I have not read this book yet. It is by the same author as Big Little Lies, Liane Moriarty. I found this in a Blessing Box, similar to Little Free Library. People leave items for those in need like food, toiletries, clothing, dog food, and books. I am planning on taking food items, dog food, toiletries, crochet hats and many books on my next visit.

Spellbinding and complex, Liane Moiraty does it again with a beautifully written and thrilling story. The husband's secret was a little bit of a slow start, but once I pieced together the plot it was hard to put down. It felt like I was starting a new book three times, and I wasn’t sure how they fit together at first. Once I realized how they fit, it became much more interesting. The story follows three women’s lives and shows the situation from each of their perspectives. This book weaves a complex and interesting story that requires you to pay attention. It dives deep into all of their lives and the problems they are each facing, as well as connecting them all together to the bigger story. Cecilia finds a letter from her husband to open only if he has died. Which he hasn’t. He is very much alive, and adamant that she doesn’t open the letter. The husband’s secret isn’t revealed right away, which I loved because it kept me guessing. And when she finally read the letter, it was not what I was expecting. The way the story wraps is shocking and perfect. A karmic ending for most of the characters. I didn’t see it coming. I say most of the characters because I really grew to love some, and I had hoped Tess’s story would have ended differently. Though the author probably chose the more realistic ending. I connected with the characters and was invested in their lives and what happened to them. Nothing about this book was what I expected. It kept me guessing the whole time. A truly exhilarating book with so much depth.

I have a habit of trying to guess a plot or ending of a book as I read. But this one always had me second guessing and on the edge of my seat. The story is beautifully written. It is one of the stories that follows multiple characters but they all some how intertwine with one another’s lives. You’ll be pressed wondering what the main character Cecilia will do after learning her husbands secret. How will the events unfold and affect all the other true and humble characters.

I really loved this book it was a great read! In the beginning it was a little hard to follow, it switched between a lot of storylines. However once the plot picked up everything made sense. So many twists and turns I was not expecting! The epilogue was a jaw dropper as well it really makes you put things into prospective! Highly recommend!

The opening passage in Moriarty’s The Husband’s Secret is in regards to the legend of Pandora, which is very appropriate considering the book’s plot. The story follows three women threaded together by a terrible secret, unbeknownst to them all. The only common bond the three likable protagonists know they share is their connection to a local school.First is Cecilia, a mother of three girls and wife to John-Paul, the writer of the letter referred to in the book’s title.Next is Rachel, an older woman whose life revolves around her two-year-old grandson and her struggle with her daughter’s mysterious death. Finally there is Tess, who deals with intense family issues, especially with her closest cousin, Felicity.Moriarty’s fluid writing style weaves the ... MoreThe opening passage in Moriarty’s The Husband’s Secret is in regards to the legend of Pandora, which is very appropriate considering the book’s plot. The story follows three women threaded together by a terrible secret, unbeknownst to them all. Even more shocking is the mercy shown by the characters and the resolutions to which they arrive. The novel ends with an epilogue of sorts, in that its words wax nostalgic and clearly answer the eternal question, “What could have been?”.

Awesome Story
31 August 2016

I just finished reading this and I loved how all the stories played out, in the end. There are several character stories, going on in this book, at one time. Each chapter is a character and it alternates between the different individuals. And, I love how it all came together and the ending is explained. "None of us ever know all the possible courses our lives could have and maybe should have taken. It's probably just as well. Some secrets are meant to stay forever." Love it!!!! What is meant to be, will be!

Fantastic

This book had me hooked, start to finish. I love the way the author told the story from multiple points of view, it's so interesting to see how the characters not only interact but what they actually think of each other and what is going on behind the smiles and pleasantries. Being based in an area I know well also helped me relate to the characters, as well as them being seemingly average, suburban Australians, though as the pages turn all is not as well as it seems! The plot was engaging and developed naturally, fantastic writing. I couldn't put this book down, I ended up reading cover to cover within a day, it was that good!

I needed to know and you will too!

I had to know, I didn't want to, but I HAD to know what he was hiding. Was I shocked? Yes. Surprised? Yes. Did I lead it to my Mum so we could talk about it immediately after she finished reading it? Also yes. Shocking and stressful, I couldn't put it down.

SO "readable
16 September 2015

After being thrilled with this book, I have now give three copies to others as presents, and they, too, have all enjoyed them as I did. We all read them very quickly, as the author engages the reader from the first page, and the first character. With facts carefully but surreptitiously planted throughout the book, Liane Moriarty brilliantly ties all her hints together with great dexterity, and leaves the reader saying, oh yes NOW I see!Living in the same area that this book is written is a bonus - give one a great sense of intimacy with the setting and the characters. The author's writing style is fluid and extremely easy to read. Clear and concise description make one read every word with enthusiastic ease.

Wonderful Winter Read!
1 February 2018

Wonderful read! I read Big Little Lies and really liked it so I bought alll her books. It is winter and I didn't want to get caught inside without them. I read this book next. I love a book that I cannot figure out who done it until the end. Her books have a lot of characters so they get a little confusing in the beginning. But you soon get to know each one individually. Reading What Alice Forgot now.
