I have used Loctite 290 for many years and it is everything that it is advertised to be. I have used it in sealing porosities in cast iron and for sealing brass plugs in car cylinder heads. A special use has been to lock laser optics assemblies after alignment and focussing.

This Loctite product is ideal for miniature engineering applications, particularly for securing screws in blind holes. Since it is a penetrating fluid it means parts can be assembled and then the fluid applied. It may need heat to dismantle any assembly. An excellent product does what it says,

Used the product to secure the adpter base plate to a Glock for installation of a red-dot sight.
I like being able to adjust the mating part to the way I want them assembled then fix them in place with Loctite 290. The material is very thin so it can wick up into the assembled engaging threads. Once it dries they will stay put until heated to 300F. What could be better?
Brilliant stuff, but beware this is for semi permanent fixings. Use the blue for general Use.
This is the best stuff. Mamy fakes on ebay so best to buy from a reputable dealer.
The 290 product is "wicking" which means that it will creep into the open spaces of your joint and will pretty much make it water-tight. It works exceedingly well in areas with exposure to oil, so there will be no unexpected loosening.
High strength lock thread, make sure everything is clean before using.. very well, specially on parts that has mass vibrations
Bought this product as info said it was a Loctite 290 equivalent and was much cheaper. Disappointingly, it is much thinner and more runny than the Loctite product. Probably won't buy it again.
