Logitech K480 Bluetooth Multi-Device Keyboard - Black

The keyboard is a little heavy. So I wouldn’t recommend it as a portable kb, but definitely useful as a desktop kb for multi device. Switching across devices is simple and quick once you’ve paired them and kept your bluetooth turned on. The iPad sits well as seen in the picture. And of course witht the iPhone as well. My iPhone has a thicker Spigen cover though, so I can feel that it doesn’t go all the way into the stand, but it is still able to stay upright because the stand is a silicon/rubberish material to prevent it from slipping. Highly recommend this for WFH arrangements.

Performance:works well!plus points- i like that it has a stand built in- easily switch between different devices- ease of bluetooth connectiondownside- surprisingly quite heavy. maybe i wasnt expecting it. as my previous keyboard with anker was a lightweight one. hence less convenient to carry around, although possible still. but it makes sense the weight needed to hold tablet upright.

I found this little thing at a warehouse store at half price on a closeout deal about 7 years ago. Had never heard of such a thing but had heard of Logitech and used their products, so it was a no-brainer purchase. Am I ever glad I did. Greatly added ease of use on my tablet. I originally liked the idea that I could use it on my phone as well, but have found that it pretty much stays with the tablet. I use it and the tablet now more than I use the desktop. The poor desktop feels abandoned. This little keyboard is my laptop, my main device, my remote control for the TV (Streaming videos via Chromecast) and a lot more. I'm very surprised for the amount of daily use it gets that it has lasted this long. Battery life seems to be very long as well. Simple setup - just remember to keep holding down the 'Connect' key until it flashes continuously! The keyboard is fine for what I need it for: basically, typing longer emails or documents on an Android tablet and/or phone when travelling, so no more lugging around a laptop (pulling laptops out at airport security gets boring, fast). Many US reviewer's mention pulling off the black setup strip above the keyboard leaves a sticky residue, so I just left it on, cutting off the flap (it's still useful, as there is no manual included in the box nor is there much online). Flaws: the device groove stand (above the keyboard) is too shallow for the Android tablet I use (Nokia T21) and it flops out of the groove (no issue with the phone, of course) - believe the tablet weight ... MoreSimple setup - just remember to keep holding down the 'Connect' key until it flashes continuously! This keyboard is designed to be used with any tablet or phone, including a Windows tablet, a Chrome tablet, an Android tablet or an Apple iPad. It has a dial which lets you select between three devices that have been paired. My Windows tablet is one and I just turn the dial to two to pair to my Android phone. An eleven inch long tray at the top of the keyboard holds your tablet or phone upright. The keyboard is heavy so that it is stable while holding a large tablet. After pairing, it can take a second or two for the keyboard to wakeup but then it works smoothly. Characters appear on the screen instantly, even at my fastest typing speeds. The keyboard is about the size used on a 14 inch screen laptop which means it is about 95 of the size of the keyboard for an desktop computer and larger than the keyboard for a ten inch or eleven inch laptop. I can type at about 90 of the speed I reach with a good desktop keyboard. The heavy weight means this keyboard is not really very portable. It is best used at home. Leave it on a desk or table. If you are typing a long email, just power on the keyboard, set the dial to the correct number to match your tablet or phone, put it in the holding slot and begin typing. The holding slot is the correct width for a tablet or phone without a case or in a VERY thin case. My phone case fits in the slot but I have to remove the case on my tablet. It had never occured to me to use a phone with a bluetooth keyboard. I was surprised how much easier it is to type a long email using a large keyboard. The only problem is that the fonts on my phone are difficult to read from the two feet of distance that using a keyboard requires. My ten inch screen tablet permits using larger fonts so typing with my tablet and this keyboard is actually easier than with my ten inch screen laptop and ten inch chromebook. In the past I have used a desktop computer for writing long emails. This keyboard makes it easy to use my phone for long emails so my desktop will be getting dusty.

