Powerful Robotic Vacuum The R9 features a smart inverter motor and LG’s AEROSCIENCE air flow technology to generate powerful mini whirlwinds of air to separate out dust particles and provide a thorough clean. Power Drive Nozzle The belt driven Power Drive Nozzle cleaning head rotates the roller while cleaning to help effectively lift dirt, dust and hair from a variety of surfaces. * Anti-Tangle Brush The anti-tangle design within the cleaning head helps to reduce the amount of hair that is caught in the brush and bristles. 5 Step Filtration System The multi-step air filtration system is designed to remove and deposit larger dust particles in steps 1-3 and deposit them in the dust bin, while finer dust is filtered and captured in steps 4-5. Removable and Washable Filters Dirt can build up on the filters inside your vacuum. The metal filter, cloth pre filter and fine dust HEPA filter can all be removed and washed in water to clean dirt away. Leave the filters to completely dry before placing back in the vacuum. Easy Emptying The dust bin can be removed from the vacuum cleaner body and emptied by simply pressing the release button on the canister. Detecting Objects, Understanding Spaces The R9 can analyse and remember information about the space it cleans with the assistance of a camera and laser sensor positioned at the front of the vacuum. Intelligent cleaning for enhanced performance. 3D DUAL Eye 3D DUAL Eye technology utilises a front mounted camera and 3D laser sensor in combination so the vacuum can accurately recognise its surrounding and navigate around household objects. 3D Laser Sensor The 3D Laser Sensor is able to detect objects to help it avoid collisions with obstacles as it moves around rooms in the house.

We purchased this robot almost 1.5 years ago, and we still love it.We use it exclusively on our fully carpeted second floor. Its truly is fantastic at deep cleaning carpets. Just for the heck of it, I vacuumed after R9, and my 2000W vacuum cleaner picked up almost nothing. We can hoover edges better manually as we shove and pull more vigorously without much care for the floor skirting, but R9 does everything else better, while we're at work! :)We scheduled this robot to clean every day when we're at work.We do have to "prepare" the house if we want it appropriately cleaned though.Firstly, pick-up all cables from phones, laptops, etc., as R9 does get stuck on those.Secondly, we lift everything off the floor that's not needed to be there, dog bed, boxes, ... We love it, and our R9 is now nicknamed "The Lady" :)Even though its a robot you still have to look after it but what gives you back in return is clean floors, no if's or but's!I only wish LG would come up with auto-empty systems like other brands started offering. We never had issues with Wi-Fi connectivity as previous reviewers but then again, its an IT house :)

After my last robo-vac broke was refunded, the ladies at the store convinced me that this was the best way to go. After paying a considerable amount to make up the difference I took it home, excited to have the newest technology.Does it vacuum? yes. and it does a pretty good job I will admit. But it promises to return to charge and only charge up the amount it needs before it continues cleaning. Well if it manages to get back to home base, it does a full charge and then hours later it continues cleaning. This is super fun when it turns on at 2am and scares the entire household awake.Apparently, it has a self-learning function, meaning it learns how to clean the house more efficiently as time goes on. This is true to an extent - in all fairness, learning to skip entire rooms does make the cleaning go faster.Getting it to map your house, so that you can use the app will take time. Be prepared to almost throw your phone away - because you will attempt to do this several times. Oh, and between each failed map, it needs to go back to recharge for hours. Anyway, once it's actually mapped it's ok - but if you have an open plan concept then your entire living area will be one room. Would be great if you could set virtual boundaries/manually separate rooms on the map and name rooms as you wish, instead of using their weird icons.Rugs - forget it. It may promise to clean your rugs, but it appears to have some serious problems - the times that it actually does get up on a rug it seems to then get scared of heights and refuses to get down. Also, if your rug has any sort of pattern on it, this is too confusing and it may just drive around in circles until it runs out of charge. Other times it doesn't even bother trying. If you're really lucky it will just "clean" the corner of your rugs - just enough to leave behind anything that was on its brush.Home guard - I was so excited for this. Except I cannot even start to get it working so nothing to see here folks.Anyway - if you haven't had a robo-vac before I urge you to wait until the tech gets at least 32.3 x better ... if you're unfortunate enough to have experienced this luxury, you know that you now can't be without one. Do yourself a favour and buy a cheaper one, because it's likely to have the exact same problems and this one.So, does it vacuum? Yes; when and where it wants to.

