Compared to the liiquid versions of thread locker, I find this to be much better solution. Why? 1. Liquid thread locker is messy. Being a iquid as opposed to a paste (semi-solid) can easily go all over your fingers and sometimes parts of the fastener/ bolt you don't want covered forcing you to clean it off. The paste easily applies to just were you want drip free. 2. For the price I think it is a better deal too. The paste being in a semi-solid state just doesn't start pouring out like the liquid does when you squeeze its bottle-tube. Sometimes using way more than you need. In closing, this is just my humble subjective opinion. I claim to be no thread locker expert. In short, I just found the paste much more easily to apply and last longer. Making it a better value.

Good for keeping screws in and nuts on bolts. Put it on the threads of the screw and wait the full 24 hours to be sure it's set. This stick version is really nice, lets you just roll a screw on the top instead of dealing with a liquid. Been using their stuff for many years. Make sure you get the right strength for the size of your screws. - Low strength - purple/loctite 222 (liquid) is for up to 1/4" screws Med strength - blue/loctite 243 (liquid) & 248 (stick) is for 1/4" to 3/4" screws High strength - red/loctite 263 (liquid) is for up to 1" screws Purple you can take the screw back out with just a hand tool. Blue you may need some sort of leverage. Red you'll want to heat up a little bit before trying to remove the screw. Stay within the manufacturer's suggested strength for your screw size to avoid risking stripping/damage. I've stripped a few screws in the past thinking that it would be fine, but the screws were softer than I expected. Not worth the risk/headache.

I had one of these as a free sample from a trade journal mailing list. Couldn't use it at work because it didn't have the right pedigree and certification papers so I took it home. Well now it's about 10 years later and I am buying another. Much easier to use than the liquid and less of it spills so it lasts about as long as a medium sized bottle. It's worth the extra money versus the liquid, don't worry about the weight differential. Just roll the screw around on the end of the stick and you're done. 'Blue' is nice compromise between keeping bolts tight and getting then off later. I use it for nearly everything on my Jeep to keep them from rattling loose on the trail. 'Red' is very strong and you will ruin small bolts, larger bolts 3/8 and up will require heat to ... MoreI had one of these as a free sample from a trade journal mailing list. I use it for nearly everything on my Jeep to keep them from rattling loose on the trail. 'Red' is very strong and you will ruin small bolts, larger bolts 3/8 and up will require heat to loosen, blue - no heat and no ruined bolts. Stick with the Locktite brand, I tried a few other brands (of liquid) but they didn't seem to work quite as well.
I noticed after using it and coming back to it again the next day or few days later it tends to dry the top layer out. This ends up getting scraped off and thrown out. Kind of like throwing out half the stick over time. I think I'll go back to the liquid loctite versus this stuff. However it is very easy to use, stays on the threads where you put it, and doesn't have any nasty odors.
If you are tired of your liquid loctite running down the bolt before you can thread it in or picking it up to find a blue spot underneath where it all leaked out, look no further. This is like loctite chapstick. Take the lid off and run the bolt across it and you are done. No more mess or drips. Works great.
This is just what i was looking for. I had been using the regular locktite in the squeeze bottle, and it worked for my purposes, locktite is a great product. However, i saw this while watching a pocket knife maintenance video on you tube and thought, I Need This. Anyone who has ever used a pocket knife on a daily basis knows, screws just come loose, especially during a break in period, as did mine on the clip. I cant tell you what a great addition this is to knife maintenance kit. I dont have to worry about blue goop running everywhere, i just simply dip the screw in the stick and then put the screw back in where it was was and problem is solved. This product seems to hold the screws in just as good if not better than the goop in the tube. I love it, and would ... MoreThis is just what i was looking for. This is the way to go for threadlocker. Ive used liquid for years and years, but finally got tired of making a mess and bought the paste. Wish I had done that simple swap years ago. Gone are the days of blue and red fingers, leaks all over my work bench and toolbox drawers, and ziplock bags full of half used tubes that are colored like a melted bag of M&Ms. Goes onto bolts by quickly spinning them across the top chapstick style tube. If I need it on the inside of a nut, I just scrape a little with my pocket screwdriver or tip of my knife and slap it in. Yes, thats not as convenient as dropping it on, but its cleaner in the end.
This stick is awesome and definitely a must have for those who need to secure their fasteners. Anyone who's worked with Loctite or any other kind of threadlocker for more than 3 seconds knows how much of a pain the liquid is and how it gets on everything involved in the fastening process. The stick is just like the glue stick from your childhood. Just rub a bit of Loctite into the threads of your fastener and, Presto!, you have secured fasteners with little to no mess.
This threadlock stick is one of my favorite "tools" in the toolbox. The squeeze bottle of threadlocker is messy and hard to use. The stick is easy and convenient. Just swipe the threads of a bolt before you install it -- the stick threadlock stays in place and doesn't harden until the bolt is installed. I find that liquid threadlocker crumbles when you remove it and has to be completely replaced each time you touch the bolt. The stick threadlock stays in place and is still partly effective after breaking the lock. For non-critical locations, or small bolts that only need a little protection, you can often reinstall the bolt without reapplying the threadlocker and still get some protection. Threadlocker in general also provides good protection against corrosion.
