I got this Blue Lunette cup in a cloth pad order I got from Etsy and I honestly had given up on wearing cups because, though I've worn cups for years, a few months ago, my body began rejecting them. I've had other cups but my dogs have somehow found their way to them after I've washed them and had them on the dry rack đŸ˜© So I have 3 others and I honestly think the Lunette size 2 is my favorite 💗 it's firm on the rim so that it seals wonderfully without any leaks but it's not too firm that it's uncomfortable. I did have to trim the stem because it kept stabbing me and was irritating. Because it is firmer than most of the cups I've worn, it took more oomf to put it in and I tried 3 different folds of the cup before I finally got it in. So while it was difficult to get into place, once it's in and in place, it stays there until you take it out. I've had issues so many times with my cups because the rim isn't firm enough and while they're so comfy and soft, sometimes they'd cave in or come out and the cup would spill everywhere if I were going pee or sitting and the cup was getting full. So while I do like that my other cups are softer, they aren't super reliable and life-proof like the Lunette seems to be. Minus one star because I don't feel this is beginner friendly (and I don't think I'm a beginner and I had issues with insertion so imagine a beginner trying to insert this). I know it's the correct size because I'm over 30 (just turned 31 last month) have endometriosis aka super heavy flow which size 2 is recommended for that kind of profile. I would recommend this cup to those who are experienced with using menstrual cups often because it does have a learning curve to it unlike a lot of cups I've used. This holds a lot of blood too which is nice especially if you're at work and can't empty it right away.

I just got off my period this month (another 5 day period!), no leakage whatsoever and I AM OFFICIALLY HOOKED! I've found the groove with inserting and removing it and it is amazing that I only have to empty it every 10-12 hours! You cannot feel it AT ALL if inserted correctly. I did not have to trim the stem but I've read where you may have to. I love that all you have to do is rinse the cup out (cold water first to resist staining, then hot) and then reinsert it. After your period is over is when you use a dab of the wash and boil it for 20 minutes then store it back in your baggy! I have no complaints at all about this amazing little cup. I will never go back to anything else. There is a pretty steep learning curve and you have to get VERY comfortable with yourself to make sure you have the suction correctly and things like that but honestly, it is amazing and I'm annoyed I didnt do this sooner! Pads and tampons be gone! Lunette for life!

UPDATE: IT'S BEEN SEVERAL MONTHS SINCE THIS ORIGINAL REVIEW. There is definitely a learning curve. I did end up purchasing the smaller version and it is much more easy to remove than the larger size. Perfect for light to regular days. I still use the larger one for my heavy days and simply switch to the smaller cup afterwards. I have never had a child and I usually have 2 out of 7 days of my cycle is heavy (used to use Ultra tampons) so I purchased the larger version. I must say I yelled from the pain of pulling it out the first time. Also, my last two days of my cycle is pretty light and I couldn't remove it. I thought I was going to end up in the ER. But thankfully after 24 hours and sleep (because the night before I tried for hours to get it out and decided to rest and shower in the AM before heading to the doctors) that's when it came out the next day during my first urination. So I would watch a TON OF YOUTUBE VIDEOS to get as much information as possible. Also, this was my first attempt. I enjoyed not changing tampons all day but had to rush at the end of my work day home to take it out in the comfort of my own home. Can be messy on your hands. My friends have warned me there's a learning curve and told me to try it for 3 full cycles. So I will try again. But I may purchase the smaller cup for my lighter days. Also, I was uncomfortable of the thought of boiling it in my cookware so I purchased a menstrual cup steamer to disinfect 99.99% (better than boiling). Also, when selecting a color, I read some where the clear one stains easily and the yellow turns orange after multiple uses. So I selected the pink one. Good luck ladies! Let me know if you find any great articles or videos about removal. And please share your experiences below.

A Bit too Large

Does it work like it should? Yes indeed! I did snip the bottom pull tab to shorten it but I could still feel the tab poke around. I generally have heavy cycles but with changes to my birth control I’ve had lighter cycles in which I don’t decently fill the large cup. I shall try the smaller size next time. Pros: with practice you can learn your comfort method of how to insert the cup. Glory to 12 hrs of wearable use, great for female active duty members (or any employment/activities) that requires greater than 8hrs of constant work. Since starting menarche I have tried heavy or super absorbency tampons and menstrual fluid ALWAYS surpassed them, even after 1 hour use. The cup does fit snug to catch just about everything. Overall, I’m quite impressed and the cup changed my doubts of how well it was going to work for me. My anxiety level is not as high in fear of bleed through accidents and embarrassing pants spots while wearing the cup as long as I wear a liner. Every woman’s body is built different and personally, I probably won’t ever escape pad/liner free life.

