As the sensor features a variable polling rate (to save battery) it can suffer a little bit at slow speeds, but under normal use it is very precise and allows for those small movements that are sometimes required for video editing. Battery life is outstanding, outclassing my G Pro wireless, and being able to customise buttons for Davinci and other software is an absolute breeze. Probably the coolest thing is if I want to take the mouse with me from work to home. I can have the dongle plugged into my PC at home, and have the mouse also connected to my Macbook Pro at work. This means that I can take the mouse to and from work and with a click of a button (under the mouse) I can switch computers from editing at work, to finishing projects at home. My only criticism is with regard to the infinite scroll wheel. There is a super handy button to turn infinite on/off and to turn on that 'notch' feeling from the scroll wheel. I just wish that scroll was a little firmer while infinite is turned off. I like the firm feedback knowing my scroll wheel isn't going to over scroll and scroll any further than I need it to. Overall I really am pleased with my purchase, and if you're like me, I think you will be too.

But those two items were kind of expensive, so I waited a couple months to see if I could get the combo at some discount. Didn't happen!I ended up scoring the mouse for $85 and paid list for the keyboard, both from Best Buy. I am so pleased with my acquisition! The mouse and keyboard are everything as advertised and more. Good but Flawed

This mouse is clearly aimed at productivity, I got it because I'm in spreadsheets all day and knew the side scroll wheel would be excellent for that. Unfortunatley, the default settings are so terrible as to be unusable. By default, the vertical scroll wheel is normal and the side scroll wheel is inverted. The vertical scroll wheel can also be toggled between "smart shift" and "free spin", both of which I can see the appeal of for others but aren't to my liking. All of this can be fixed with their software, fixing the direction of the horizontal scroll and setting the vertical scroll to "ratchet", which I would call normal. However, as a productivity focused product that I use for spreadsheets, that means I use this for work where I am blocked from installing ... MoreThis mouse is clearly aimed at productivity, I got it because I'm in spreadsheets all day and knew the side scroll wheel would be excellent for that. All of this can be fixed with their software, fixing the direction of the horizontal scroll and setting the vertical scroll to "ratchet", which I would call normal. However, as a productivity focused product that I use for spreadsheets, that means I use this for work where I am blocked from installing software on my work computer. I had to contact my IT department just to be able to use a mouse, which is ridiculous. If my IT department hadn't agreed to let me install the software, I would have returned the mouse, the inverted horizontal scroll was absolutely a deal breaker. I also am not a fan of having unnecessary extra software running in the background at all times, so even though their software does fix my issues with the mouse, I'm not happy with that as a solution.Otherwise it's a solid mouse. Comfortable and accurate, glides smoothly on my desk, bluetooth is convenient for laptops. Gesture functionality is neat but I don't really use it. Has just enough extra buttons to be useful. I didn't think I would like the quiet buttons, but after a few minutes to get used to them they are just as good as normal buttons. I think the only thing I would change about the physical mouse itself, is I would prefer a ratchet option for the horizontal scroll, but that one is only smooth.

Logitech MX MASTER 3S Mouse Issue, BUT read on:

This mouse initially displayed erratic lagging and freezing on my Windows 11 computer, even at lower dpi settings. I tried using different USP ports on the computer. I even reinstalled the "LogiOptions+.exe "software more than once with no improvement. Finally after several days I found the only true fix in a Reddit forum.... This mouse does NOT like using USB 3.0 ports for some reason. Their suggested and proven fix was to plug an older USB 2.0 HUB into the computer (I already had one) and the mouse "LogiBolt USB receiver" (a.k.a. dongle) into the USB 2.0 HUB. Wow, PROBLEM now SOLVED! Now this mouse works perfectly with no lagging or freezing at any dpi setting in the software. Wow, PROBLEM now SOLVED! Now this mouse works perfectly with no lagging or freezing at any dpi setting in the software. Just GOOGLE search "MX MASTER 3S lagging and freezing" to go down the rabbit hole of reading about it.On to my Review of the mouse itself AFTER the fix above: The magnetic scroll wheel is EXCELLENT, very SMOOTH. Tracking is perfect at my chosen setting of 2500 dpi. It tracks OK on glass, but BEST on a mouse pad; very precise compared to glass. The thumb wheel is handy set to "Zoom IN/OUT" in the software; works in web pages, .pdf readers and more. The shape feels great in my hand and the left/right button clicks are almost silent and very precise.I would have given the mouse 5 stars if not for this well known lagging glitch that Logitech knows about. BUT, I definitely WOULD still buy the Logitech-MX Master 3S mouse again because of the overall feel of quality.

