Lillet - Blanc 750ml

Lillet is a French aperitif wine that has been produced since the late 19th century. Created in the Bordeaux region of France, Lillet is a blend of wine and citrus liqueurs. The exact recipe is a closely guarded secret, but it typically includes a mix of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc wines, along with fruit liqueurs crafted from oranges and other citrus fruits. Lillet is available in different varieties, including Lillet Blanc, Lillet Rouge, and Lillet Rosé. Lillet Blanc, characterized by its pale golden color, is known for its fresh and floral notes. Lillet Rouge, with its reddish hue, offers a more robust and spiced profile. Lillet Rosé, introduced more recently, combines the elegance of Lillet Blanc with the fruity characteristics of red wine. Lillet is often enjoyed on its own over ice, and it is also a key ingredient in classic cocktails like the Vesper and the Lillet Spritz. Its versatility and distinct flavor profile have contributed to its popularity as a stylish aperitif.

Lillet Blanc is a lovely treat in cocktails as one component of many. We often enjoy a summer sparkler with Lillet over ice and sparkling water (usually San Pelligrino), and I find the blanc to be a bit too sweet. The Lillet rosé is fabulous when you can find it for the sparkling water combination and a berry garnish!

I read a review of this wine in a cooking magazine and thought I would try it. I am so glad I did. The review had an interview with member of the winery's family. She said you should keep the wine very cold as you drink it and suggested slicing oranges and freezing the slices to your glass of wine. It is lovely. I also tried frozen berries. This is a lovely sweet wine with a higher than usual alcohol content that is perfect for sipping and relaxing. It is becoming my decadent go to wine.

This was the first time I had tried this and it is a fantastic drink, it is great as a treat. I did try it neat and it was too strong for me like that! I tried mixing it a few different ways, my favourite was the suggestion they give on the bottle with tonic water however I used elderflower tonic water which really made it a lush drink. This won't be the last time I purchase this and I have nearly finished this bottle.

For all seasons?
16 December 2021

Lillet blanc is subtly perfumed, with a light breeze of orange blossom and jasmine, overlaid with passionfruit and the sweetness of ripe apricot. The taste is a delicious melee of citrus peel and glac? fruit, shot through with honeyed pine that lingers like a summer memory, just out of reach. Supremely versatile, topped with Fever-Tree, fresh green cucumber spirals and bruised thyme sprigs, it is an ideal companion for brunch; equally delicious when mixed with bourbon for a darker, more wintry taste, best drunk when curled up by a roaring fire.

Give it a try!

This is a must for a quick refreshing summer or any season drink! Keep cold in your refrigerator. … serve with a lot of ice and if possible add a thin slice of orange. …..serve on ice on its own or add tonic or seltzer water with a slice of lime. It is always refreshing. Guests who try it for the first time are always impressed and refreshed. This has been a staple for us for 50 years!

Nice Aperitif
9 August 2022

I'm a big fan of Aperol Spritz so I assumed this would be very much like that. Lillet Blanc is very sweet; however, when mixed with club soda/sparkling water it's a very nice, light summer drink. And the club soda cuts the sweetness. Think of it as a wine spritz and add a slice of orange. Very refreshing on a hot summer day.

Nice and sweet

This is a top quality wine although can be a little sweet if having a full glass. I added a little ice to cool the glass then added a little amount of elderflower tonic, I tried normal tonic and it can take away from the lovely taste this offers on its own. It is also very nice on its own served cold. Will buy again

On the (too?) sweet side
4 December 2021

We had never tried Lillet Blanc before. Based on a recommendation, we picked it up as something to sip on before Thanksgiving dinner. It was too sweet for our personal taste, but we can see where others might like it. We enjoyed the herbaceous notes on the finish, but we're unlikely to purchase again. Others who prefer to sip on something sweeter might really enjoy this.

Unusual refreshing drink
24 January 2022

Lillet aperitif - I used the "signature serve" as directed on the bottle and blended one part Lillet to two parts tonic water. Cucumber was my garnish of choice. Mixing reminded me of pimms and lemonade, but the taste was very much different. I thoroughly enjoyed the recipe and look forward to trying other recipes in the future. Very refreshing.
