This webcam says it is compatible with Mac computers… in reality it barely operates on a Mac. I mean, it turns on, but none of the features work, and none of the Logitech apps work to control it either. I spent a ton of time troubleshooting and talking to Logitech support who told me they were sorry but the software is no longer being updated to run on Macs, and it in fact crashes if your Mac has an M1 chip. When I reported this to Noel Leeming, they just said too bad, can’t return it, as I had spent some months trying to troubleshoot the issue. So unfortunately I paid over $80 for a completely useless webcam. I’d recommend testing out any webcams the same day you buy them and going straight back to Noel Leeming if there is an issue.

These C270 webcams have a flaw where the surface mounted image sensor becomes detached from the circuit board from heat over time. Once this happens, the screen is white (no image). You can tighten the bezel inside over the sensor to buy some time, but once this happens, there is no way to fix it concretely unless you have a surface mount soldering station, which virtually no one will. So, beware. This is a planned obsolescence product with a short timeline of a year or two of heavy use. Google reddit for it. There are plenty of cases out there.

Logitech offers an affordable widescreen HD 720p/ 30 fos video and quality photo camera, compatible with popular platforms. Can't speak about the built in microphone since I typically use a headset; however, the cameras ability to adjust to lighting conditions using their "RightLight 2" feature has been helpful after a few platform adjustments. The adjustable clip allows me to securely attached my camera to any monitor I'm using throughout the day, making the cameras highly portable. Given the price, I wasn't looking for all the bells and whistles and you won't find that here. Regardless of having no autofocus, a max resolution at 720, and a diagonal FOV of 55° I'm satisfied.

This is fine little webcam for only twenty bucks! It maybe doesn't have the highest resolution in the world, but it's more than adequate for videoconferencing. It arrived just loose in a bag, without any box or instructions, but that's fine. I was a little concerned before it arrived as I'm connecting this to an old desktop with a Windows Vista OS, and the specs say it only goes back to Windows 7, but it hooked up to my computer without any issues. And the thing basically just sits on top of the monitor, but its mounting clip seems to do a good job of hanging on. The only negative critique I could really come up with is that the camera seems to be zoomed in pretty tight, but that may just be from sitting a bit too close to it.

The light quality is pretty good and is automatically much brighter than my Macs builtin Factime. Did not bother looking at the leaflets beyond the URL to Logitechs camera site. Downloaded the camera controls. Quickly installed, I looked at the minimalist adjustable settings. Negatives seem few and far betwen but my biggest initial concern is that there seems to be a few seconds of lag between my selftest actions and what I see on screen. For example, if I go to Skypes test facility and clap my hands, the clap registers on the microphone test in sync but the physical clap isnt seen on screen until five seconds later. Thats far worse than FaceTime. I guess I will have to have a Skype chat with someone real now and find out how distracting or how present that time lag is in real use conditions. But picture wise, with the dowloaded Logitech software, its much improved on the built in camera but, most importantly, it DOES work straight from the box on Mac MacOS Sierra 10.12.6.
