This helmet looks great, fits great, and functions very well. It comes with a trim kit to remove the visor and run it as a street helmet. ventilation seems adequate, will know better when it's 100* out this summer.
Broke after two weeks. The neck padding delaminated from the helmet since all that's holding this paperweight of a helmet together, is some cheap adhesive slapped onto foam??? Seriously?? For a ~$450 helmet, you'd expect more. Would not recommend at all.
After a few months and several thousands of miles of use, I am fairly happy with this helmet. It replaced an aged-out Shoei Hornet X2. I had previously replaced a dirt helmet with an LS2 and was very happy with it, so gave the Explorer a shot for street use.Fit/Comfort - I wear an XXL in Shoei, HJC, and Bell. Initially the LS2 helmets feel a bit snug but break in after several rides. That said I am still feeling a bit of a hot spot in the forehead area.Noise/ventilation - the helmet does vent well, especially in comparison to my old Hornet which did not. This obviously comes at a cost of some additional noise, but I wear ear plugs, so this is a non-issue.Visor optics - this is the area of my only complaint and will keep me from buying another. The optic quality of both the inner tinted shield and the outer clear shield are just slightly off. Enough to be noticeable and irritating on a long ride. When both are used at the same time, the issue is compounded. I also ordered a tinted outer shield. Unfortunately, that shield is also not optically correct. Additionally, the shape of the lower portion of the shield rules out running it partially open in some positions and it will block your view.
Pros :Looks good, comfortable fitNot great, not bad:Noise and airflowCons:The magnetic strap digs into your Adams apple (I cut mine off an replaced them with DD straps from an older retired helmet), the retractable tinted visor does not go down as far as I would like
The sizing is off. I have an XL arai xd4 that fits perfectly. I wanted something different and a more updated look. So I ordered a xl in this. The build quality looks great. The sun visor is spot on. But it leaves a huge pressure point on my forehead. Which sucks becuase it is listed as IO same as the arai. I wish I could have made this helmet work. FYI the weight is almost identical to the size xd4. The overall size of the ls2 is bigger than the xd4. If I had a more round head I would be keeping this.
Bought this a San Diego BMW. Never should have bought it. Fit sucks I wish I stayed with an Aria. Visor is cheap, and it?s a nosy helmet. The sit visor screw fell out while on a coastal trip, so luckily a auto shop had a screw I rigged in. The chin clasp unbuckles if you yawn. Riding home on the highway I was stretching my neck down and up and the helmet unbuckled and almost flew off. WTF. Stick with an Aria XD-4 and don?t waste your money.
I've always worn Arai and klim helmets, I was in the market for a new adventure lid and had been reading reviews of the LS2 on many adventure riding sites, thought I would jump in and give one a try. First impression was how good the quality and build is, way better than expected, comes with great carrying holdall and a genuine pinloc insert. Riding with the helmet for around 20 hours now, it's super comfortable, very quiet, probably the quietest lid I've ever owned, great vision and awesome airflow with many venting options. Build quality and finish seems to be up there with the top names, also safety is DOT, ECE, and I've noticed on some UK video reviews it gets ACU gold rated, so track rated. I had was slightly nervous breaking away from the big brands but have ... MoreI've always worn Arai and klim helmets, I was in the market for a new adventure lid and had been reading reviews of the LS2 on many adventure riding sites, thought I would jump in and give one a try. I had was slightly nervous breaking away from the big brands but have been very surprised by my purchase, the fit is most definitely intermediate oval, some say they had trouble fitting coms, I fired my Cardo freecom into mine with no issues, I did find I had to put the internal speakers slightly more forward then in my other helmets but they are comfortable and sound great. Helmet is too new to comment on durability but coming from a company that has built helmets behind the scenes for many big brands I'm sure they have this nailed. Go on, give one a try, every brand has to start somewhere, I'm sure this name will be all over the motorcycle tracks of the world soon.
