I want my desktop and laptop to be able to use the same keyboard and mouse. And then when I travel, I want my laptop to use my compact mouse - without more dongles! So... if you allow the keyboard and mouse to work with more than one unifying receiver, I think you have conquered it all! So, my desktop has a unifying receiver and my laptop has a unifying receiver. They both pair with the same keyboard and mouse. And then, my laptop also pairs up to another mouse that I use when I travel. Make sense? I think you're on to something great - keep it up!

I ordered this same receiver from Best Buy with the promise of one week delivery. After a week, I was told the product was on hold with no expected delivery date. After waiting 3 weeks, I cancelled the order and reordered with Walmart. I received the receiver in 5 days, which came in a sealed clear plastic bag. I thought the product would come in a commercial-type packing. No setup instructions came with the product. I googled Logitech for the instructions and downloaded the app from their website. After installing the app to the computer I would be using the receiver with, I was able to sync the mouse with the receiver and they worked with no problem. I purchased the Logitech USB Unifying Receiver to go with a Logitech MK850 Keyboard & Mouse combo I have. I wanted to use the same keyboard & mouse on two different P.C.’sThe set-up was a snap and the Logitech MK850 Keyboard & Mouse combo worked right out of the box, no issues with the USB Unifying Receiver that came with the MK850 keyboard. The keyboard & mouse have corresponding numbers on them to indicate which device is active, so you would think it would be “brain dead dumb” to set-up the second P.C. & USB Unifying Receiver, right? Not quite! Here’s where the only issue I have with this USB Unifying Receiver & the Logitech MK850 Keyboard & Mouse combo comes up.First the software has to be installed on both P.C.’s for the Logitech MK850 before you can set the ... MoreI purchased the Logitech USB Unifying Receiver to go with a Logitech MK850 Keyboard & Mouse combo I have. The software instructions tell you to turn off the mouse and then turn it back on to assign it the corresponding number (1,2 or 3) No problem, these are on the mouse & keyboard. That worked fine, the keyboard doesn’t have an on/off switch, so you have to remove one of the batteries! Then put it back in, and then assign it the number you want it to be.The instructions make no mention of this! Once I got everything set-up, I've had no issues! After having & using the Logitech USB Unifying Receiver in conjunction with the Logitech MK850 Performance Full-size Wireless Optical Keyboard and Mouse combo for a month, I have to say I love this set-up. I highly recommend this Logitech USB Unifying Receiver. It works like a champ!

I purchased a mouse form Amazon with the receiver inside and installed the doogle and batteries that were sent with it. At first I thought it was working as the cursor could be moved around screen and if I put the cursor on something I wanted to open it worked great. I found a problem when I put the cursor in the search box and then tried to type in what I wanted to search for. I found I could not use my keyboard for anything then. After talking with Logitech person I found they did not know how to help me. They said it was my computer and need to purchase another on. I sent the mouse back to Amazon and purchased another identical mouse straight from Logitech. My experience with the Logitech Unifying receiver so far has been mixed. On purely Bluetooth devices, with the Logitech receiver software, some devices register fine, while others will simply not register. For instance, I lost the USB dongle on a Logitech H800 headset, and multiple efforts failed to register it on my desktop (which did not come with Bluetooth). Same with my JBL headset. I hope to find the solutions for these devices, as Logitech is one of my favorite companies, but so far, these 2 devices have failed to register. I will update my review if I can get them registered. I trust in Logitech, so I hope to report back a better review.
Nearly every modern laptop uses industry-standard USB C connectors, while the Logitech Unifying Receiver bafflingly relies on an antiquated USB A connector, rendering it incompatible with the vast majority of laptops currently sold. Even Logitech's CEO recently told the Verge that USB C is preferable for consumers and the industry:"It is confusing, but USB-C is cool. I do like that the big companies seem to all be moving in that direction. It’s helpful for us: if everybody can get to one standard, then it’s more efficient on our end. Most importantly, USB-C is just easier for users. You don’t want everybody to be trying to figure out, like I was a few minutes ago, trying to find a cord to plug into a port. I was running around the floor out here, looking at ... MoreNearly every modern laptop uses industry-standard USB C connectors, while the Logitech Unifying Receiver bafflingly relies on an antiquated USB A connector, rendering it incompatible with the vast majority of laptops currently sold. When I purchased this item, it was only supposed to be an open box. That is supposed to mean that it was just opened, not used. One of the kickstands was missing and many of the keys didn't work. This product was used and wasn't working properly. Evidently the mouse was used and not working properly either because they bought another to replace it. That was cheaper than than replacing the keyboard. This never should have been sold.
The unifying receiver works great with my Logitech keyboard & mouse; electronically, it is an excellent receiver. The 1-Star rating is because the head is so shallow, I can't get my fingers on it to pull it out of my USB port, when I need to switch to another computer; I have to use a pair of pliers. I can't believe anyone would engineer something as poorly this; the head needs to be longer, so that it can be pulled out with human hands.
I've used the unifying receivers for years with great results. I currently use one on a laptop for work and home, and have it paired with two sets of keyboard and mouse. It seamlessly connects in both locations with no fuss. My problem is that my new laptop only has USB-C, no USB-A, and the adapters that Logitech (and other vendors) provide add a lot of bulk compared with the slim, low profile USB-A receiver I've been using. On the old laptop I left the receiver always connected to a spare USB-A port, and it's low profile was nearly invisible. The laptop easily slipped into its case with no need to remove the adapter. Now I have to carry around a bulky adapter and plug-unplug constantly. Please Logitech, let's have a native low-profile USB-C receiver!!
I bought this device because I wanted to use my favorite keyboard with a computer at work, another at home and Android TV. Each device gets a separate Unifying transceiver. So what if the mouse or keyboard communicates only with the receiver with which it is paired and programmed in the Unifying software. I thought the device would connect to the first detected transceiver it is paired with, but no, only preprogrammed. Now I have one mouse, one keyboard and three useless transceivers. Thanks a lot logitech - you're solving problems no one has.
