This month Lively made a system change that caused my 96 year old mother's Lively Flip Phone to stop working. Lively replaced that phone with a "new and improved" Lively 2 flip phone which is completely unsatisfactory for her. The new menu is no longer simple, nor large enough text for her use. It requires far better vision than she currently has, and too many button clicks for any action to be considered simple. Alexa is no help for her. I see other from feedback that my mother's situation is not unique. The Lively 2 flip phone may now be great for young people, but is useless for many seniors. This "upgrade" is an epic FAILURE.

3 Stars - an average phone. Sound quality and volume is good, menu system is clumsy with way too many buttons to push to get anything done. It needs a “Delete All” menu item for voice-mails and especially for texts. Text messages display in a “window”, which makes them narrower than the screen. When you access a text the text menu stays on the screen and covers half of it so scrolling is mandatory to read even very short messages.Battery life is okay, I never use the camera so no opinion on it. So far I'm happy with Lively's service. This phone is not great, but it gets the job done. If you don’t want to deal with a “smart” phone you don’t have many options. I wish they could have upgraded my old “LG Env3" phone to 4G. That was an outstanding phone.

Switched my 80+ year old dad to the Jitterbug Flip2. Overall, it was a good swap - from an ATT Flip phone that they were charging him $42 a month for when he doesn't use data or text. The plan for this phone is $19.99 a month - so should be better overall.Lots of features in this phone - and since my dad is visually impaired, I like the Amazon Alexa feature. It could be better though, as you can't make phone calls with Alexa directly, you need to enable the Lively skill first and then ask Alexa to ask Lively to call someone.Sometime in the future, companies will figure it out and make calling easier for the visually impaired - but at least this is a step in the right direction. We did not take advantage of the Health and Safety plans - as that costs more. I bought this phone based on advertisment and claims it had Alexia enabled voice command capability. I was looking for voice enabled phone in hopes it would be user friendly enough for my 85 year old mother to dial by voice. Specifically, I was hoping the so-called Alexia voice functionality would allow her to simply use voice prompts for calling. After purchasing and setting up, it turns out it is really not "Alexia" but a Lively watered down add-on to Alexia that has very limited capability and in no way resembles Alexia functionality or capability. Moreover, the user must say " Alexia followed by Lively" in a very clear voice, or it does nothing. Even when properly annunciating "Alexia Lively" and requesting to call " person on contact list", it fails to call 30% ... Moreover, the user must say " Alexia followed by Lively" in a very clear voice, or it does nothing. Even when properly annunciating "Alexia Lively" and requesting to call " person on contact list", it fails to call 30% of the time and just hangs. The contact list can be updated online, but it you select favorites or emergency contacts, Alexia Lively thinks there is multiple duplicates and gets confused. This is by far the most clunky application I have ever seen or worked with for Alexia enabled device. Needless to say, my Mother was much more frustrated with this "senior" targeted phone than navigating her old standard flip phone. Do NOT purchase if thinking about using the so-called Alexia voice enabled features. It's not Alexia enabled, rather a very poor and clunky Alexia Add-on. The Big red button is a 911 call just waiting to accidentally happen for many seniors hitting it in error. It should have a delay or way to verify if button was pushed in error, before calling 911. The only way to enable the big red button to call customer service / Lively operator is adding additional services that are very expensive and more than the cost of monthly service for cell and text costs per month.
