I had trouble with the suction cup - my light kept tipping forward but I adjusted the light towards the back which seemed to help. I also couldn't figure out how to lock the tripod legs in place (they kept slipping down from the weight of the light). I found a review on this site that explained you have to twist the collar at the top to lock the legs. If I'd had more time to tinker I would have figured this all out, but I'm sure there are many people like me who don't really have the time. Just a little more instruction would have prevented some frustration - I'm not letting that impact my review rating, however, since the product itself is excellent.Long story short, this does exactly what I hoped it would do. I've recommended it to colleagues who will be conducting virtual learning and conferences.

These work great in two ways for me. The first is to stand one up behind a laptop wherever you happen to be sitting. The second is paired up on either side of a large/wide monitor (like an iMac). The tripods are sturdy enough and don't shake. They have plenty of vertical height so they can be above a large monitor and point down a bit to avoid shadows. The lights themselves have a small color screen on the back (I think OLED) that shows you the current color temp, brightness setting, and battery life remaining. The battery life updates based on your settings. I leave the plugged into a USB hub, and they work great in a permanently plugged in setting. With short distances like a desktop, I've found to that 30 to 35% brightness works well. These aren't too bright on the lowest setting, and there is a lot of headroom to go brighter in bigger rooms or if want to bounce light around the room. They also go from very warm to very cool in terms of color temperature. If you're near a window working from home, it's nice to be able to make one side warm and one side cool to balance out the light differences between inside and outside lighting.A quality I issue I found is that the mode button and jog dial rattle a bit when you move the light. Of the two I have one is much louder than the other. If you plan to move around with these and record audio this will probably show up on your audio recording. I contacted Lume Cube, and their support team said they had not heard of this and it wasn't something they'd cover under warranty. I think it's a quality of manufacturing tolerance issue they just aren't focused on. So, be aware of this if you want to mount this on a camera.

I bought one of these for an improvised indoor photo studio for pictures of small objects, dishes, for example. I get diffused sunlight from a very large window at one side but the other side of of an object would be in shadow. I crank the color temp to 5600K to come close to natural light and get good color rendition. It's also handy to adjust the brightness to get the same exposure all around the object. It's also good to be able to adjust the height of the LEDs to put the light where needed on an object of somewhat complex shape. One lamp is enough for my objects but using another would be useful for something that has a hollow needing light from a third direction. This light as functioned perfectly all of these ways. One lamp is enough for my objects but using another would be useful for something that has a hollow needing light from a third direction. This light as functioned perfectly all of these ways. It's very easily adjusted. I like the data about battery life since I prefer using the light without a charging cord that might be bumped to knock the lamp over. It's stable enough to not have much hazard of that when battery operated. The battery power is plenty since I can only use my studio midday when the sun's shining.I would suggest only one change and it's not a big deal. There's a rotatable ring around the shaft which had notches for folding the legs against the shaft when not in use. The ring is rotated one sixth of a turn to hold the legs deployed when in use. It would be good to have a shallow detent between the notches so that the legs in the notches would gently lock the ring from inadvertent rotation. It's not a big deal since there's plenty of friction between the ring and deployed legs if you just press them up to start with. I don't consider this a defect, it would just be a cheap safety feature some users would like.Clearly a five star rating for my purposes.
It's kind of a shame to give this such a low review, but the tripod legs are really that frustrating. It's almost impossible to get them to hold the light up without falling. Most of the time they splay out and make the light pretty unstable. The diffuser that comes with the light also gets kind of twisted up on the stand which isn't too annoying, but it could've been designed around this. That said, the light is versatile, has decent battery, and it's nice that you can charge it through USB. If I were you, I'd buy the light separately and get something else to mount it on.
Using Lume Cube for about 1.5 months and it has stopped working. Period. Have gone through all troubleshooting and nothing works. The light cuts out literally after just a few seconds and despite resetting and everything else recommended as possible fixes, it's no better. A total waste of ~ $90.00. Really not happy with this product or purchase. Also, now I'm without the lighting I need for my work.
