The HX Stomp XL delivers professional-grade amp and effects processing in a compact pedalboard format that doesn't compromise on power or versatility. Building upon the success of the original HX Stomp, this expanded version features eight capacitive-touch footswitches and the same SHARC DSP chip found in Line 6's flagship Helix products. This processing power enables up to eight simultaneous blocks, giving guitarists and bassists access to the same high-quality tones and effects that have made the Helix series an industry standard. With over 300 amps, cabinets, and effects at your disposal, including world-class polyphonic pitch-shifting capabilities, the HX Stomp XL covers an impressive sonic range. This extensive library ensures you'll find usable tones straight out of the box, while the deep editing capabilities allow for complete customisation of your sound. The HX Stomp XL functions as multiple devices in one compact unit - use it as a standalone rig, backup system, tone expander alongside other modellers, or professional audio interface. Its stereo effects loop supports 4-Cable Method integration, while the expression pedal jack and comprehensive MIDI capabilities make it an excellent master controller for complex rigs. The free HX Edit application provides desktop editing, preset management, and IR loading functionality, making sound creation and organisation straightforward and efficient.

Just like Goldilocks my Helix experience was the LT was too big, the Stomp too small, and the XL was just right! I love Line6 and the Helix, but there are some shortcomings with some of the effects so being able to take the power of the Helix and put it on a board with your other favorite effects is a killer combo. I tried the regular Stomp with Morningstar MC6 setup but I much prefer having it all on one unit so my board has a focal point. Already being familiar with the minor operational differences of the LT, the Stomp XL was the perfect choice for me. The colored LED rings around the footswitches are easily recognizable if you are used to Helix. It's also easy to use and set up on the board thanks to all the connections being in the back now. Where do I begin? What a fantastic unit. I've played it both through a tube, stereo 4x12 rig and an FRFR and it sounds incredible through both. The delays, the mods, the tube amps, the pedals the IR options. The most exciting thing about this is the sound! The Helix class software lets me play like me and sound like me. However, another fantastic feature is the edit-ability, and that you get Helix Native for 99 bucks that loads in full Helix profiles with tons of presets. I love loading the profiles into Native and scaling them down for Stomp XL. Another is the portability. I can tote this thing around everywhere and not even feel the pain of dragging around heavy processing gear. I haven't had it long and am just digging in, but i can tell you, it gets more and ... MoreWhere do I begin? What a fantastic unit. If you want a Helix but don't want to spend the coin. This is for you. Has the same modeling, amps and effects that the Helix does at half the price and a quarter of the size.I own the HX effects, and this pedal is for my other pedalboard. I run it in 4 Cable mode. What is nice, is that this included the preamp of the amp models as well, so I can run the preamps into the power amp of my existing amps for more versatility. The larger footprint and more foot switches are nice and more usable than the HX Stomp. Also, I have this setup exactly the way I use my HX Effects, so they are virtually the same as foot switches are concerned.Actually, this unit makes the HX Effects obsolete because it does everything it does, plus has all the amps, preamps and IR ... MoreIf you want a Helix but don't want to spend the coin. The Stomp XL is the perfect format for a stand-alone rig, especially for bass. With the added foot switches you can build a rig and have access to the 6 switch looper. Great for practice and improvisation. It also is great as a centerpiece for a pedalboard. With the steep effects loop you can run your dirt pedals into the front with your amp and cab and add your own reverb and delays in the loop anywhere in the chain. I definitely recommend it and am super impressed.
Overall:I just got the hx stomp xl about 2 months ago and it is killer. The installed presets have a few good ones, but you can get tons of free ones on the line 6 website. My headrush gigboard is now collecting dust in the corner now. I can't quit playing this thing. If you want phenomenal tone, without paying $1500 or more this is it.
The HX XL is intuitive and a lot of fun to use. It has so many applications. I’ve been using it to practice on headphones, in front of my amp and on gigs where amplifiers are frowned upon! The sound of the new cabs in the 3.5 update makes me think about just using it for all my gigs. Having the extra switches compared to the HX stomp means that all the sounds I need for a gig are right in front of me. The flexibility of being able to program the foot switches and add MIDI commands for other devices gives endless applications for the device.
Great for a travel or compact rig. Sounds great and most importantly, sounds the same as its bigger brothers (Helix Floor, LT and Rack). Only limitation is the number of processing blocks and input and outputs compared to those. It is also compatible with HX native as well and can be used to record directly and ReAmp via USB. Cannot fault it.
Title says it all. I love my Mesa Express and my Marshall TSL100, playing them with my ridiculous array of boutique pedals - through my stereo, closed back-front loaded cab with it's Celestion g12h in one side and a v30 in the other is always a thrill… However(!), trimming down to this Line6 HX Stomp XL as the center of a fly rig has opened up so many more opportunities. Being able to have digital variations of my studio rig + fit in my guitar's case or a backpack has allowed me to be able to confidently take gigs way outside my former tourable area. Sounds are all there if you are patient enough to dial them in. I paired mine with a Dunlop (x) mini, which is all you really need if you are going direct, and also have an Orange Terror Stamp in 4 cable set up on the ... MoreTitle says it all. A brilliant piece of gear. I downsized from a Helix Floor, because i wanted a separate wah, tuner and preamp pedal. But i use the Helix Stomp XL for amps, delays, reverbs and modulations. I find it the perfect balance between digital and analogue, as I can go 4 cable method into an amp but also straight into front of house if I need to, with presets on my helix for both.
This pedal sounds incredible, and is very portable. With a stomp pedal, initially I was worried it would require a lot of menu-diving and multi-function buttons. But, the interface is surprisingly easy to use. I can chain 8 effects faster than if I had physical pedals. After fiddling with it, it's pretty intuitive (I didn't need to read the manual, but just watched a demo video). The effects are nicely categorized and easy to find. The amp emulation is incredible. You will need to watch a video to understand the looper. It's assigned like an effect in the chain (easy), but you also have to set a button to control it. The looper might be the least intuitive component, but you can set up a patch with it configured. Overall, it's not hard to setup, but requires an extra step that is not at all obvious. All other effects are fairly intuitive. The default patches cover bass, keyboard, direct input, and external sends. You'll probably want to install HX Edit and replace some of the default patches. A couple default guitar patches are great, but just need a noise gate inserted at the beginning.Though I wondered why it only holds 128 presets, as these would use virtually no memory. Maybe this is more of a UX decision, to avoid infinite scrolling. Otherwise, it looks easy to backup and change patches via HX Edit. Instead of allowing 4 snapshots, it might have been more flexible to just allow saving 512 presets. My only nit is the touch-capacitive function on the buttons 1-6 stopped working. I suspect it might be a firmware glitch in 3.15, since these worked initially before I updated. Though I'm fine with just clicking the buttons. I was pleasantly surprised that the firmware update included new effects/amps.
