Our LG 1408NCW is the hardest working appliance in our home. With two teenage boys and a prep-school age teacher in the house, dirty clothes is a daily occurrence. The machine is easy to use and very intuitive. We have linked it up to the LG ThinQ app and always know when the washing is complete and ready to hang out.The appearance of the machine is sleek and clean, fits well within the laundry setting and compliments the dryer as a set.All up, we are very happy with the quiet operation, cleaning performance and energy efficiency. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new washer.

Better than expected!

Purchased 2 months ago. Was split between this machine and the Miele. In the end chose the LG because you would need to spend over $2,200 to get a Miele that had the same features. So far has exceeded expectations. Leaves clothes feeling very clean and has even managed to remove old ink stains that my previous washer couldn't. Too early to comment on the machines durability. The water intake pulses at the start of each cycle which makes the water hammer caused by these instant valves seem worse than your typical washer but turning the taps to around half way has resolved this issue. Would highly recommend.

Flawless Hardware... Software needs some work.

Our first Front Loader and we love it, takes everything we throw at it.Downloadable wash mode is a nice feature, but only having 1 slot for is quite limiting. I'd prefer to see fewer pre-set modes and more custom slots.You can't always customize your wash mode like you think either (configurations are limited).The quick wash mode is great to quickly rewash stuff if you forget it, BUT it has a really short SPIN cycle that leaves clothes soaking (this can't be changed) I'd rather a quick wash with a proper spin cycle.

Good machine, but could be better

The machine is very good in many ways - it looks good, it's quiet and does the job - but it takes oh so long! The wash cycles are inflexible, for example a full load can take over three hours. Some of the specialist cycles are shorter, but cannot be used with a full load. What busy people need is a light wash cycle that can do a full load, and spin it at the highest speed, that takes no longer than about half an hour.One other issue is the water inlets operate in "spurts", causing excessive water hammer (banging in the house water pipes). Perhaps LG could consider providing anti-water hammer valves with the hoses.In summary, the machine does the job, but would not suit busy people who need to get the washing done within a reasonable time.

Because of the way the machine seems to open and shut the flow of water so quickly, our house water pipes rattle and thump. Quiet machine, clean clothes

Pros - Very quiet machine. Easy to use programs. Like the turbo clean function, quicker and cleaner clothes everytime. Love having the notification on my phone after the cycle is finished. No dirty water or residue left on the rubber seal.Cons - Have to set up in the app in order to have the rinse and spin function. When the washer overloads it doesn't stop and give an error code or notify me, but keeps spinning slowly forever until I realise something's wrong and turn it off myself.Overall, its a very reliable washing machine. Always gives me clean clothes.

Other cycles weigh the load and then decide how long - so on these cycles you never quite know how long the wash will take until you are committed (tends be on longer cycles).The “quick 14” (minute) cycle is all but useless as the spin is limited to 800rpm and cannot be increased to the 1400rpm maximum (to improve the drying time) and as there is no option to spin only, to get a 1400rpm spin, then requires the rinse+spin cycle option taking a further 20 minutes.There is an option to download other cycles (using wi-fi) which may suit your particular needs. However, to do this, you must give up on the last offered cycle the rinse+spin, (and unlike my old machine there is no additional option to spin only). I would have liked to be able to download other of the cycles, but it would mean continually changing back to the rinse+spin which I use quite often. There are many highly specific cycles I will never use, so I find it strange that this practical option is the one being replaced. It would be nice if there were a couple of spaces to download other options, or even to create your own favourite saved settings. So potential for future products.The accompanying manual is not very comprehensive, I had to play with the machine and make my own notes. Also, I do not like the tinted black glass, it is not possible to see what is going on inside the washer – the door need not be glass at all.What is interesting are the other wi-fi features, messages are sent to my phone to tell me when the wash is finished, also data on how efficient the cycle was and accumulated data on how many washes are done each month. Amusing at first, now I use it all the time.Weighing up the pros and cons, would purchase again. Reliable job LG. pretty ordinary

Had machine since late March. Washing for an invalid the machine is used daily. Found there is no single "spin only" cycle. Can't spin soppy hand washed pieces."Rinse and spin" only; found accidently. The short wash leaves items soppy. Too many long wash cycles. The "ding" sound went ages ago. Why bother calling a repair person for just that. I live with the inconvenience. The only plus, I can comfortably fit each wash into barrel.