I have been very impressed with the quality of the Broadcasting Kit. The light panel, tripod, suction cup, diffuser and included cables are all top notch items. I bought this setup for better lighting during online business meetings. I set the Go light panel up on its tripod behind my monitor. At first I thought I had wasted my money because even with the brightness set its minimum output and the light on its 'warmest' colour setting, I still found the light shining at me to be somewhat irritating. Your mileage may vary. Before you ask, yes, this was whilst using the light with the supplied plastic diffuser attached to the front of the Go panel. Your mileage may vary. Before you ask, yes, this was whilst using the light with the supplied plastic diffuser attached to the front of the Go panel. I was resigned to having wasted my money and was thinking I should perhaps look into other, 'softer' lighting solutions, such as a 'ring' light, when I decided to try turning the light around on its tripod so it faced the wall directly behind my desk, which is 9" from the light. I turned the 'colour' up to 4000 (so much 'cooler' than the previous setting) and the light intensity up to 70% (previously set at 1% when it was facing me) and voila! My face is now lit up with an excellent, soft, reflected light. If you also have a white painted wall within a foot of the rear of your desk you may wish to try this option, too, if you find the Go panel to be an irritant on the eyes when facing you.
This works fairly well though isn't perfect. It has a few different mounting options, but none of them worked very well for putting the light above my monitor so that it can be directly on my face rather than hitting my face at an angle and thus creating shadow from my nose etc. I ended up having to jury rig something to get direct light coming from above my monitor (especially important since my webcam is attached to the top of my monitor). The warmest setting also doesn't seem especially warm, though the room I'm using it in has very cold lighting, so it may just be a lot to compensate for.Since I'm using this at a desk, my intention was just to leave it constantly plugged into USB power. It can charge while using, but the manual it comes with specifically says it needs to be unplugged when finished charging. So I'm not sure that it's able to be left plugged in all the time (and don't dare leave it plugged in all the time to see what happens), so this means I've been having to unplug it everytime I'm finished using it. A bit annoying. Those complaints aside, the picture does look a lot better with it on than without it!
Not much I can add that others have not already mentioned. It's a nice product, but...There's been many comments regarding the tripod legs and their (lack of stability). I hope this addresses that issue.I watched a video made by Lume Cube in July of 2020. Back then, the product had a tension ring that, when you turn it, secures the legs and keeps everything steady. Based on that, I ignored all the other comments you've seen here -- figuring that all these other people just didn't know how to use it -- and purchased it. When I tried to set it up for the first time, guess what? No tension ring! So I went back to Youtube and did some more research to find a similar video, also produced by Lume Cube, but made only a few months ago (December 2021). So I went back to Youtube and did some more research to find a similar video, also produced by Lume Cube, but made only a few months ago (December 2021). In this video, there's no mention of the tension ring. No, this new design doesn't have that feature (something I thought was cool) and instead have added a new feature -- the legs can now be extended a few inches. This will, naturally, give it a bigger footprint and, hopefully make it more sturdy, but at the expense of making it a little taller (which may or may not matter to you). In any case, you do need to be careful, even if you extend the legs. If you're going to also extend the column to its full height -- the entire setup will be top heavy.I called Lume Cube and they were happy to discuss this with me and admitted that there had indeed been a design change. We didn't get into a this is a better or worse design discussion, but they did admit that this newer model no longer has the locking ring. So, now it's up to me to determine if I want to keep it or not (probably will).Hopefully, someone else wanting to purchase it now won't do it without knowing a little more than I did before I purchased mine.
This light is awesome! It's basically the size and weight of a cell phone, but packs a lot of punch! It does get very bright. If you're a couple feet from the light, you only need it set around 15% intensity for a well lit shot. The battery seems to hold a charge for quite a while, especially when running it at a lower brightness. It's nice that there is a battery meter that tells you how much time is left on the battery, and it changes depending on your set level of brightness. It's very easy to dial in the color temperature too. I would skip the suction cup mount and use the tripod. In response to another review, saying that the tripod collapses under the weight of itself...there is actually a ring that spins that will lock the legs in place. I actually didn't realize this at first, as it's not entirely obvious. But once you lock it in, it's very sturdy. I do video professionally and I'm considering re-purposing this light to use as my on-camera light as well. Very happy with my purchase!
