Awesome 4K webcam— recommend OBS Studio over Logi

Hence, finally I decided to try out the 4K model in hopes of understanding better quality options/recommendations/settings, etc.I’ve had this over 2 months now and it still continues to amaze me. P.s. don’t download the Logi or camera setting app for this camera on either Windows or Mac because they fail to utilize or allow you to access the features or alter certain settings. The Logitech apps fail to correct the white balance and will give you a green tint with noise even if you uncheck the auto function for white balance, it fails to. And for some reason, these apps don’t truly access the 4K video streaming/recording and still provide poor to moderate improvements in quality in 1080p and below. To truly make use of the 4K webcam for either streaming/recording/video-conferencing, you will need a software that is capable and I suggest a free and open source program called OBS Studios. I appreciate this program for making things simpler to play around with the camera settings. In Windows you can manually change a few of the settings like white balance, saturation, contrast, brightness, etc and also let you access the 4K quality but probably better to go down a resolution still but I have little no problems at 4K streaming thanks to gigabit internet and graphics card. I still can’t find these setting functions on my Mac though…Anyways, long review over. I would recommend this webcam when it’s on sale or when you’re sick and tired of your other webcam not providing enough lighting so you can be viewable or providing too much noise or exposure to try and compensate. It took sometime to truly try it out and find out what the webcam can actually do and then find those resources. Before finding and reading about OBS Studio, I thought my webcam was faulty or the driver was corrupt or that these webcam truly just suck, but it’s really that Logitech softwares suck and don’t allow you to customize or utilize the 4K webcam features so I can imagine a lot of negative reviews about this webcam is probably due to being limited to the Logitech softwares.

This Logitech Pro webcam has all the best vacations you want for having a video call done with 4K. And it has the right light three technology for whatever sort of lighting condition you have. With this plug and play technology, gone are the days of the software disc's. It has high dynamic range. And I love the cable length over 7 ft. And it's on sale for $160 down from 200. And the privacy shade is a nice touch. This webcam's pretty much all you're going to need to get the job done with crystal clear video calls with these kind of specs. They don't get too much better than this.

Excellent video makes you look like a pro, easily.

It's expensive, but it's well worth it if you regularly present to outside or high-stakes audiences via video call, or just want to look decent in imperfect lighting conditions (and excellent in good ones.)It's a major step up from my C922, which is my backup webcam; comparing image quality from the two of them, it's night and day, and forget about comparing this to the quality of my laptop's built-in webcam. At this point, my colleagues come over to my office to borrow this whenever they've got a high-stakes call coming up.Worth it.

Logitech USB Replacement Webcam
3 March 2023

The Logitech USB external Webcam fits over my laptop screen well. The laptop's built-in cam failed after years of opening & closing it. The cost is much less than replacing the whole laptop. The Webcam goes over the built-in camera on the screen. It also has a nice hinged cover to black-out the camera for security when not-in-use.On a negative note, this USB Webcam is finicky about being plugged-in. Sometimes, I have to reboot the computer to make it aware of the camera. It also doesn't like all the USB ports on my Lenovo ThinkPad.

Logitech is Compatible with Nvidia Shield Android
9 October 2021

I set the Webcam on top of a TV, connected the USB cable to a Nvidia Shield Pro, and launched Google Duo. Flawless and crystal clear video chat with my retired parents via Google Duo on their iPad and a separate call to my wife's iPhone were perfect. Literally Plug-And-Play.Based on Nvidia's KnowledgeBase, all Logitech Webcams should be fully compatible with the Shield devices on the latest OS. You will not have any of the Logitech software features available on Android TV via Duo. There is a note that 4K is only available on the latest Windows OS and I can't confirm (although it appears to be) 4K on the Shield. This 4K business class device is definitely overkill, but it can be easily be repurposed for improved video conferences on my LG Gram laptop and Acer ... MoreI set the Webcam on top of a TV, connected the USB cable to a Nvidia Shield Pro, and launched Google Duo. This Logitech device resolved the issue.