I could continue pointing out problems, but those reading this should get the picture, and those who have used wireless keyboards...especially Bluetooth keyboards...understand what Im referring to.The funny thing about this...in a sad way...is that I had considered the K480 a while back, but dismissed it due to its price. Well, as is said fairly often, You get what you pay for. The Logitech Tablet Keyboard for Android 3 was good, but could only connect to my cell phones tablet. While I really liked the keyboards case doing doubleduty as a tablet stand, that couldnt make up for its inability to connect with nonAndroid devices. Additionally, it had an ongoing ghost stuck key problem, making it relatively useless. Two other keyboards purchased through Amazon one cheap, the other costing as bit more were true multidevice keyboards, but both had markings specific to a single device on the cheap keyboard, or only two device types Windows Android on the more costly keyboard. While the more costly keyboard did connected to the MacBook, its lack of Applespecific markings wasnt its only downfall its disconnectreconnect problem was worse than that of the Logitech keyboard mentioned above.Now...moving to Logitechs K480, this is the first wireless keyboard that Ive had which is TRULY multidevice compatible. To start with, it has Windows, Mac, Android markings, completely taking away any guesswork from the previous keyboards. Second, it connects to all three devicetypes, without fail. In testing it, Ive had it connected to my Windows laptop, both of my Android tablets Samsung Asus, my Samsung phone, and the churchs MacBook Pro ok, with the MacBook, it has disconnectedreconnected, but very rarelybut it always connects initially without fail. In terms of switching devices on the fly, Ive had it simultaneously connected to the MacBook, my cellphone, and one of my tablets honestly, I was trying to remember whether it was the Asus, or Samsung, but I couldnt recall, and switching keyboard control from any one device, to another, is as simple as turning the dial...and it ALWAYS functions correctly. My ONLY complaint is the neon yellowishgreen rubber on the dial, and in the tablet stand. While Id have preferred blue, white, gray, and even black, would have been far more acceptable. I do realize that Logitech used to make a white version, with gray rubber pieces, but it was aimed primarily at Mac users, and has since been discontinued. You can find a few online retailers carrying refurbished units, but, if you want a new unit, youll be hardpressed to find itthus, the only realistic choice is the black with neon yellowishgreen. Ignoring my one complaint, you will NOT find a better multidevice wireless keyboard. True, its not a fullsize keyboard, but, if you have need of such, then you should really be sticking with a wireless keyboard designed for one specific type of device. On the other hand, if you have need of a multidevice wireless keyboard, to be used with different device types, then the Logitech K480 will not only be your best choiceit should be your ONLY choice.
I’ve had this for years. I love it and never go on a trip without it. I mainly use it with my iPad, though I’ve typed an entire college research essay on a Galaxy Tab using this. The keys feel nice, the special iPad-specific functions work brilliantly - I can’t think of a bad thing to say about. I suppose, after having it so long, the plastic case kinda bends and creaks a little if I have my iPad loaded in and then I try to pick up or carry the whole setup by the corner (but this is to be expected). Nevertheless, it still feels perfectly solid. I have zero fear that this will ever break physically or stop working electronically. Kinda makes me mad, actually, as I love new gadgets but I’ll probably never have a reason to buy another portable Bluetooth keyboard. Also, ... MoreI’ve had this for years. Kinda makes me mad, actually, as I love new gadgets but I’ll probably never have a reason to buy another portable Bluetooth keyboard. Also, the battery lasts forever. I’m not sure I’ve ever changed the batteries. I’m pretty conscientious about turning it off when I’m not using it, though. As such, it would be nice if the next model has an easier to access power switch; but I can only imagine this has an automatic power-off function when not used for a few minutes and wakes up when you press a key. Bottom line: Love it.
My absolute favorite feature of this bluetooth keyboard is the dial on the left hand side. Change between my business phone, PC, and personal phone quickly. It's also weighted and handles my 10" Chromebook tablet pc nicely. Improvements: If your phone has a case, the built in holder does not accomodate for a case. Instead have a sturdy plastic device holder that folds flat for storage or portability. Another suggestion is to add to the Logitech model line with a more expensive version that replaces the built in weights with a built in power bank.
