This to me is a toddler must have! I’ve yet to come across a toddler that doesn’t love it. That said, I subtracted a star because assembly was, in a word, nightmarish. My husband I had made the mistake of putting this together on Christmas Eve one year. We (foolishly) hadn’t anticipated any issues, since we are super adept at that kind of thing. This thing had us up all night sniping at each other. Several times throughout the process one of us tried to quit. Luckily never at the same time or it never would’ve been completed! But, after all that our son LoVeD it. So, ultimately it was worth it.

The delivery and purchas were easy. The product assembly, even for a seasoned vet like me, was absolutely ridiculous and convoluted. I am not at all happy with the way the wheels swivel but don't correct themselves easily and my sons legs are constantly banging I to them causing bruises. The steering wheel DOES NOT TURN THE WHEELS.. you go through this insane process of building this thing from scratch but the wheels don't turn with the steering wheel. If my son didnt love it so much despite these terrible things I would return it immediately. It's just awful and I am never more than a few feet away to correct the wheels for him.

I just bought two of these for my twin grandsons. After following the video instructions we were so frustrated to learn the rear axle bar was too short! So we had to put it together without the bushings! The printed instructions are horrible too and difficult to read. The lady in the video makes it look so easy to snap the roof together, but it actually requires tons of twisting and brut force to get it together. Now I know why these things came pre assembled when I bought them for my kids 25 years ago!

Purchased from Target with next day delivery. I was very impressed by this. Now the car is built, i am happy but the instructors and the build process was horrific. I have skin off every knuckle. The instructions read so simply "click together" when infact the parts do not just click together. Alot of brute force and violence got this build. The front wheels dont stay locked in place once built . The 2 year old loves it but man, that is 4 hours of my life i will never get back
Bought this car for Grandson’s birthday but daughter built it while I helped and watched. PRODUCT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO BUILD DESPITE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY! No screw holes are pre-drilled so without a power screwdriver, a hammer (and eventuallya very strong man) it would be impossible and will still take several hours. The instructions were followed exactly but was on the point of returning the half built structure as it requires SO MUCH STRENGTH. My daughter persevered and grandson loves it but I’m so glad he wasn’t around during construction!!!!
Arrived earlier than expected. Good little car for toddlers. BUT. Instruction manual is horrible. It needs a full inventory of parts at the very first, not broken into sections. Oh, and I don't care to access the video instructions as that's just more work. As soon as I started putting it together, I had a problem. It was missing ONE small piece, the red plastic cap that goes on the horn. Can't have a car without that. Don't know if it's missing more pieces b/c I'd have to go through every section separately and what does it matter at this point? Chatted with Walmart online only to find out that they are unable to just send me the missing piece. Really? Wow. So my choices were 1) keep as is and they'd discount me $5 OR 2) return it for refund. Ugh. I'm not going to ... MoreArrived earlier than expected. Good little car for toddlers. BUT. I'm not going to take the chance that there aren't more missing pieces AND not have a little red horn on this car for a lousy $5 credit. So I managed to get this entire car back into its box, which is no easy feat once you've taken it out. I've taped it up and getting it ready to go back. I'll be ordering the same off of Amazon and crossing my fingers for better luck. Hope the quality control people are paying attention and checking those pieces.
My son is turning one and I was super excited to buy him a cozy coupe. It’s a must-have- maybe it’s the nostalgia, but I love it. So I bought the classic coupe, although I was split between that the anniversary coupe. The cute eyes got me. But I wish I would have taken a moment and inspected it further as to the design. The classic coupe wheels are horrendous. We assembled them correctly, yet the pieces don’t stay in place. The coupe acts like it has spinners. The horn on the steering wheel won’t stay on and falls off with my son playing within the coupe. The packaging came perfectly but there are scratches on the base. My husband also missed the step of putting screws in to hold the eyes in place and had already put the stickers on, so the eyes flip in and out as ... MoreMy son is turning one and I was super excited to buy him a cozy coupe. The assembly was a headache and a half with unclear instructions. The coupe is nothing like I remember when I had mine… disappointed to say the least.
My son loved playing with this car in different play centres, so bought it. First, it was not easy to put together we spent hours and got the help of a friend who said the wheel would need to be forced with a hammer, he was afraid of breaking the plastic. The shop put it together for us in end but the front wheels are problematic, making my son frustrated. Children love this little tikes car but it is so poorly made, which is such a shame. It would be so easy to have the horn beeping and a few extra sound features and some simple keys to make it an award winning product and not something from the 80's. We also bought the petrol pump and my son just loves this, but even with this it doesnt fit properly with the car. Maybe it just lacks testing and we got a product from one of the bad batches. The staff at the shop were very helpful, putting it together for us and this we appreciated alot as it was not possible without them.
Our son absolutely loves this little car but the hardship my husband went through to put this together on Christmas eve! It looks like it should be simple to assemble but the design is archaic and obviously has not changed in 30 years. My husband is extremely handy and fought with it for over an hour. You need a hammer and a drill, the holes are not predrilled to attach the pillars to the roof of the car and if they are not drilled the back pillars keep falling off. Pre warning- make sure you give yourself enough time to assemble because it could take hours especially if you’re not familiar with using drills and hammers!
Mainly leaving a review to counter all the 'we couldn't build it' reviews. Bought in store from Durham and took me just over an hour no problem: READ the instructions PROPERLY, have a good drill/driver (you will not get screws through the plastic by hand, no way) and do have a second person where the instructions tell you. If pressure isn't applied down on the roof by a helper when you insert the screws that hold it in, the door wont be secure. We have the floor in for our 18mth and he loves being pushed around in it.Also its nice that the eyes and mouth are optional - I left them off so it looks more like my childhood version! It can tip if your child is over-enthusiastic when getting out, so we will be holding the roof as he gets in and out until he wants the ... MoreMainly leaving a review to counter all the 'we couldn't build it' reviews.