6 periods in & still loving it. As someone with PCOS & Vaginismus, I was incredibly hesitant to try a menstrual cup, as I have never been able to use tampons, I even tried using tampons after a cup & I still can't. My only regret? Is that I did not buy a cup sooner & that my poor teenage self did not know that this option even existed.I am a small person and I opted for model 2 as I have heavy periods, which can be quite painful in early days & I have no idea why, but using a menstrual cup has stopped ANY pains/aches I used to have. I'm serious, my periods are NEVER painful anymore. No more 3am blisteringly hot showers beating down on my uterus as the only distraction from the intolerable pain, hoping that enough exposure will make the pain subside enough so I can ... More6 periods in & still loving it. I sometimes have mild leakage after insertion or on super heavy days where I might not have the opportunity to empty the cup (e.g. at work or overnight - i am a heavy sleeper), however, in conjunction with a re-usable pad, I don't even think twice or get nervous about leaking. SO happy I gave it a shot.

Game changer
21 February 2021

I’ve tried one other cup in the past and it didn’t fit well regardless of what new things I tried, so I got tired of it leaking or feeling uncomfortable. The Lunette cup fits so well, and has been a game changer for my experience. I love it!- I never have to buy tampons, it’s always there so I’m never unprepared when my period comes- it’s so easy to clean. I go backpacking a lot, and it’s been great since it allows me to carry less, and I don’t have to pack out gross used tampons. cleaning in the back country is easy as well. I never have to empty it out more than once a day, so I rarely have to clean it in a public bathroom. When I do find myself in need of cleaning it out in a public space, the wipes have worked great!- I forget it’s there! They have so many informational videos that will help you get used to your cup and how to use it. It does take some getting used to at first, but then you figure it out and it’s a total breeze to use.- I sanitize mine by boiling it for a few minutes before my first use, and after the last use. Otherwise I use the wash you can purchase, which one bottle lasts a long Time. This will save you money, time, and I’m willing to bet a new dose of confidence!

Good product, difficult to use
31 May 2019

I'm going to be honest, I gave the product a chance. I was so scared to try it at first and let me tell you, I don't regret trying it but at the same time, I don't think this product is for me. I'm giving it 4 stars because the product itself was great, it's flexible, soft, and lightweight. It wasn't too big like other menstrual cups are too, which was great. However, I know there's a big learning curve but when I first tried inserting it, I felt it uncomfortably with every moment I made, granted I probably didn't have it in correctly. On top of that, when I tried to urinate with it in, I wasn't able to do so! That was scary in and of itself so I had no choice but to remove it. But it took me 45min and almost a mental breakdown before being able to remove it! I tried all the tips on how to remove it, I tried bearing down, I tried breaking the seal by squeezing it with two fingers, but for the longest time it just wouldn't budge. I think my problem was that for me, I have small "stubby" thumbs genetically so the angle I needed to stick both my thumb and pointer finger in down there was just not working for me, I couldn't grip it. Like I said, I probably didn't have it in correctly, I probably had it sitting too low pressing on my urethra, however, I couldn't imagine pushing it in any further because I barely could get it out when it was low. and I also could NOT imagine being in a rush to urinate and not being able to and then struggling for a good part of an hour to get this cup out. So it's not so much the flaw of the cup, but the flaw of the user. I would only recommend this product if you're very comfortable with inserting your fingers way up into your body (and if you don't have thumbs like me lol)

New purchae, long time product

This is the 7th or 8th of these that I have purchased. I've been using this brand cup for over a decade. While I don't typically need new units over the years I've purchased new ones so I have muliples, back ups, etc. But I still have ever single one. They are so easy to care for, store and use.Just make sure you use the correct cup size, and work to figure out best folds for use for you.

This is my first cup and I love it!
25 October 2020

I bought my menstrual cup in September after doing quite a lot of research into cups through Youtube videos and google searches. I specifically bought Lunette's size 1 because the length was great and the firmness it was right in the middle based on the Put a Cup in it guide. I also love Lunette's refund policy as this was my first cup and I wasn't sure how it was going to go. I've used the cup for two cycles and it has been great! It only took me the first cycle to learn how to insert and remove it properly. (I've learned that closing my eyes while inserting it helps me to relax! Whatever works, though!) I had problems with leakage during my first period (not so much this cycle-thankfully!). But man it has been so relieving not wearing a single pad this period! ... MoreI bought my menstrual cup in September after doing quite a lot of research into cups through Youtube videos and google searches. Also, I usually don't have to change it at work, maybe just during the first day or two when my flow is heavy. I would definitely recommend trying out a Lunette cup, but take the Put a Cup in it quiz first before buying one to get an idea of what size you need. It will take time to get used to the cup, but don't give up!
