As another reviewer stated, the directions for assembly are incorrect. It came assembled incorrectly and directions indicate it to be that way. I'm guessing that the home was stamped incorrectly.Either way, you need to install the holders in the holes opposite of what is indicated in the instructions, otherwise the stones will be backwards. It does work great to clean up a slightly worn/ glazed bore.

Easy to use

Very easy to use correctly. I achieved perfect results. This is actually the third one I have owned. They do wear out after finishing a couple hundred blocks. Still well worth the money compared to the cost and mileage you get out of other brands of bar hones!

I purchased the hone due to the excellent reviews it received. They were right. I just finished a Cummins 3.9 non sleeved engine. I took it .02 over using the more aggressive stone and finishing with the least aggressive. Both sets of stones were included. I used a mix of kerosene and oil to lube. I used a big, low rpm drill. It will make your arms feel like playdough, so be prepared to spend around 45 mn per hole. Happy as can be.

I use an old Ammco hone it is a very good tool. This new hone is of a different design. Once I got the hang of it, it works fine. No way it would work as assembled and confusing because the "O" is stamped in the wrong place. I guess I will mark up the directions ! Once I got the racks in the correct way and stones/wipers on there it worked out. Using a 1/2 hp drill plugged into a vari-ac and set for 400 rpm in a 3 inch bore...use the vari-ac to control speed not the drill trigger...

I would give it 5 stars, but it is a little time consuming changing stones from size to size. Kinda nit picking, I know. Price is much better than the last brand I've been using for 40+ years, especially replacement stones. They have discontinued their line, so I was forced to change brands. Should pay for itself within a year.

This rigid hone trued-up +/- 1.5 thousandths out of round and tapered cylinders with little effort for new piston ring installation. Very satisfied with performance. The included 80 grit stone eats through material fast and the micrometer adjustment (with included 120 grit stone) allows you to get really close to final finish. Finished-up with a ball hone for a really nice bore. The stone racks where in backwards so study the included directions. Simple to place racks in correct position.

Used to bore an engine .010 oversized and did not have to take my engine to town to be bored. Very happy! works great! Read directions and watch YouTube videos for best results. Takes man killer of a drill (120 volt break your rist drill) to run it if your going to bore oversize.

WOW! That pretty much sums up the words needed to describe this tool. I bought this to hone out the cylinders in a Ford Ranger 3.0 I recently got. The previous owner ran it hot. Super hot. Three pistons were melted and the cylinders had minor scoring. I was able to use this tool to take out .003 of material with ease. Also making the cylinders true in the process. Only complaint would be that the stones seem to wear out fast but I took out a good bit of material from 3 cylinders and still have enough meat to do another engine most probably. I would recommend this tool for anyone that does any engine work. It's easy to set up and use and way cheaper than sending the block in to the machine shop.

Worst online experience ever

To start with I asked what was included with the item because the item description was non existant, I was trying to compare it to other vendors that had very good descriptions as to what was included with the hone. I was told by Julie at JB tool "All of the information we know about the item is stated on the item page. If you don't see the information there, you would need to contact the manufacture for the information needed." In my opinion that is very poor customer service! It's the venders responsibility to know/verify details about the items they sell! In most cases the general public doesn't have access to the manufacturer. It's the venders responsibility to know/verify details about the items they sell! In most cases the general public doesn't have access to the manufacturer. So after finding out that the next competitively priced vendor was or of stock, I decided to order the hone, an extra set of stones and a larger set of stone racks for bigger cylinders. I placed the order 10/15/20, I received part of the order 10/21/20 they had shipped me 2 extra sets of stones (I only ordered 1 extra set) and the larger stone rack, they didn't ship the Hone itself. I notified them via email 10/21/20 including pictures of the items and packaging of items I received. Sue got back to me at end of day 10/22/20 wanting to know if I wanted the Hone shipped or a refund issued. I told her to ship the Hone ASAP as I had 3 engines waiting on it and client that were getting anxious. I didn't hear anything until it was finally shipped 10/27/20 I finally received the Hone 11/01/20, 17 days after placing the order. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. will never just from again!
