My son received this on his birthday last month. The first time we took it out of demo mode the drum spun a few times, then got stuck. It kind of shakes, but no longer spins. My two-year-old was so disappointed. My parents bought this the day he fell in love with it at his cousin's house, so we are past the return window and can't even exchange it for another washer. Looking at other reviews though, this is a common defect with the product. DON'T BUY THIS FOR ANYONE YOU LOVE.

My grand daughter loves to help with laundry so this was a fun purchase for her birthday. We bought 2 units because she knows the clothes have to go from the washer to the dryer! Three important things to note 1. once you take the washer/dryer out of the packaging, the back of the unit comes off and there you find the shelf and the additional baskets/laundry. This is not noted anywhere and might be easy to miss. 2. There is a switch on the left side of the unit that controls the realistic sounds and the turning of the drum. Be sure to switch it from demo mode to use mode. 3. When replacing the back, it can be pushed back in to the packaging depth or a wider depth. My Son and Daughter are having a whirl of a time, watching the clothes whizzing around in their new First Washer-Dryer. The dryer is battery powered so it makes real noises and lights-up, while spinning just like an actual machine! It’s perfect for little ones who love pretend-play, like mine do! The cute little laundry storage baskets are great for putting the mini clothing items inside and they’ve been enjoying sorting them into colours too - why not start them early! The detergent drawer opens and closes just like a real one too and they have loved pretending to pour the liquid inside.

FYI the background and the rest of the baskets are inside the washer .. also it says on the instructions you have to change the batteries. I change the batteries and now the washer spins and makes other noises. My 2 year old loves it ., They should just put instructions outside so we know how to build it. I though they were missing like some other reviews . But overall I love the washer .
Well this is now definitely Larson’s favourite toy of all time! He thinks the washer dryer is real and throws in his clothes to wash them! Its so realistic as it spins and makes realistic noises. It’s perfect for role play and really sparks his imagination - he even insists on taking it from room to room when he changes where he’s playing and has to have it in his bedroom to sleep! If only doing the real washing was this much fun!
This was a Xmas gift for my granddaughter. She (1 1/2 yrs) and her older brother (3 yrs) LOVED it... for about an hour. As with most of the other negative reviews... the drum quit spinning after less than an hour of play. Purchased it at Target which no longer issues replacements for defective merchandise, so I also lost the sales price and will have to pay full price if I want to replace it! I gave Little Tykes customer service a chance to rectify it, before I returned it, but they were of no help - suggesting I just return it to the store. I have always loved LT products for their strength and reliability... this one disappoints.
Not obvious. The extra baskets and tile are in the back of the toy. You have to undo the back to assemble. My biggest dislike is that the bottle top is painted. My kid chewed the top already and paint flaked off. Also for everyone, the middle setting is OFF. First setting is try me. Third is play. Toy is not broken the settings just aren't obvious.
My kids (6 & 1) loved it when we first put it together. The different wash cycle sounds and spinning were really cool. After only two weeks of light use, it has stopped working. It still makes beeping noises, but it doesn't spin or change cycles anymore. The spinning was the coolest part, so they are pretty bummed. I would not recommend this product. Many other reviews mention this same problem.
It seems that everyone is having the same problem with the drum spinning. We purchased this toy for Christmas and my daughter absolutely loved it ! About 2 weeks ago it stop spinning, it still makes the spinning noise but no spin. I made sure it was on the “on” mode but still not working. Every time I turn the knob it makes an excessive beeping nose ? Is that a low battery beep ?
Got my toddler this for Christmas, it was his favorite toy. It stopped spinning the second day, so he barely plays with it anymore. He still pretends to fold the laundry, but when he tries to wash them he just says it’s broke. So disappointed, already tossed the box so I can’t return it and based on other reviews looks like little tiles won’t stand behind the product.