Lots of functions on the MX Master 3S
20 December 2023

Lots of buttons and wheels that are programmable. Features that are not usually found on mice: It has a Thumb wheel which defaults to horizontal scrolling, and a thumb button that is also programmable. The Middle wheel has a great scrolling feature described below.Programmability: I reprogrammed the "forward" and "back" buttons to Page Up and Page Down, for example. You can also program a button to be used in specific apps. For example, I programmed the Thumb button to simulate ctrl-D in Outlook (to delete an email), and to ctrl-W in Firefox (to close a tab).A feature that many may find useful is what Logitech calls Gestures. A Gesture is the simultaneous use of the Thumb button while moving the mouse up, down, left, or right. These actions can be programmed to perform specific Windows tasks, such as changing sound volume, switching desktops, and numerous other Windows tasks. The mouse works great on glass. If you do a lot of window scrolling then the Middle wheel is great for that, because, as well as being able to scroll a fixed number of lines with each scroll wheel "click," you can quickly scroll a huge number of lines that is proportional to the speed that you flick the wheel with.Charging cable is USB-A/USB-C.Something you may not like: Logitech cordless mice and keyboards come with dongles (receivers) that are not backward compatible. This mouse comes with the Logi Bolt receiver, the latest receiver, and the mouse can only talk to this receiver, not the previous ones. So if you have a Logitech KB that came with the Unifying receiver, then you will have to continue using it, as well as the Bolt receiver that comes with this mouse, or use the Bluetooth capability of the KB or mouse. But if you use Bluetooth for connection of the mouse (or KB) to the PC then you will lose Logitech's capability to use the mouse (or KB) for input to a nearby computer at the tap of a button on the mouse (or KB).

After i started experiencing problems with this mouse, a quick search online reveal a range of different problems with the mx master 3s. From not connecting to devices, internal battery failure, rubber coating falling apart, to not working with max os because of updates to the os. Also this mouse doesn't updated, the factory firm is the only firmware for this mouse, even if your try using logi tech software to check for updated. Logi tech is aware of this but does seems to carry about the software issues. If you have an mx or mx 2 and are looking to upgrade, dont or looks at another brand all together.