I bought this unit one week ago and am thoroughly impressed.Instructions for connecting the unit to my household wifi were a little confusing at first but actually proved pretty straightforward. It navigates with amazing precision and is able to reach any nook or cranny physically large enough for it to enter, it does a good job on small spaces approaching from various angles for maximum coverage. It can probably reach every space I could be bothered reaching with a conventional vacumn cleaner. Edge mode works very well cleaning right up to the skirting board and right into the corners of the room.I live in a 118 square meter apartment and it is easily able to vacumn every room on a single charge in about 45 minutes. It's quite enough that I can sleep while it vacumns as long as the bedroom door is closed. It does a very thorough job of cleaning, I had manually vacumned the whole apartment manually 2 days before buying the unit and it managed to suck up an incredible amount of dust I missed (about 5 full dustbins worth). My apartment is mostly carpetted and I don't have any pets. The dust bin is easy to remove with one button push and easy to empty with a second button push. The whole unit is very well designed and incredibly easy to use.

With so much promise and wanting the very best we paid a premium price for this machine. Initially it worked fine but within six months the machine kept losing contact with our wi-fi thereby neutralising all the so called benefits and extras, like mapping. Every effort has been made on numerous occasions to re connect the machine with one of the three wi-fi bands in our house but to no avail. The on-line chat operator elevated the status of our issue, gave me a case number, but I heard NOTHING since then. I then tracked down the nearest service centre but they only accepted drop offs at certain times and there was to be around a 3 to 4 week delay. I have tried to see if there is a reset function but there appears not to be. I've tried to find if there is a firmware ... This is the most expensive vaccuum cleaner we have ever boughtand we can only get it to work manually. Don't buy it or if you do don't expect any support from LG.
Look, it scoots around the house, and it cleans. But it has some serious issues:1. It's really difficult to connect to the Wifi - 2GHz networks only, and the instructions are wildly unclear. If you ever want to change networks, it's really hard to find the information you need to do this.2. It's terrible at navigating. It constantly bumps into things (any not just chairs, I mean walls, cupboards - big stuff that's really obvious), and my unit is now covered in scratches and bumps - along with all my furniture.3. The "smart" software is limited - there are some really annoying restrictions on "no go" zone settings - there's a limit to how many you can set, and restrictions on their size. When combined with the fact you're really going to want to try and use "no go" zone settings to stop the unit from bumping into things all the time, these limits are really frustrating.4. Because of the issue with it bumping into things, the features that sound great - like edge cleaning to get in there and deal with all the stuff that accumulates near objects - end up being unusable. So, you're still going to have to either use a broom or go around with another cleaner to deal with those areas anyway.I'd recommend you save the cash, and wait for when a model comes out that doesn't have these issues.
This robot cleans well, but it's not without it's issues. Ours does not connect to our wifi, not sure if it's because we have dual band 2.4/5GHz wifi but it has refused to connect since day 1, which means no schedules and no app control. It also does not recognise ledges, and has fallen down a step (onto a pillow because I knew it would happen, not my first robot). The cleaning power is great, it happily cleans tile and carpet without issue and can jump over edges of carpets and table leg stands up to about an inch (2.5cm) without a problem. The battery life is quite good, running for a good 1.5-2.5hrs when needed, and the dirt bin is big enough to allow for all the dirt from that duration of cleaning. The dirt bin is easy to empty, only slight issues are the rubber ... Yet. All of our previous robots have died around the 18 month mark from the amount of cleaning, so 6 months from now we will see!
