tv The eco friendly box is big with large print marketing all the greatness that lies within. I was excited to dive into it and get it all set up. But was also concerned on how difficult it would be. This is a major upgrade to the TV it’s replacing going from a 10 year old 55 inch to this 4K 65 inch “smart” tv. Made me wonder must one be “smart” in order to set it up? Only one way to find out. After cutting the straps off the box my wife and I got on each end and slowly lifted the cover off. After cutting the straps off the box my wife and I got on each end and slowly lifted the cover off. Make sure you give yourself some room as mentioned it’s a big box and the box cover needs to go straight up to get over the TV. Once the lid was off the first thing I noticed was how slim it was. Definitely perfect for wall mounting. However in my case I would be utilizing the stand for it to sit atop an entertainment cabinet. This is where it helps to have a second person. As to attach the stand they must be insert into the bottom of the tv and then screwed in so you will need one person hold the tv up while the person sets them in place. Once complete it was time to connect it to my cable box and sound bar. this proved way to easy. 1 HDMI for the cable box and one digital optical cable is all it takes then I hit the power button and the smile on my face grew as I was quickly able to follow the prompts to get up and running the TV automatically recognized my cable box and even my provider and programmed the remote this proved true for the sound bar as well although it probably helped that it was an LG as well. The television picture was clear bright and showed amazing definition. I turned to golf and doing so I immediately had the answer on what makes a tv great - a great picture with colors close to natural and details that make you see exactly what you would see if you were there in person and if you can get all this at a great price then that is a great Television, and the LG Nano Cell def delivers!

From when the box first arrived I knew that I was in for something special. The heavy duty cardboard advertising the contents had me itching to set it up. This was a much needed upgrade as the TV I was replacing was 10 years old or 150 in technology years. My worry was that it would take a good few hours to get it all set up and running. 20 mins later I was sitting down watching shows on my new 65 inch Nano Cell screen. I used the supplied mounting feet as my TV is not wall mounted. They are extremely easy to install with just one screw for each and although small they balance the large TV with ease. I like that they have rubberized grips to keep it securely put and from scratching the surface. 1 plug 1 hdmi cable is all that's needed to get it up and running then ... MoreFrom when the box first arrived I knew that I was in for something special. It recognized my cable box and the provider and programmed the remote accordingly only other input I had to do was enter a few passwords and codes for internet and streaming services. I used the remote to do this although you can also do it from your cell phone too. The remote is like a wii controller where the pointer moves based on where you are pointing it on the screen this is pretty cool. I did not mess with any other settings and not sure if I need to. The picture quality is insanely good and the volume from the rear speakers is plenty loud. So if you are someone who is intimidated by technology and concerned about if you have the know how to set it all up, I can assure you that you do and just like me you'll be watching your favorite shows in 20 mins or less!

NanoCell Technology Not as Great as Promised
13 May 2022

I bought the LG NanoCell Technology 43 inch 4k TV based on the marketing by LG that the viewing angles do not hamper the display colour or image. Please note I am not talking about very wide viewing angles, it is from a simple 3 seater sofa. Despite providing images from videos and thereafter from the Self Screen Diagnosis and highlighting the fact the image does not match from Left and Right viewing angle, LG has responded that this is the norm because it is an LCD panel. If that is the case then please do not market the TV as "Pure Colours with flawess consistency. If that is the case then please do not market the TV as "Pure Colours with flawess consistency. LG NanoCell TV displays Pure Colours with high consistency from wide viewing angles thanks to Nano technology. Colour consistency is a representation of display consistency in terms of colour and lightness. Certified by Intertek, LG NanoCell TV delivers a high Colour Consistency recorded as 100% by CIE DE2000 across 18 colour patterns with a viewing angle of ±30°. In other words, this means that LG NanoCell TV displays colours richly and accurately even when viewed from wide angles." This sets unrealistic expectation from a Customer's perspective. If LG thinks that it is ok for the image colour to not match from Left and Right Viewing angles, then it is a pointless discussion. You need to market your TV accordingly and not deny later that it is not the case when a customer raises a request thinking it's a defective product. It still would have been fine if the image colour matched from both left and right, even with the colour loss. This was not the case and hence I raised a request and received a response that this is standard behaviour.

