A Very Cool (or warm) Light

I have been using an LED light that I bought years ago that has 12 bare LEDs, no diffusion and no adjustable color so I have to depend upon the software that I am using for meetings to adjust the color and brightness. No matter what, the lighting never looked good. This light looks wonderful when adjusted properly. The G-Hub app to adjust the light is available for Mac and Windows. Unfortunately my Mac can not be updated to the required 10.15 minimum (I'm running 10.14.6) so I can't run the app on the Mac as I do all my Zooms, Webex and Google Meets on my Mac. Since my Mac is next to my Windows computer, I plugged the Litra Glow into the PC and ran the Windows version of the app and aimed the light toward my Mac so I can still adjust the light.Just to make it clear, there is no internal battery in the light so I don't have to worry about it being out of power whenever I need to join a meeting. I just plug it into the USB jack on the computer and it turns on. The bracket that holds the light can be configured to fit onto any kind of laptop or desktop monitor. My computer monitor is in a cabinet and the shelf above the monitor is only a few inches above the top of the monitor so there's not enough room to mount the light on the back of the monitor. Since the light's mount can adjust in any direction, I placed the mount on the top of the shelf and have it hang over the top of the monitor. My only complaint is that the light is heavier than the mount so I had to put a weighted object on top of the mount to hold it in place or it would fall down.I love the look of my video using this light way better than what I've been using and I'm glad I have it now.

The back of it has built in cable management, where you loop it, and slid it into a channel in the back. This ends up becoming a problem. The cable starts cracking where it's looped, like it should have a much wider radius loop than it allows. I have reached out to logitech, they've asked for pictures, but nothing has really come of it. I've adjusted the cables only once and left it there, and bare wire is showing at this point. In some cases, their array of LEDs didn't have any diffuser so you would see lighting hot spots on your subjects. This caused me to drag my feet a little in choosing a product.Logitech has great timing, because as soon as I saw this product, I had to pick it up.The light panel is a 3.5 inch square and just under 1 inch thick. There are controls on the back of the panel for on/off, 5 brightness settings and 5 color temperature settings. This is mounted on a tilting and rotating joint atop of a 7 inch paddle that helps to brace the flip out stand against your monitor. The paddle telescopes to raise the light 3.75 inches with 7 stops for a total of 8 height positions. What's also nice is that the panel can twist off the joint to reveal a screw so you can mount the light panel to a tripod. Giving you more freedom of placement for this light. The back of the light panel has a USB-C port and in the packaging there is an included 5 foot USB-A to USB-C cable. As a side note, I was able to plug the USB-A end into a portable battery and was able to run the light off it. So this easily adapts for use as a photography light. The LEDs on the light panel sit behind a frosted panel that is effective in diffusing the light. I couldn't discern any bulbs at any brightness or color temperature levels.According to the specs, the color range goes from 2700 to 6500 Kelvin and a maximum output of 250 Lumens. It has a CRI (Color Rendering Index) of 93.To get beyond the 5 brightness and 5 color temperature settings, you need to use Logitech software to give yourself finer control. That's where I come to two nitpicks. First, this is a Logitech product and it's not advertised as part of the Logitech G family of gaming products, yet to control the light via software you must use the Logitech G Hub. Second, at the time of this review, I had 2021.13 version of the Logitech G Hub software installed for my other peripherals and have it set to update automatically. I even set it to check for updates and it wouldn't update. I had to download the 2022.1 which has been available for nearly two weeks. This update introduces support for the Litra Glow. Note: Once I got the update installed, it detected the light but got stuck initializing the profile on the Litra Glow, after closing out of the G Hub and reopening, everything was fine.Within the G Hub app, you have controls for power on/off, 6 lighting presets and the ability to create your own presets, the ability to select your camera, but what I find most useful is the sliding bars that allow the ability to change the color temperature and brightness levels beyond the 5 presets already on the light. This provides you with the ability to tune the light to offset additional light sources and present more natural skin tones in your streams. One of the unexpected features is that if you own a Logitech G keyboard or mouse, you can assign buttons to control the light for quick and easy access without having to open the G Hub app.I'm glad the Logitech expanded their lineup to include a streaming light. I was hard pressed to find a light with this much control and this many features in this price range. Logitech really hit it out of the park with this Litra Glow.

