This is my first every dishwasher and what a corker. I did a lot of research and picked a free standing machine that had all the bells and whistles I fancied. Cutlery tray instead of the usual caddy, variable height drawers, eco features and all over cleaning make this machine a godsend. I also did a lot of research on detergent and settled on giving tablets a miss for the ultimate cleaning performance. A squirt of gel detergent in the hopper, a little squirt in the pre wash hopper, fill up the rinse aid, test the water with the included hardness test, set the salt level to H0 for my soft water and the dirty dishes and pans come out gleaming and dry. It fits into my ThinQ eco system alongside my washing machine and dryer it shows completion notifications on my LG TVs and with an add on in Home Assistant I can do all sorts of automations based on the cycle stage and the levels of the fluids. Outstanding.

I have several LG appliances so was prepared for the high quality that I have come to expect from the brand. The dishwasher has a smart finish to the exterior, however it would be nice if the buttons were hidden inside the top of the door as they are with some of LGs other freestanding models. There is a wide range of cycles to chose from, with more available to download via the ThinQ app. Most of the cycles take a long time to complete, presumably down to the energy and water efficiency and the fact it actually does a good job at cleaning heavily soiled dishes. The steam function does a good job of cleaning and leaving a good finish however I have found that the items washed on a steam cycle come out quite wet even if on an ‘extra dry’ setting. The smart wifi features aren’t anything to rave about. You can download one extra cycle from ThinQ app to the machine and it’ll tell you how long left whilst running. No remote start features etc. It is however the easiest way to set the water hardness settings and rinse aid dose amount. The app will also tell you how many cycles have been run so you know when to clean the machine (every 30). This is also displayed by an LED on the dishwasher though. Overall a good quality, good looking machine that does a good job of washing dishes!

From the moment it arrived I was impressed; the packaging was well thought out and I feel plastic and non-recyclable materials were minimised. Before use, there is a small amount of prep which included, removing tear off film from the internal drawers, some foam spacers and fitting some rubber trim and additional sound deadening. Also if you have a porous worktop there was some tape supplied to install and prevent steam damage to the underside of the worktop (door pops open at the end of the cycle to help the drying process, this can be switched off). Once all the parts were fitted the machine is slid into place and levelled, the feet were easy to access and levelled easily. Before running the first wash you need to setup the water hardness, and fill with salt/rinse aid. This again was an easy process as you can either look it up on the water companies website or use the included water hardness test strip. Smart app setup is super easy and as I already had the app installed it detected the dishwasher seconds after pressing the Wi-Fi button. A nice touch was the dishwasher seemed to be automatically registered on my account and registered for warranty, as I received an email shortly after. There are a large number of features that can be turned on/off and you can also download ‘new’ cycles from within the app if there is something else you need over and above the standard ones. All in all, this is a fantastic dishwasher that not only does the job superbly but also is super quiet and satisfies the techie part of my life. Now what other LG appliances can get for the home? Pro’s • Quiet. • Great cleaning ability. • Easy to use. • Stylish. • 'Smart' with ability to integrate into Home Automation systems. Cons • The very top trim is plastic and scratches quite easily. • Requires a little assembly at install.