The best mouse I´ve ever had!
19 March 2024

Recently I had a really bad injury in my left hand that forbids me to use it, so I was looking for a mouse that could help me to reach back the level of productivity that I had. I am an internationally trained architect, and I specifically use SketchUp among other 3D software for crafting my designs. So, if you are familiar with this software, you´ll know you use the left hand A LOT!Finding the right cost-effective mouse could be a tricky task nowadays, especially if you consider the tons of videos and useless self-promoting reviews you can find on the internet. So, what can you do? I needed a mouse quickly, so I went for the old reliable move: search on Amazon for the mouse with the best reviews and with a decent quantity of buyers. I found a broad spectrum of companies, like Razer, Corsair, Microsoft, Logitech, Kensington, and so many more. Still, I wasn't sure enough. I´m old school, so It´s hard for me to choose something if I haven't tried it first. Thus, I decided to go to Best Buy.The guys at BB couldn't give me good advice because this kind of buy depends on so many factors and preferences. It´s like buying a toothbrush, it is so personal. So I had to make a decision and did not know where to begin with, so I followed my gut and took the risk for the MX Master 3S.The features of this mouse surprised me. I mean, one thing is reading about it and another thing is experiencing it. Let´s begin with ergonomics. The mouse is perfectly designed to match the form and natural position of your hand, so you can work for hours effortlessly. One of the most impressive features is that your thumb has a place to rest within the mouse shape. The mouse has a thin side fin to hold your thumb and with a little bit of pressure, that side fin works also as a customizable button. You don´t need to change your thumb´s position, just put some pressure and ´click´.Moving forward with the thumb side, right above the fin you´ll find two perfectly shaped customizable side buttons. They are not too little to pass unnoticed, nor too big to feel uncomfortable, they are just the perfect size. You can easily find them and differentiate them without even watching.Above those two buttons, it comes the horizontal scroll, which is amazing because it gives you that great feature of a tracking pad or a magic mouse, but from a different and more comfortable angle. All controlled by your thumb. The vertical scroll has two speeds, which I found to be a fantastic feature too. It gives you speed when you require it, or control when you are working with zoomed things. Depending on what you need or prefer, this mouse got you covered. You can easily change modes with a tiny button below the scroll.Another great feature is the the clicking sound. For me it´s like having a golden gun with a silencer. It feels so smooth, fancy and precise. It´s just perfect!Last but not least, the fabrication materials. The main surface of the mouse that touches your palm has a wonderful flat black matte color with a texture that resembles the lines of a zeppelin. That texture begins at the side fin and fades away once it reaches the ridge of the mouse. The clicking buttons have a balanced black satin color that creates enough contrast for the eye and the fingers to differentiate them.I almost forgot. Logitech has a super easy app for setting your preferences on the mouse for virtually any application on your computer, even when using your web browser. It means that your mouse will behave differently in any desired scenario, allowing you to make the most of it. For me, it is the king of productivity. This mouse turned out to be more than I expected. It is the perfect balance between simplicity, productivity, and exquisiteness. I would recommend this mouse with my eyes closed. It is the best!

They need to try again
21 December 2023

I really tried to love this mouse, but ultimately it went back for various deal breaking reasons. For context I use a lot of AutoCad, and view a lot of large PDFs for school, so I was interested in a "productivity mouse" that has a horizontal scroll wheel. I come from a long run of "gaming" mouses. However, expectations meet reality when you realize that this is just a standard "consumer" level wireless mouse from Logitech with a fancy skin and buttons. For over $90 you get an extremely overweighted mouse with one of the lowest polling rates and worst scroll wheel. What does this mean? Well if your eyes are used to Logitechs other great wireless mouse's with much higher polling rates, you can visually see the mouse "ghosting" or "jittering" as you move it across ... MoreI really tried to love this mouse, but ultimately it went back for various deal breaking reasons. For context I use a lot of AutoCad, and view a lot of large PDFs for school, so I was interested in a "productivity mouse" that has a horizontal scroll wheel. Well if your eyes are used to Logitechs other great wireless mouse's with much higher polling rates, you can visually see the mouse "ghosting" or "jittering" as you move it across your screen. Because what's happening is the mouse is checking for movements at a much lower rate than a gaming wireless mouse that you can buy for less or the same price from the same brand. The vertical scroll wheel has two modes, one that is satisfyingly tactile but noisy, and one that is so loose you end up going from the top to the bottom of a webpage in what feels like 1/16th of a scroll, and it has this unnecessary automated scroll feature (who needs that?)The horizontal wheel however is PERFECT. It has just the right amount of resistance and tactility that it becomes second nature. This thing must be like 400 grams because it's just simply too heavy for a mouse that's meant for long hours of productivity and that's coming from a Razer Naga user. (Heavy Gaming mouse)To sum it up, the horizontal scroll wheel is the only thing actually good about this mouse, everything else is garbage.