Great ring light alternative w/ custom features

Great ring light alternative with custom features like light temperature adjustments (warm to cool) as well as brightness. The LogiTune software is mostly convenient. I use the light and software in tandem with a Logi webcam. At the time of this writing on MacOS Ventura 13.3, one annoyance is I find my camera will lose focus and not enhance my video unless window for both the light/camera software is left open or minimized. The Litra Glow seems to be consistent in staying on the whole time but it seems like this could be an easy fix in the next firmware update. LogiTune does seem to have an update it wants you to install every week which can be a little annoying.Back to the Litra Glow! The arm on the back does seem unnecessarily long. I suppose its to stabilize it on a monitor but I feel if it was weighted or had a differently designed back, it could simply be clipped on or rest using it's weight rather than long arm to balance. Most monitors today have some form of curved or grooved back so, while its stable, it never seems to rest fully flush against the back.I used velcro the bunch up some of the cable slack and the light ultimately makes a big difference as my home office doesn't get a ton of natural light. It's very convenient and now don't have the need for an extra desk lamp or overhead lamp nearby. I never liked reflection ring lights have on people's eyes so this is a great alternative. It can get super bright if needed. I keep mine more on the warm side of the color spectrum to reduce eye fatigue. Feels premium and light is large. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their streaming, video calls, etc. And it works well on Mac.

Just what the doctor ordered.

The Logitech “Litra Glow” streaming light is just what the doctor ordered. I have been using a gooseneck table lamp and a room lamp as a light source to overpower the window backlight while conducting daytime work videos conference sessions. The gooseneck lamp works but it left a harsh shadow and there was no easy way to control the amount of light being cast. This Logitech light has so much more potential to be a streamer best friend with a video conference and creators in mind.It features a sleek 3.5” square frosted cover, LED light with 5 levels of colour temperature and brightness adjustable. This Logitech light has so much more potential to be a streamer best friend with a video conference and creators in mind.It features a sleek 3.5” square frosted cover, LED light with 5 levels of colour temperature and brightness adjustable. The lamp features five different colour ranges from 2700 K to 6500 K that can adjust your mood and lighting requirements. It also features five different levels of brightness, though unless you are in a totally dark room, levels 3, 4 and 5 are probably the most useful brightness levels. Around the back are buttons to manually control the light settings. The light mounts on your monitor like webcams do but have one neat feature, it can be raised to be above your line of sight, and can be further tilted up or down or rotated 270*. This allows for various lighting effects to be created, though, with one light, it just allows optimum placement. The Litra Glow light can be used as a Key Light in a multi-light set up for streaming and can provide quite a soft look. The light quality is not harsh, the colour is well balanced, and I found the 3000++K useful for my needs. I tried shining the light at a white wall to see the soft glow effect in a dark room. The diffuser on the light does an excellent job, however, you can still have strong shadows if it is placed too close to an object. The light can be powered by a USB port without hooking it to a computer, but if you do attach it to your computer, you get a few features from the provided Logitech Creator software. I use a Logitech gaming keyboard & mouse, and the Logitech G Hub software picked up my light when I plugged it in. The in-app settings include 6 preset colours and moods, including bright cool blue, and bright warm candlelight, ranging in various colour temperatures and brightness levels. Should one of the presets not work, you can adjust it manually to suit your needs. The first day I used this during my weekly 9 am conference call, the increased light was immediately noticed. I played with the various positions and colours until I found one that suited my liking. During the evening hours, I was able to reduce the brightness of the light to compensate for the lower light requirements in the evening, to highlight my face during a late evening gaming session.I love the design of this light, given that this market had other alternatives, but none as flexible in position and abilities. The light quality is soft and yet bright enough to light your face. This is a beautiful and functional product from Logitech. I highly recommend this if you are a creator, or have regular gaming/streaming/video conference sessions and need more light to make your video look outstanding.Pros:Lightweight, color accurate, video light to help improve your webcam videoPhysical button and software based setting changesCons:It runs a bit hot to touchIts not battery operated, though you can connect a USB powerbank via the provided cable.

