The HX One from Line 6 is a wonderful upgrade to their M5 pedal. Stereo i/o, a host of fantastic sounding effects that cover pitch, drive, modulation, delay and reverb. It's a great option for when you need a couple of different sounds but don't want dedicated pedals. Overall a great option for most players.

Works as an addition or single effects. Great sound and plays nice with fuzz, boost, distortion, as well as older stuff like adrenalinn. It's simple to use, offers several routing options, and feature cool new functions like flux. At this price most people can take a test drive.

This unit was highly recommended to my son for his keyboard. He is always experimenting with new sounds and needed something that could have real time expression capability and this unit checks the boxes. Quiet, clean effects and the ability to use an expression pedal on the fly( with certain effects) has made this a perfect pedal for his uses. If you are needing more than one effect at a time, you may want to look at other devices.

Great little pedal. Very versatile. Ive set in front of my amp (Strymon Iridium) and use for overdrive, pitch, wah, compressor and as a tuner. Use it with a m valve chocolate midi controller with 8 presets. Decent but to be honest do think HX Stomp would make more sense value wise but what some other pedals with just switches and no menus
I’ve had an M5 on my board for many years and while happy with the sounds it was always a bit temperamental and an awkward size/shape. This new update, the HX One has the same physical connectivity options but packs them into a new compact die cast enclosure. There’s plenty of newer HX sounds and the best of the old M series are still there. I use less than a dozen self configured presets from the Mod and Delay categories and then control it via MIDI from a loop switcher along with individual Overdrive/Comp/Boost pedals of choice. Used this way it allows almost infinite sound possibilities without the tap dancing. The tuner is indispensable too. We’ll have to wait and see if the reliability has improved but the other changes are definitely for the better. As I ... MoreI’ve had an M5 on my board for many years and while happy with the sounds it was always a bit temperamental and an awkward size/shape. Called PMT on my return and they refunded me on the delivery cost without any fuss so I’ve no outstanding gripes and will use them again but with standard delivery next time.
Very intuitive to use just like all Line 6 products. Im using this as a utility pedal in front of my modulation, delay and reverb. The overdrives and compressors in this box are outstanding. Vintage Digital Delay is really really good as well. Surprisingly small format.
Wowzer what an addition to my existing pedal board. TBH took me a little while to get to grips with the functionality, but the video from Lee and Paul did help me eventually come to grips with it.I use HX One as a simple stand alone pedal, I just change the effect accordingly to the songs that I need the effect for. Push/hold/turn ... simple eq and set-up capacity as well.If you want to hear it in action you can even come see the band in action in London ..www.halo-band-london/events.Hope to see you soon, hope you enjoy the sound and the music
Sound:The effects are all right out of the Helix series so if you are familiar with them and like the way they sound, you will be right at home. In my opinion about 90% of the bazillion effects Line 6 has are musical and useable. Some of the pitch stuff is still a little behind, but still passable for live use. They also include the "legacy" effects that are in HelixFeatures:The Flux feature looks promising but I haven't spent too much time with it yet. It's not as gimmicky as I was expecting I will say that. Editing is all done on the box and it's pretty straightforward. The preset management is well thought out. They allow you to limit the number of presets in the 'rotation' so you don't have to scroll through 128 if you only use 7. They allow you to limit the number of presets in the 'rotation' so you don't have to scroll through 128 if you only use 7. There is a Preset manager PC/Mac app that allows you to rename and reorder but not edit. I also like the versatility of the input/output options. It can be ran in line on your board in front of the amp, in mono 4 cable method, or you could technically put your drives in the HX One effects loop so it could be used before and after drive pedals on a direct to front of amp style pedalboard.Ease of Use:Most of the effects are usable as they are but editing is very easy. You can run just about all the effects in stereo which is nice.Quality:By all appearances it's made very well.Value:I bought mine on sale, but even at MAP of $300 it's a great value. The HX series of effects is mature and stable and updated regularly. You are buying into a platform that has been proven over the last 8 years. The only comparable pedal I can think of is the Eventide H9 which is still twice the price and limited in other ways.Manufacturer Support:I've only dealt directly with Line 6 a few times over the last 20+ years and they were helpful. They also have a sponsored user forum full of people that are willing to help you out.The Wow Factor:I think this pedal will best suit traditional pedalboard/amp users who could use a really good Jack of all trades pedal to fill out their sonic palette. If you already have a Helix or other digital modeler this really doesn't add much. The one exception might be an HX Stomp user who could use that one extra block for DSP heavy effectsOverall:If you like the sound of the Line 6 HX series of effects then this could be a great pedal for you. Yes, it only does one effect at a time but it does most of them very well. It's like a Leatherman or Swiss Army knife for your pedalboard. I think it's a great fit for a cover band gig. I bought one to put in front of my amp for various modulation and pitch effects. I don't use them enough to justify the board space or cost, but when I need them I'd like them to sound good. The HX One does that job very well. It's not perfect, but it's incredibly useful.
I'm a pedal guy who loves analog. But I wanted something that changes my sound that I might use for 5 minutes. The HX ONE is the answer. All of the modulation, reverbs, envelopes and delays sound amazing I'm so happy I bought 2 one in my effects loop and the other in the front end. This will save you loads of cash but a great platform for 250+ pedals you can have whenever you need it.