Nice quality camera.
11 December 2021

I needed a new webcam for meetings. It is expensive (I managed to get this one on sale) but it works great. The software makes it extremely easy too adjust the camera settings and view, making it versatile for many applications. Nice clear picture and sound which I feel makes for a more professional atmosphere in meetings. I also like that it also works with Windows Hello for quick and easy sign in to the desktop (which factors into the price). I use it in two different settings, one for personal meetings where it rests on top of my monitor and the other setting is for larger meetings where we attach it to tripod in room so we can fit multiple people in the view. I'm afraid something will eventually break or get lost in the shuffle. If you want one of the best cameras on the market then give this one a chance.

Problem with Windows Hello
8 August 2022

Bought Logitech 4K Pro for use with Windows Hello. Have not been able to get it to work on two Windows 10 laptops. Both are Dell laptops and one has a fingerprint scanner that works with Windows Hello with no problem. I have spent several days reading solutions online and none of them worked. I have been back and forth with Logitech Support with no solution. Support has been responsive, but issue not resolved. This is a known problem just spend time researching online. The problem starts with the item itself. The box says 4K Pro but show up in Logitech software as Brio 4k Stream. The serial number (S/N) on the box is different from the S/N shown in software, and from the S/N actually on the device.Three different S/N's. Support told me that the S/N actually on the device means that it is a Brio 4k Stream. They sent me a firmware update (program) but it would not work because the program is looking for EEPROM 1.18 and this device has EEPROM 1.21 so it will not update the firmware. I have tried every solution possible and I have a great deal of computing (PC) experience both building and troubleshooting. Logitech has three very similar products and my guess is that they have a manufacturing problem - just go their website and try to find the different products and spend time looking at the support sites for these products - confusing. If you are not buying this camera for Windows Hello then I can tell you it works great and seemed to fulfill all other product claims. I only bought this because I thought that a higher quality webcam would surely work best for facial recognition. This may be only a problem with manufacturing (different components coming from different manufacturers in China due to COVID and chip supplies). The EEPROM/firmware update issue I believe is the problem. So some devices may have the correct EEPROM and be updated and work. Obviously, it does work for some people and is a good camera. Logitech has no solution for this and I will be returning it. Never could explain the different S/N's. I sent them pictures of the box, screen shot of Logitune, and actual device serial numbers. Confusing I know.

The camera was defective. I

The camera was defective. I returned it 2 days later. During the return process, I contemplated getting a replacement, but decided not to because the recent batch of cameras circulating are mostly all defective. Do a little research of your own and you will notice that most reviews of this camera sold in the last year are defective. The camera has an unfixable issue with the sensors phase and causes continuous horizontal lines in the footage/live view. Logitech is not correcting the issue and is instead selling broken or returned cameras as new. Their customer service is blaming it on the USB cable or the PC it's connected to instead of owning up to selling defective devices. I will no longer be purchasing Logitech peripherals until their quality control returns to its former glory. Shame on you, Logitech!

This was an awesome camera until I bought a new M2 Max MacBook Pro
29 March 2023

This was an awesome 4k camera when I bought it last year. Back then, I was using an Intel chip MacBook Pro. All was good and the software was functional. All that came crashing down Sunday when I bought a new M2 Max MacBook Pro. Now my camera automatically turns me into a bright red person. I hold a white card up to reset the camera but that doesn't always last more than a minute or 2... I tried downloading the LogiTune software but it will not load and everything I have read states that Logitech has made the choice not to support any M1 or M2 Apple silicon chips. When I asked the Apple Store Genius today, they still recommend the Logitech. Unfortunately, I require a monitor mounted camera, as my laptop is closed. What gives LogiTech?`

Works so much better than $40 cameras
18 November 2022

Wow! Fantastic! We have been using the $40 Microsoft web cameras, but they often flickered and show as extra bright and then go extra dark within 1 second. The controls within the camera app on Windows 10/11 to fix this are dismal. This Brio 4K Pro really fixed all of that! This has a few more controls, but it never seems to flicker. This has a few basic camera controls in the basic set up, but they really make a difference and help! This was 4x the cost of the $40 webcam, but if you need this for professional reasons, it is worth it. Wish we would have bought this years ago.