Love it!
19 February 2022

My workspace/desk faces an interior corner of my office, which means the windows on the exterior wall are kitty corner, over my left shoulder and there is one that is almost directly behind me. The desk, which is built into the room/walls, means that I don't really have any flexibility to move my workspace. Depending on the time of day, if there is strong light coming through that window, even with a prior LED desk lamp that I had used behind the webcam, I could still show up as quite shadowed on a video feed. After getting the first one of these, I picked up a second one, being thrilled with the ability to adjust settings in my OS rather than having to do manual adjustments (though you can do that with the buttons on the backs of these). They sync in the G HUB software(!), which means I don't need to tweak them separately and those settings can be assigned to the G keys on my Logitech G910 keyboard. I have it set up to turn the lights on and off with a keystroke as well as to adjust the brightness and color tone with four other G keys. No need to open the G HUB app to make these adjustments. The best part, given my lighting situation, is that I get plenty of light on my face to offset times where I have a lot of sunlight coming through the window behind me. I had been debating getting another shade installed on that window, which I still might do to be able to dial down the brightness of the Litra lights, but I am able to get perfectly functional lighting for video feeds from my webcam in the meantime. The only quibble I have is with the G HUB app, which has a black backdrop for it. This can means that if you adjust the brightness and color in the app, if you then leave the app to use a video feed where more of your screen will be creating more light, how you look on camera might be a bit off. e.g., I do a good deal of screen capture for educational videos, so I don't have a black backdrop on screen as might be seen in Zoom meetings. Logitech might be wise to afford a white backdrop for adjusting settings for the lights so that what you see in G HUB is likely to align with what you see if you leave the app and are using a brighter desktop environment while using your webcam. All in all, I see this as a great product, offering the ability to adjust the settings on your computer desktop (Windows/Mac) without having to do so manually. The use of the Litra becomes even more outstanding and easy to use if you have a Logitech G keyboard with programmable G keys.

Next level for your streaming or home office

Logitech’s newest accessory isn’t a mouse, keyboard, or webcam, it’s a light! As many people have moved to working from home or hybrid work, and with more and more people sharing their experiences on streaming platforms, looking your best on your webcam has become a part of personal and professional life. Washed out poorly lit video is how many of your peers may see you, and having proper lighting to ensure your non-verbal messaging is getting across can be very important to your professional life. Streamers also know the value in a flattering and well lit environment, and a front light is a big part of that look.Logitech has made the Litra Glow panel light to help meet this need. Streamers also know the value in a flattering and well lit environment, and a front light is a big part of that look.Logitech has made the Litra Glow panel light to help meet this need. It can be controlled by the G hub app on your PC or by simple controls on the back. Color temperature and brightness can be controlled, and Logitech claims a high degree of color accuracy. Mounting the light is simple, it uses a small grabber foot to hook on to your monitor bezel, similar to most webcams. It can also be detached and mounted on any standard threaded tripod or mount with those threads. Thankfully, the cable is not attached to the back of the light, so you can position it as needed if you need a longer cable. The light end is USB-C, and a USB-C to A cable is included in the box.The light features a frameless design that helps avoid eye strain and softens the edges of the light. Additionally, it has been certified as safe by UL for all day use. In my experience it was not harsh or distracting when used.Setting up the light took about 30 seconds, just hooked it on my monitor, plugged it in, and it was ready to go! A couple of adjustments later and I found a color temp and brightness that complemented my webcam well. Having this front light is great, it removes shadows and provides a “catch light” – that sparkle in your eye without giving you a ring light reflection. With the adjustments and the soft light you can find a flattering color tone and level of brightness that makes your face clear without creating shiny spots. On a whim, I also plugged this into an iPad Pro’s USB-C port, and it powered right up. This makes it a great compliment for on the go use as it is fairly thin and compact folded up, another advantage over a large ring light. It can also be powered by a USB power bank if you want to use it for on the go vlogging etc.Overall, this is a well engineered light that separates itself from generic off-brand lights with good, full spectrum color and certified safety for extended use. It is flexible and compact, making it great for office or travel use. Small investments like this can make worlds of difference in how others see you on webcams, and this one is well worth it.

Nice compact light, more useful than expected

After getting a high quality mic and hd webcam, I still found my streaming setup incomplete. I was missing a lighting setup. Rather than going with some bulky and cumbersome ring light setup, I found myself with the Logitech Litra. The first thing that stood out to me, aside from the shape of the light being a solid square, was the mount. Like the mount on the webcam, this was designed to clip to the back of any monitor (or laptop screen) while still allowing me to adjust the height and angle that the light was shining at. This is perfect for keeping pesky reflections when I'm using my glasses. What's more is that the mount is completely removable, and you can install the light on any standard tripod base. This opens up way more options than simply being a light ... MoreAfter getting a high quality mic and hd webcam, I still found my streaming setup incomplete. I was missing a lighting setup. This is perfect for keeping pesky reflections when I'm using my glasses. What's more is that the mount is completely removable, and you can install the light on any standard tripod base. This opens up way more options than simply being a light accessory for a monitor webcam. There are physical controls on the back of the light, allowing you to turn the power on or off, set the intensity, and set the warmth of the light. You can also adjust the settings by installing Logitech's G Hub software. Included in the software are some preset lighting settings, but the biggest benefit to using it is the ability to set any of the lighting profiles to a custom keyboard button, provided you also have a compatible Logitech keyboard.Since there were on-device controls, and it was attached via a USB A to C cable, I tried plugging it straight into an external power source (a USB charging-only hub not connected to any computer) and it worked fine. It also worked using the portable battery pack I use to charge my phone in emergencies. This plus the tripod mount greatly expands the possible uses, as it does not have to be tied to a computer to use.The light itself has a nice range from cool blue tones to a warm orange. I find at night, during low light situations, and based on my darker complexion, a warm light and 35% brightness works great to illuminate and highlight my face without overexposure. The Logitech Litra may just well replace the bulkier LED box that I had been previously using for photography. Not only is it smaller and lighter with more options of powering on, but the nice diffuse light that it casts is better for preventing shadows. Logitech also claims all day usage without harmful effects, something that I didn't even know was an issue until I started doing research on blue light and LEDs.

