I also found that it would randomly restart itself while in use, in the end it was doing it quite frequently so was very frustrating. Another thing is the base station. When I place the headset on the base station it shows the battery bars as it should and what stage its at charging. However, after a few hours once the Xbox is turned off (when all the power is lost to the base station) all the lights on the base station are flashing/blinking, indicating that its not on the base station properly, even though it was fine when placed on it earlier. The weird thing is, if I turn the Xbox on again, the base station then goes back to normal and shows the headset charging again. I tried this on a different Xbox but still had the exact issues. I then tried them on my computer (which has a constant power source) where I found the base station went absolutely fine, no flashing lights or anything. It just showed the charging bars as it should constantly. It makes me think that it has some sort of power issue as to why the base station lights all flash after the xbox has been turned off for a while. Like when it loses all power to the base station. I returned my first pair and got a replacement (As I couldn't get refunded) They are about 2 weeks old now. They seem to be better than the last pair but still have the base station charging issue, and the buzzing noise has just started in the left air cup again. I tried many troubleshooting steps but nothing has worked, I even contacted Astro but they weren't helpful. After doing a bit of research on them, it seems that the problems I have are pretty common in the latest generation headsets as others have them too.

After not getting any shipping updates I called back and was told I needed to ship the product back including the base station and wires to get my replacement. That wasn’t what the initial rep had told me to do, he said to hold onto them until I get the replacement. After shipping and waiting for the return process, I spoke with another rep in which she told me to hold onto the headset until I get the replacement. Informed her about the other rep saying to return it first, and then she back tracked and said never mind and that I needed to return first. It took 2 weeks for the replacement to get back to me and when it did, they only shipped the headset.. They apologized and expedited the request for the missing equipment which would take 5 DAYS to get to me. All shipping providers offer overnight shipping but apparently to Logitech “Expedited” means a standard shipping. So much miscommunication on their end and now I have to wait another week for the base station and wires to be shipped to me. Logitech destroyed the quality of these and charge even more for them than they used to. They’re using the reputation Astros have built for pure greed, DO NOT GET THESE. You can get far superior for half the price and it’ll save you having to deal with Logitech’s sub-par support. Very disappointed after only using this headset for 7 years now.

This headset checks every box I required for a gaming headset. Wireless, base station charging, and ease of use with the program on Windows.I'm coming from a pair of wired AKG headphones that was plugged into an amplifier, so for me the sound quality of these is not as good as it was with the AKGs. But it is more than good enough for gaming and music, with the main added benefit being the convenience of wireless. The base station works flawlessly, and it never fails to charge. Easy enough to plug into the computer and Windows recognizes the headset right away. Easy enough to plug into the computer and Windows recognizes the headset right away. Installing the Astro Command Center was a breeze and the options and features are more than enough for what the headset can do.The reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because of the most egregious design flaw of any product I've owned: The headband. After 6 months of use, the small foam cushion inbetween the two plastic headbands refuses to stay in. It is only held in with two small plastic notches, and no matter how I adjust the headset, it constantly pops out all on its own and causes the plastic headband to dig into my skull until I take my hands off of everything and fix it. And as soon as I take my hands off the headband it pops right off again. You could say "simple solution, just glue it in place". However, if I ever planned to sell this headset, that piece would not be removable anymore and would degrade the resell value. Not to mention this headset cost $400 when it came out. I bought it on a promotion from Best Buy for $300. It frequently goes on sale for $150 if you know where to look.I don't feel that I should have to glue things in place on a headset that MSRP'd for $400 when brand new. I'm past the return window and Logitech wants 6 weeks to sent me a refurbished replacement, so no thanks. I wouldn't even pay $150 now knowing how bad this design flaw is. I'll either sell them for cheap and invest in something else or go back to my AKG headphones.Great overall and awesome when I'm not being impaled by sharp plastic. Unfortunately it happens more often than not.