My stepdad was struggling with smartphone I got him (his flip phone would no longer work with 4G) where he had to swipe. This Jitterbug is perfect. Answers the phone just by opening. Simple list with phone, contacts, voicemail (I created message for him) and date and time showing when closed. Nice charging station and Best Buy sent me a free car charger in the mail. There is also a great feature by pressing “0” to get a personal operator who can get you a Lyft ride. They ask where you are, where you are going and let you know if a driver is available and the estimated cost. You can accept or reject the ride. Call is $1 and charged to your bill with the cost of the ride. This will definitely be used for doctor appointments when we can’t give him or my mom a ride. He ... Jitterbug must have taken the specs from an old flip phone and removed some code without thinking about seniors will be using it. They should have their developer spend a day with different types of seniors. Some with Dementia, some with eyesight trouble, Some with limited hearing.1) My 91 year old friend forgets to press the speaker button when answering. 1) Please add a phone setting for speaker default on/off.Have a bright light with a setting to blink for an incoming call. Have an LED on front and back so the user does not have to remember to have it face up.3) There needs to be functionality to see what the Speed Dial buttons are set to. Now I have to add a new contact to the Speed Dial to see what they were. 4) have a screen that can be defaulted to see the ... Love this phone. Easy to use without having to look up the directions on how to use it. I had a N** flip phone that required umpteen hoops to jump through just to text and make calls. I had trouble remembering them all, and it was too much hassle just to make a call or text. Even deleting stuff was a pain. It did more things than this one, but was more complicated to use and did stuff I wasn't interested in. This phone is user friendly the first time you pick it up. Just what I wanted. And if you get it from Walmart, it is unlocked, so you can use it with whoever your carrier is, and keep your number, by just switching the sim card with your old phone. I'm sure that Lively is a good phone company, but I already had service and a phone number with Patriot Mobile. But ... MoreLove this phone. I'm sure that Lively is a good phone company, but I already had service and a phone number with Patriot Mobile. But if this is your first cell phone, it looks to be easy to start service with Lively, too, as their sim card is already in it. It also was delivered in a timely manor. And you don't have to be a "Senior" to buy and use this phone. It look like any other flip phone. It doesn't say "Jitterbug" on it. Most people don't even know what a "Jitterbug" is, so unless you tell them, no one will even know that you are using a "Senior" phone. I would recommend this flip phone to anybody who prefers a flip phone, and if you are thinking of getting this for a friend or relative for Christmas or Birthday, who doesn't have a cell phone, I bet they will like it too.
We bought this phone for our parents who had to replace their Kyocera flip phone because of the change from 3G to 5G service. It's an awful phone to use and not intuitive. There other phone had buttons that were clearly marked and you didn't have to press 6 different buttons to get to a feature. In addition the plan price is not the price you end up paying. There were probably another $10 in "service fees" added to the bill. On top of that there was no way to access voicemail from another phone which I've always been able to do with every other phone carrier. I was given 3 different numbers and none of them worked. It kept saying the phone number was invalid. It's needed as my parents never figured out how to access voicemail. On top of that the phone died after ... Run away from this phone and Lively phone service. There are less expensive services you can use.We ended up canceling the service and used NumberBarn to port the number so that it was forwarded to us for the few people who still used that number to contact our parents. It's a shame that there aren't easy to use, basic flip phones around anymore.
This small flip-phone works well for my use. I rarely talk on it. I use it to text “call me” to friends or family and they call me on my home phone when they have time to talk. I had an I-phone but did not like returned it. This is cheaper to replace if damaged, small enough to carry with me in the yard so I always can get help if I fall. If you drop it they call and ask if you need help. When you press the star someone answers immediately and asks what you need. You can ask them for any kind of help you need, police, ambulance, to call someone, or just ask what you should do. They have stayed on the line while I went in my back yard after dark to turn the lawn sprinkler off, because I live alone.I just got this one. The battery was damaged on my previous one (5 ... The battery was damaged on my previous one (5 years use). I had a problem with the previous one that concerned me. Occasionally I would get an “out of range” message when I sent a text. I was in my home when that happened, if I went to another area of town it would work. It could be the battery was the problem. If it happens with this newer model I will look for something else. Photos are very small so I do not use them.
We purchased this phone for my 96-yr old mother who has very low vision and is hard of hearing. She's not tech savvy and is very forgetful. This phone isn't intuitive at all and it has software glitches Lively knows about but hasn't expressed an interest in fixing. Half the time the Alexa/Lively interface kicks Mom out to her phone screen after she's correctly completed the 3 different responses needed to get the phone to dial a contact number. Sometimes turning it off and on again helps but usually she just has to wait a bit then keep trying, sometimes for over a day. The 1st customer service rep suggested setting up Speed dialing for her frequently called numbers but that isn't helpful since she can't see well enough. The 1st customer service rep suggested setting up Speed dialing for her frequently called numbers but that isn't helpful since she can't see well enough. We finally reached a rep that said a lot of seniors have called in about the same problem. He offered to send her the original Jitterbug Flip like the one she had and loved. He even said if we call when it arrives they will activate it and then transfer her contacts for her. Also the battery can be taken out and additional memory can be added under the battery. Re: other issues with the Flip2, the volume isn't as loud as it should be even when set at maximum. This is a worse problem when using the speaker phone. The rubbery buttons aren't defined enough to use by feel. And if my mother grips the phone very hard, random buttons are sometimes pushed causing actions by the phone..