Bought Three of them for myself and parents. After testing a few others and returning them this was what I settled on. Unit is extremely smart with smart turbo mode on as it knows what surfaces it's on and adjusts motor speed accordingly.Have two dogs and parents have two big dogs.Unit works great on hard floors and carpets but doesn't like stringy rugs. Small compromise for something that cleans your floors for you.You must monitor the suction line for blockages as my dogs shred paper and plastic that can block it. A simple vac out with the big vac looks after this. Filter and barrel cleaning is easy with warm water and some flushing.Biggest thing is it must be looked after and checked as it picks up things that are hiding under couches that you wouldn't ... I bought this a year ago for a 70m2 house with no carpet. My dog and I are the only occupants, and while it worked ok, not well or brilliantly like one would expect for this price, it soon went downhill very quickly. It states it has detected a problem with the wheel something, but being hearing impaired, I can’t understand what and upon calling Joyce Mayne, was sent on a bit of a wild goose chase, I’m not shooting the messenger and Am aware they’re doing their jobs. Currently I am saving up, and have been for several months to take it into be looked at, it is now out of warranty, though that is apparently irrelevant as I didn’t pay to get the full works at time of purchase. But if you have longish hair and a pet, perhaps look at godfreys pet robot vacuum for your lifestyle. I originally purchased this Lg robot vacuum for its compact size, and have been kicking myself for the year I’ve had it.
This is an amazing product. Finally my wife and I can sit back and relax while the robot vacuums the house. Previously I had a Roboking Square robot which also costed an arm and a leg but was pretty much useless compared to this new robot cleaner. The cleaning power is as good as the stick vacuums which almost cost around the same price but you still have to do the work. With this robot, it vacuums the whole house by itself autonomously and gets back to its base for recharge whenever required, once fully recharged it will then continue the vacuuming from the last spot where it left off. It also does auto-mapping of your house so you can select which specific areas you want to clean. Unlike its predecessors or competitors, this vacuum will pick up all kinds of dirt ... My Review of the LG -R9 Master Robot vacuum cleaner.I set up wifi & mapping, opened all doors, removed any obstacles e.g. fluffy bathroom mats, & the LG-R9 entered & cleaned every room without issue, producing an initial map that it updated each time it cleaned. To be fair, the mapping is best after about 3 excursions as it intelligently improves the mapping. We have fitted textured wool carpet, heavy traditional rugs in some areas with black edges, (which my returned Samsung Powerbot couldn’t touch) 1 shag pile rug & lots of tiled areas. It even climbs approx 2cm to clean our ensuite. It cleans edges & has amazing obstacle avoidance. The LGR9 uses 3D laser instead of physical bumping so it cannot harm furniture. It gives a good deep clean; the full dust caddy & ... It even climbs approx 2cm to clean our ensuite. It cleans edges & has amazing obstacle avoidance. The LGR9 uses 3D laser instead of physical bumping so it cannot harm furniture. It gives a good deep clean; the full dust caddy & clean floors under bare feet prove it. The 200mAh battery life is outstanding; I get two hours use & it charges in 4 hours. It is the quietest robot we’ve had (55dB). It never had a problem with anything in our large lowset home! I know because I supervised it for all of the first clean (2 hours) after my bad experience with the Samsung Powerbot. Also, with the app on your phone you can see where it has cleaned. Before I purchased the LGR9 I read the reviews, one of which said it scratched floors. The brushed & bar are soft so this could only happen if it picked up something sharp left lying on the floor (e.g. screw) which was then dragged around. I think people need to carefully read the instructions: the hours for cleaning can be set, so no 2am cleaning; set up ‘no repeat’ so that it doesn’t clean a room ‘3 times’ etc.Give the LGR9 a chance to learn the layout of the home & you will be amazed!
