The bloke had a cheap measurement tool that only measures single directional fields and limited to 2.4GHz. Being an Engineer I know that my own tool is more accurate but didn't want to argue with the technician.

My new microwave (PC: MS42960BG) is the same size, and I was told it replaced my previous model. However, I am disappointed with the Display Panel as the selection given is very confusing, and the instructions in manual are also confusing, having to work out what is the right setting to reheat and cook the different types of food. The table of contents does not mention Setting the Clock, which needs to be done when the microwave is first plugged in. It is not even mentioned at all until Page17. I feel that the settings on my old microwave were much easier to understand in general, and hopefully I will be able to get used to working my new ... Fantastic machine. firstly the dimensions of the microwave are very good for its 42 lt capacity. It fitted nicely into our kitchen cavity. It defrosts and cooks perfectly. The interior light is very good. You do not need to be rocket scientist to operate the machine and it is a very good price compared to other brands. Love the handle and the black and stainless finish. so far I cannot fault it at all. In summary, strongly recommend this Lg product . Bought in August 2022

Bought this back in 2019 and worked great until just out of warranty. Then the Magnatron stopped working. Thankfully it was replaced under warranty (with much hassle mind you, mainly from the service centre trying to get money out of me even though LG said it was covered for full expenses). Now less than a year and a half later the Magnatron has failed again. Judging from the glow inside the unit it was heating up the Magnatron but not the food. Luckily I saw it before it burnt my house down. Thought the Magnatron was covered for 10 years - turns out it is only for parts, not labour. Might as well buy a different brand microwave than pay the same price for the labour and have it fail again in 2 years.
This is my second LG m/wave. The first lasted about ten years. I expect the same from this one! I chose it for its features that suited my needs (as well as the longer-then-usual warranty). The only annoying thing is the musical chime that sounds when it is done. I have never liked this sort of thing so one of the first things I did was to work out how to turn the thing off: hold Keep Warm and Clear simulataneously till OFF appears. Sound can be restored when the unit is turned off and on at the mains. The various cooking/heating guides are accurate and it's worth using them.

Cons: -Too lightweight, so it moves at pulling the handle on the door. -The door system is way worse than the traditional push button system, less user friendly. -While it worked the "Smart inverter" takes significantly more time to heat up the food than similar 10 years old LG microwave. -The quick menu sensorial buttons are not comfortable, lacking some options. -It's started smell weird on the third day of use. By the end of the week it's stopped heating food. -Nice try to do something new with the interface but the old version of traditional buttons and "Add 30 seconds" button is better. -The exposed mica ... We purchased this item back in 02/20 after always buying Panasonic microwaves (2 over the last 15 years). This one lasted just after the warranty ran out, which is pretty poor for a unit this expensive. It was a shame that the store didn't have any of the larger Panasonics at the time, as we would have purchase another. We will be going back to Panasonic again as I would never buy an LG unit again. Plus we really hate the music it plays after it finishes.
Glass platter feels a little light. I am conscious of damaging it while washing up. Condensation on the cabinet interior is more noticeable than it was on the old microwave. For someone moving from the technology of the 1980's there is a definite learning curve involved. Otherwise, great capacity, excellent features and semi automatic cooking features.

This is a very smart-looking microwave, which fitted in with our oven and refrigerator. Took a little bit of adjusting to the door opening mechanism - pull, don't push a button - and the lack of buttons on the outside. The control buttons are mostly covered by the door, with just a couple of essentials visible when the door is closed. This makes for a more streamlined product with a very easy to clean front - and I love it. 1200W is very useful, too. A great microwave in a very stylish package!