Nice TV, but picture quality concerns
26 November 2022

Overall I'm not super thrilled with the TV, and it has to do with the picture quality. Setup is great, super easy, walks you right through everything with ease. Options - excellent, different configurations depending on your physical setup. So all that's great. But I'm disappointed with the picture quality. I've tried all the different settings, adjusted and tweaked things (standard and custom settings), and there are times when the quality just isn't there. Now I recognize this may not be the TV's fault - the incoming signal also has to be high quality (HD, 4k, etc.), so maybe there's an issue there. I'm trying to verify what my cable modem is delivering too, so that also may be an issue. It's hard to determine, but I still think I expected better picture quality. ... MoreOverall I'm not super thrilled with the TV, and it has to do with the picture quality. I wish there was an easy way to compare. I know when TV's are displayed in stores everything is optimized, but I've also seen plenty of LG TV's in other settings (like bars) that have gorgeous pictures. At some point I'll chat more with LG too, just to see if there's anything else that I could check or try. Size is nice, and features are great, but I still want great picture quality!

Not As Smart of a TV As Expected (See Why)
6 January 2023

If you only want to use this TV for viewing, it is pretty good for color and clarity. However, if you really want a smart TV for simple things such as TV on/off and volume up/down via an Amazon device, good luck. I have many things hooked up to my Amazon devices, unfortunately this is not one of them. You needed to download an app called LG ThinQ and I tried everything, including all kinds of directions from a Google search, to no avail. The reason I got this TV was for it's supposed smartness, and this particular model I have found out is a dud. I am forced to keep it because it cost me and lot to have it installed on my wall and the hassle of getting someone to do it, etc. I have spend many, many hours trying to get this to do things from Amazon devices and it ... MoreIf you only want to use this TV for viewing, it is pretty good for color and clarity. I just want to warn everyone that if you just want a very basic smart TV, this would be great for you because you can use the Amazon and Google Assistant for very basic smartness on a 2022 Smart TV. If you want to use it for voice control without the remote, this is not the one for you. Even the ThinQ app is only 2 - 3 rated stars and in my opinion not even worth that many stars. This is the first time I ever bought a LG TV and would never do it again and will return to another brand that is much more user friendly and reliable. I guess it is true, you get what you pay for.

Really really good picture, crappy OS
20 November 2022

Had this TV for a number of months now. The picture is incredible, blacks are pitch black, colors are vibrant while still totally accurate, sound is pretty good for TV speakers. If you're on the fence about buying this TV and you happen to see it for sale, definitely go ahead and buy it. Especially if you're going to hook a bunch of peripheral devices to it like a Chromecast or gaming systems or a set-top box. My only gripe about this TV is the kind of terrible operating system loaded onto it: WebOS. WebOS is slow, unresponsive, counterintuitive, and frustrating. The "app store" is a shovelware filled ghost town. The dashboard is minimally customizable. Will connect to a lot of different Bluetooth sound devices, which ultimately doesn't matter because you will never ... MoreHad this TV for a number of months now. Who picked that song? Good lord that awful song. LIFE IS GOOD. YEAH LIFE IS GEWD

The Good, The Bad, and everything else
18 December 2022

We recently purchased the 55" Nanocell tv from Costco. On the plus side we are extremely happy with the color and picture. I also connected a LG 2.1 soundbar and am happy with the sound experience. On the minus side the "so-called" Magic remote is the absolute most frustrating tv control I have ever used. Or should I say attempt to use. The trackball is so touchy as to make it hard to actually stay on point and launch whatever we are trying to watch. The extreme lack of documentation as to how the TV controls work is ridiculous. We have not purchased a new TV for probably 8-10 years and were using Amazon Fire cube and Roku for streaming content. Both of these devices were very straightforward and simple to navigate, I cannot say the same for this "Magic" remote. ... MoreWe recently purchased the 55" Nanocell tv from Costco. We have not purchased a new TV for probably 8-10 years and were using Amazon Fire cube and Roku for streaming content. Both of these devices were very straightforward and simple to navigate, I cannot say the same for this "Magic" remote. Once on the main screen trying to locate our apps is an adventure in itself. The streaming devices listed all of OUR apps front and center where choosing and starting one was very easy. The voice control is also a poorly designed feature as when we push the Alexa button it rarely brings up the actual app or channel we were trying to watch. Again more frustration. My older TV's came with a documentation booklet that literally explained every control and facet of the unit. The same for the streaming devices we used. I know companies are trying to cut costs and the controls are probably explained somewhere online, but I don't think after spending this kind of money on a new TV I should have to search for something that should be so simple. I have no idea how you would expect older people with little or no internet experience to feel good about purchasing a new TV that they cannot even begin to figure out how to use it. Again an actual printed manual would go along way toward making the TV worth watching with a much simpler interface. For me the "Magic" remote is probably the worst TV control device I have ever had. Please feel free to advise me as to how stupid I am to not be able to figure out how this thing is supposed to work. The set up alone was so tedious I felt it would be easier to adopt a child with less problems.
