I ordered this from Amazon. Arrived the next day! It served its purpose wonderfully. A doozy to clean but once it’s cleaned, I wipe it down and pour a little oil in it then pop it in the oven on 350. Looks like new when I take it out. Aside from the hassle of cleaning because food sticks to it, it’s amazing. I cooked the perfect lamb lollipops for Thanksgiving in it. About 4.5 minutes in each side and they came out so juicy and tender. I absolutely love my cast iron skillet. I paid $15 on Amazon for it. Should last for years with proper care. Withstands high heat too. And you can pop it in the oven to cook.

This is great, exactly what you should expect if you're done your research into modern cast iron pans. It's massive and although that means it's very heavy the weight is not a killer issue for me. That's just one of the things you need to expect when dealing with cast iron. Where I think this excels is where it is supposed to: cooking. I initially took a sander to it, to get rid of some of the rough edges. This isn't really required (or recommended by the manufacturer) but some people choose to do this. After re-seasoning I've ended up with a lovely smooth surface and the cooking is certainly good enough for me to consider it "non stick" and as good as any teflon I've had in the past. I think the key test is always frying eggs. If you season the pan properly, get it ... MoreThis is great, exactly what you should expect if you're done your research into modern cast iron pans. If you season the pan properly, get it to the right heat and apply just a light rub of oil then the eggs come off just like they would off a brand new teflon pan. Same with pancakes, omelettes ... everything I've thrown at it so far has been cooked brilliantly. I honestly can't recommend this highly enough, but if you're not in the USA do make sure you get it at a decent price because these are sold dime a dozen in their country of origin and they are definitely not supposed to be priced up there with typically expensive brands.

Was pretty much nonstick straight out of the box! The first cook it needed a fair bit of oil, but the second cook my partner seasoned it lightly with flaxseed oil to smoking point (inside surface only) and then cooked fried eggs which didn’t stick! It’s a big pan and quite heavy, but great if you need to cook several things at once which we usually do. I’ve had the 26cm Lodge cast iron pan for years and love it, so this was a no-brainer to get the same brand in a larger size.

Lodge is simply the best
13 December 2023

This made-in-the-USA, Lodge, 5 inch cast iron skillet is not only the best quality mini skillet, but it doesnt include potentially harmful chemicals found in some foreign-made cast iron. The pan is top quality and perfect for use on a charcuterie board, for making skillet cookies, and for melted cheese appetizers. Crate and Barrel had a great sale, free shipping and quick delivery. This product actually cost leas through C&B than from Lodge's site. Highly recommend.

Love the large size
1 October 2023

Exactly what I needed. Love the large size and the depth of this skillet. Have wanted something this substantial for a long time. Because of the size even if cooking two pork chops or a large steak there is so much less splashing over my stove. This is absolutely the most perfect cast iron skillet . It is very heave though as it should be. However it maybe hard to lift for an older person.

SHAKING MY HEAD %26 😆 LOL
7 August 2023

i guess should have read and realized what a five inch skillet meant for $14. When I opened the package and saw the little itty bitty skillet for $14 I almost fell out of my chair. This skillet must have been made for show. Surely I wouldn't cook in it. It reminded me of when I was a little girl, my neighbor had a little cast iron stove to play with and there was little cast iron cookware with it. But $14? Still shaking my head.

The only skillet you need
22 June 2021

The best cast iron skillet around. The 13.25" is large enough for any cooking. Even I also have 10" and 12" skillets the 13.25" is the one I pulled out for great steak searing. The 13.25" has too much mass that it retains so much heat that will still sizzle the other size of a big thick steak when it is flipped. I seasoned it a couple of times in my kitchen oven and took every opportunity to cook on it. It has become very non-stick. The pros: great heat retention, large cooking surface, non-stick. The cons: very heavy, take patience/time to bring it up to temperature, despite what you were told, cast iron does not distribute heat evenly so you want to move the skillet around the stove to give it a even temperature.

Versatile piece of cookware

I find this pan is of the best size and has most uses on my gas stove in home. I can cook all kinds of meals from breakfast to dinner, from frying eggs to making vegetable stews. Its size extend the use to deep frying and grilling. I use it to grill burger meat, vegetables, asparagus... etc. Its size is good for deep frying mushrooms dipped in batter or frying a good batch of potatoe fries. I even make sandwiches using it, panini, grilled cheese, french toast. Sometimes I pop it into oven and use it as bakeware. Its size is perfect for upside down cakes, deep dish pizza, corn bread or Dutch baby... This pan has good weight to preheat well and bake evenly on stovetop or in oven. I can achieve good results of making pancakes, tortillas or naan just on stovetop with this pan preheated to the temperature to my liking. Oh its use is just endless... Best value one can get out of all kinds of cookware. This site has an extensive set of gadgets one will ever need for his/her home kitchen use ( of course commercial too ). IMO, highly recommended as the first piece of cookware for anyone who wants to become a home chef. Just a reminder : This pan comes well pre-seasoned but requires a bit of tendering after. The easiest way to keep it in best cooking condition is to clean out the debris under a running tap while it's still warm then wiped dry or dried on a hot stovetop after cooking; wip the entire interior clean using a piece of lightly oiled paper towel when the pan is heated up before cooking. That's it and it's quality is guaranteed to last one's lifetime or generations. Best investment I made ever. Last but not least: If one gets tired of indoor cooking, the investment is preserved by taking it to other cooking occasions such as tailgate party, camping or just backyard. Its ruggedness makes it a good piece of cookware regardless of gas, bed of hot coals or just barbecue grills.