Oversold and underperformed (expensive too).

Giving it a two (2) star only because of the neat installation, design, cable guide/holder and app to adjust the lighting. Would have given it a one (1) star rating if the design wasn't so nice!I bought this today (7/14/23) for work video conferencing from home. The picture in the online ad SOLD me on it working exceptionally well and bringing brighter lighting to my face. Their is also advertisement that the lighting will compliment natural skin tones (I'm the same hue as the guy in their picture). However, it simply did not work. I'm currently using a floor light with a 100W normal bulb and get a better performance than the Logitech Litra Glow Premium. If I use the Litra Glow Premium WITH the floor lamp, the performance is barely acceptable.Pretty expensive ... MoreGiving it a two (2) star only because of the neat installation, design, cable guide/holder and app to adjust the lighting. I think I'm going to go back to my floorlamp and upgrade it with a LED bulb and get my $60 back!!!!!!

Shed Some Light On Your Stream

Logitech promises a simple to use, innovative streaming light with the Litra Glow so I had to give it a try since I have a podcast every week that I struggle to find the right lighting for. This product seemed to hit all the checkboxes I needed from a light without getting in the way like my old tripod LED streaming light, so here’s how I liked it.Build Quality:This light is fairly inexpensive, so I didn’t expect much and I’m glad I didn’t because the build quality is pretty flimsy on the Litra Glow. It’s all plastic housing doesn’t seem like it could take a drop or fall, but then again this light will be mostly stationary once you get it adjusted to your liking. The all plastic build keeps the unit light though and that’s pretty good considering it’s probably ... MoreLogitech promises a simple to use, innovative streaming light with the Litra Glow so I had to give it a try since I have a podcast every week that I struggle to find the right lighting for. It’s all plastic housing doesn’t seem like it could take a drop or fall, but then again this light will be mostly stationary once you get it adjusted to your liking. The all plastic build keeps the unit light though and that’s pretty good considering it’s probably going to be hanging off the top of your monitor like mine is.Ease of Use:You can totally use this light by just plugging it into any USB brick and control the lighting from the back of the unit where there are buttons that turn the unit on/off and adjust the brightness and warmth of the light. If you want control at your fingertips then you’ll have to plug it into a USB port on your PC and load the Logitech G-Hub software. I did have to swap out the USB C cord with a longer one since the one provided is too short if your PC sits underneath your desk. The software will allow you to adjust the light to your liking while streaming a live webcam image. This is super helpful and a handy feature that really takes this product up a notch in my opinion. The integration with the G-Hub is a great feature that allows you to easily switch your lighting mid-stream if conditions change without having to get up and reach around for controls.Lighting:Well, this wouldn’t be much of a streaming light if it didn’t actually light up your face and help display your best self to the world, right? Well the Litra does just that with it’s frameless diffuser, which is actually kind of awesome. The diffuser itself is high quality and really spreads the light out to make it much less harsh than my other LED light with a regular framed diffuser. Adjusting the temperature of the lighting can make the glow of the light go from bright blue daylight all the way to candlelight orange and everywhere in between. There are several presets as well that you can mess with or even create your own. The Litra also gets blindly bright and even in total darkness I don’t find myself raising the power level more than about ¼ of the way up the slider bar. The Litra Glow does not have RGB, so you’ll only be experiencing the normal hues temperatures ranging from cool to warm.Overall:I really like the Logitech Litra Glow. Sure, it feels a little cheap, but you’ll forget about that once you put it in place. I have to knock a star off because for a unit that is supposed to be connected to a PC, the USB cord is super short and that’s not excusable for the price. Overall if you need a basic streaming light that won’t get in your way and allows you to control all it’s functions from a software program then this light is for you.
