I am so excited about this camera! I purchased this to snap photos at a birthday party coming up but tested it out this weekend. I LOVE that the LENS CAP IS A REMOTE!!! I was so thrilled to learn this! I honestly did not read the description when I purchased it but everything about it was a pleasant surprise! additional lenses and filters to try out! This was worth every penny!!! It took a packet of photos to learn how to take pictures correctly, but I am in love with this! I do wish it came with a camera strap but all the other features of this make this a stellar product!

I wanted to love this camera so badly. I did love it... while it lasted. I purchased this exact camera in black but it gave out after about a year and a half. I decided that I loved it so much I would purchase it again, but in white. The white camera only lasted me maybe six months before also giving out. For how expensive this camera is, the quality is just not there. Cameras should last much longer than only 6mos - 1 year. I definitely do not recommend this product if you want something that is of quality and will last!

It's not perfect. It's made of plastic and a cheap feeling paper like material. But I didn't buy it because I thought it was the quality of a $5000 DSLR. I bought it to have fun and be creative without using a computer to alter my image into something unrealistic. The outdoor pictures I have taken have all turned out amazing. You have to keep in mind lomography is not about super precise professional type pictures but rather just having fun. A lot of people say it over exposes in bright sunlight and they are probably right but in my experiences I think they look great. It is an instant camera using ISO 800 film so if you are expecting sharp digital quality photos.... buy a digital camera. For me it is so much fun to use and experience the magic of instant photos ... MoreIt's not perfect. It's made of plastic and a cheap feeling paper like material. The focus system does require you to have ability to judge distance somewhat accurately. The .6 meter setting is great for a close up portrait and has come out great for me every time in natural light with no flash. Indoor with flash has not been so great but I've only shot a few. When you get further away the judgment of distance and the markings on the lens become more important. A lot of people complain about the markings but I have found if the subject is about 3-4 feet away I go half way to the 1-2 meter mark. 4-6 feet away on the mark and 6-10 feet away between the 1-2 meter mark and infinity. Anything past 10 feet just set it to infinity. The close up lense is tricky to get the distance correct but like I said previously it's about taking pictures and having fun. It's awesome when you get that flower petal perfectly focused but it's still pretty cool when the leaves behind it are in focus and the petals are a little blurry. I really like the kind of dream state looking pictures it produces. I'm no pro but I love instant photos. Don't listen to all the negative Nancy's and just buy this camera for what it is....fun. Be creative and take pictures

Don’t buy it!

The camera stop working after shooting 5 cartridges of film. The quality is really bad, besides the lens -that is ok!- the plastic is cheap, seems a toy camera. The flash is not strong enough for a distance of more than 1mts. I strongly not recommend this camera. The quality of the fuji instax is much better

Fun, unique instant camera!

Such a fun and cool camera! The features on the camera like the multiple exposure make this instant camera stand out from all the rest. Not to mention the design and build, looks and feels far superior to the other competitors. Everyone I take photos of loves the shots, perfect for nights out with friends, weddings, parties...you name it!

Firstly, I found the quality of the camera very fragile, hence the name lomo I guess. The film door latch looks like it could break at any mount. Probably a ok camera for a novice to learn on, I suppose. Has some features others don't, like Dbl. Exp. Good luck with the close up lens getting it to focus. Image quality is not as good as a Fuji Instax 90 Mini. Fish Eye lens produces a very small circular image. Very small! Can't recommend this camera, Fuji makes a much better product, with much better image quality! That's my humble opinion.

Lots of features and a load of fun

I've owned this camera for over a year now and really enjoy taking instant photos with it. The extra lenses and ability to control aperture and exposure time allows me to be very creative with the photos I take. The plastic lens also produces a wonderful vignette effect. When compared to the photos taken with my Instax 50S, the Lomo'Instant photos have a much richer color saturation. I also appreciate the fact that this camera uses inexpensive AA batteries, rather than the more expensive CR2 batteries that some other Instax cameras require. I think the weakest point of this camera is taking indoor photography in low light. To get a good indoor photo, the subject needs to be within a couple of feet of the camera. Very Good Instant Film Camera Compared to the Competition.

The Automat Glass is quite the instant camera. The lens itself is sharp, and even though the lens is very wide (at 21mm equiv.), colors are nice and saturation is not too high. The plastic they use is not too cheap feeling, and it is covered in foam-like padding that makes it soft to the touch. It was also smaller than I expected, and isn't super light (though it is still lightweight).Shadow detail is dependent on lighting, as it would be on any camera, as well as the film's exposure latitude. If your background is much brighter than the subject, or much darker, try to fill with the flash or use the exposure compensation to correct it as much as possible. For the most part, I have not had issues with the metering that didn't make sense. It was usually an issue of ... MoreThe Automat Glass is quite the instant camera. If your background is much brighter than the subject, or much darker, try to fill with the flash or use the exposure compensation to correct it as much as possible. For the most part, I have not had issues with the metering that didn't make sense. It was usually an issue of the background being many stops brighter than the subject. The camera also feels good to operate. The lens acts as the power switch, and turning it to any of the focus distances will also turn the camera on. It has clicks that gently keep it in place when at a focus distance. The lens will also stop at infinity unless you push a little button near the lens, which unlocks it so it can turn off. A nice feature, for sure. There are a few additions or changes I would like for the camera, if it were possible:- The flash should never be on by default on any camera, especially the Automat Glass with its f/4.5 lens. You have to remember to turn it off if you're in any lighting brighter than a poorly-lit room.- a 35mm equivalent focal length would have made the camera better for day-to-day use. Anything too wide or narrow will have more specified use cases. It decreases the amount of depth of field from the lens as well, which I can see affecting accurate focusing... which brings me to my next addition.- The camera uses zone focusing, which means you have to guess what your focus is unless you have a way to measure it. With the close-focus adapter, I literally had a small ruler to measure the 10 centimeter close focus distance so the subject would be in focus, and even then I messed it up trying to take a picture one time. Keep in mind that, at standard pricing, color film packs are $1 a photo. If you miss focus, that's a dollar lost. It would be nice to have some form of autofocus or, at the very least, focus assist. My only other solution besides a ruler is to have a distance measurer that's usable outdoors and is lined up with the camera's front element to get a more accurate reading. Even then, the distance scale is very basic, so it would be hard to assume proper focus. They're also pretty expensive, so... that's another problem.- Only having one stop to make an image brighter or darker is limiting. If my background is very bright, and I can't do anything about it like recompose, there's a high chance that it will not be exposed properly. Even with the +/- exposure compensation, it is possible to get a blown-out background and lose another dollar.- The threading on the adapters is not good. I am not sure if the lens threading is universal or proprietary, but if overscrewed, the lens accessories will pop off the threading and need to be carefully tightened.- Manual control and a wider range of aperture settings would make this thing even more insane. *Especially* if there was a very basic light meter (dots that change colors when you are over or underexposed, like there are in the viewfinders of many SLRs). Getting the exposure you wanted would be a little easier, and the option to have manual or automatic would allow more experienced photographers to get more out of their cameras.Another issue I had with my kit specifically is the scratched up close-focus adapter. The amount of "micro" scratches on it was insane, and though I don't think they show up in pictures, I don't like getting factory-new items with that many scratches. They were visible in regular lighting (especially outdoors) and I unfortunately cannot test to see if they impact the quality of the image because I have nothing to compare it to.ALL of that out of the way, even with my gripes, I would say the Automat Glass is probably one of, if not the best, Instax cameras. Once you learn how to use the camera, getting pleasing images becomes easy. More keeper shots, happy memories, and a happier bank account.