I bought the Astro A50 headset for my Xbox Series X on a Friday and took it back by Sunday afternoon for a refund. The sound quality is definitely superb, but you'll have to download the Dolby app from the Xbox store in order to sync your set and get the audio to come through. (I paid for the Dolby Atmos access before realizing that it's apparently supposed to be free(?) if you have a Dolby Atmos device, so that's my fault. Don't make my mistake. I believe Dolby Atmos access is free if you buy the A50 headset.)I wanted to buy a top-of-the-line headset for gaming. This was going to be my headset for the next several years, so I justified the $250 price tag. I didn't even take it out of the box until Saturday night for gaming. That's when I found out that the charging base for the headset is ALSO THE SOUND TRANSMITTER, which is a terrible design! If the charging base isn't plugged directly into the Xbox while you are wearing the headset, you cannot get any audio or game chat to come through and the headset shuts off. My Xbox is mounted 6ft. up on my living room wall. I actually considered installing a shelf high up for the base to sit on. I couldn't just leave the charging base dangling from my console by the cord, so I stacked a box on a chair next to the console for my headset base to sit on, just I could talk with my friends during game play that night. (I know it's not glamorous, but I needed a quick solution to the problem.)The foam padding on the headband pops out of the headset almost immediately. Within 10 minutes of wearing them, the padding came out and the plastic head frame was just sitting on top of my head. No mater how many times, I popped the foam back in place, it immediately came out in seconds. I shave my head, so let me tell you that without the foam padding, this headset is PAINFUL to wear. This really frustrated me because when I first put them on, this was (up to that point) the most comfortable gaming headset I've ever worn. But for $250, poor design and manufacturing quality are unacceptable to me as a consumer. Other reviews have referenced the same problems with the foam and I wish I had done a bit more research before buying the A50 headset. I was so let down by this purchase and I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND this headset, unless you plan on buying the $40 foam pad upgrade kit directly from the manufacturer's website.

Because these are so lightweight, you didn't have to worry about your neck after playing for a couple of hours.Mic: Noise gate (filtering) worked very well and kept out plenty of sounds in the background on my end. The audio out to others was perfect as well.Battery: Never had these die on me. As long as you charge one every 2 sessions or so (about 2 hours a pop), you shouldn't run into any issues with the longevity.Overall: I wouldn't recommend these to my friends. I'd instead recommend a wired one from the same brand, but I just couldn't recommend this to anyone.

[Rewarded Review] Potentially great headset, ruined by design flaw
11 December 2023

I used a gen 1 Astro A50 for close to 10 years, and it was a dependable headset with great sound quality. When it was time to finally update to a newer headset, there was no question it was going to be another A50. It's super easy to set up and use. The battery life seems to be plenty long and I never ran into a situation where I had to take a break and charge, even through full-day music sessions while working from home (though I only used for a few days before returning them - who knows if that holds up over time). The headset was very comfortable when I first put it on, which lasted for about an hour, until the pad on the headstrap suddenly snapped out of place in the middle of a game. It doesn't look like anything is broken - this piece is meant to come out by ... MoreI used a gen 1 Astro A50 for close to 10 years, and it was a dependable headset with great sound quality. It doesn't look like anything is broken - this piece is meant to come out by design, so you can buy Astro's $40 mod kit! However, this piece is impossible to hold back in place. You think you have the clips in where they need to be, go to put it on your head, just for it to fall out again. I finally gave up with it and used the headset without the pad, but within 10 minutes it becomes uncomfortable. I check online to see if I'm just missing something but there's so many people with the same problem that I feel stupid for not being aware of it before I purchased it. The only "fix" available is to glue/tape it, buy a mod kit, or fight with Astro support to get a replacement (hopefully it doesn't have the same problem).I would expect design issues like this from a cheap headset, but for $300? You're better off with a Corsair or Steelseries.Really disappointed to see that Astros aren't what they used to be.

[Rewarded Review] Worse than older Gen 2 A50. Skip these.
19 September 2024

I had an Astro A50 Gen 2 before this and this headset is worse in every way other than battery life. Sound is fine.Microphone is a big downgrade. The headset range is much worse. The headband is terrible just google "astro a50 h" and auto complete will do the rest. The dock is WHY? You have to remove any fit adjustment to the headset for the dock to actually charge and then readjust the headset every time to put them back on. I get the marketing, but Is that any time-saving over just plugging it in? The ear-cups don't tilt inwards as much, so instead of evenly applying pressure to your head it's concentrated below your ears and on the headband that will fall off unless you superglue or cable-tie it. Update the firmware if you dare, as it often results in a bricked ... MoreI had an Astro A50 Gen 2 before this and this headset is worse in every way other than battery life. But most of those cost cuts could've happened elsewhere because the design and software support failures seem like a ship it & forget it approach on behalf of Logitech.
