I was a little concerned that the 16" screen might be too big but it's not. It's great for editing photos, which is my primary use. Very fast processor, especially for RAW files. I worked for almost two hours editing and it barely used any battery, and I could actually keep the laptop on my lap and it didn't get warm/hot like my old laptop. Another bonus, I watch a lot of baseball using MLBtv. This laptop is great for watching TV or movies, and this laptop's speakers are surprisingly good!

My only regret about my purchase is that I did not buy this thing sooner. This is my first MacBook Pro using Apple silicon and it just screams. Under heavy loads (parallels virtualization running Windows and 8 other Mac-native apps open) you cannot hear the fan. The keyboard is nicer that the previous gen MacBook Pro also and feels smooth. I use this with a CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 Dock with an Apple XDR and LG Thunderbolt Display and the graphics are zippy. This thing in hands-down excellent in every way.

This 16" MacBook Pro M2 was bought to replace a MacBook Pro 2020 with TouchBar.Everything about this laptop is fabulous, the display is crystal clear and amazing definition. Handles multiple applications being open at the same time. No stalling or jitters.Compared to the 2020 its is beyond comparison, even though the 2020 was a fantastic machine. Not having the TouchBar is not as bit a loss as I first imagined. And faster again than the M1 iPad Pro, not the same device I know however comparable on some functions.Would recommend to anyone looking for this level of laptop. It is quite something else.I bought a screen protector and case, and purchased AppleCare at startup via settings>subscriptions.About the same weight as previous 16" model. More varied and ... Saved so much buying it used, the i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and 512GB storage space is more than enough for Apple's Mac OS. Programs run quickly (Photoshop, MS Office, etc.. work well), the battery lasts very long periods of time, and the screen is amazing (vibrant colors and high brightness!). The color Touch Bar is ingenious, I thought would be a gimmick, but I love it! It changes functionality based on the app you are using, making each program even easier to manipulate. This is a solid, quality device. Buying it slightly used on eBay saved me half of what it costs direct from Apple. If you are debating on the i7 processor vs the i9, the i7 delivers incredibly well, I do not regret buying this version.
Seems like a great laptop. However, I use it for video editing, and the first time I had a three-second audio mishap, I blew out one of the speakers. Distorted and nasty sounding now. I bought it used, so I had no avenue of repair. After some research, I see this is not uncommon with this laptop. Some might find having a blown speaker a minor inconvenience, but on a stupid expensive laptop, I would expect more from it than a blown speaker after one relatively minor audio mishap. I bought it used, so I had no avenue of easy repair.
I really wonder how I am the only one experiencing Safari glitches, not fully loaded, unresponsive websites and complete system lockups. At one point the whole UI of the Mac OS X went completely unresponsive. I had to power off and restart. It did not repond to anything.Returned it. Got a new one.It is the same.Macbook pro i9 = Toaster that sounds like a jetplane when it is under load.Mac studio M1 max = Hdmi 60 Hz only and a few important applications do not work.Mac pro M2 pro = Safari glitches. This is reven worse compared to the previous 2.The hardware the OS and the browser comes from the same company. How am I getting this poor experience?
I went with the absolute highest level Macbook Pro available and, man, has it been worth it. Crazy fast and smooth, amazing new display, and just lightning all around. Plus, I didn't realize how much I didn't like the touch bar until I no longer had it. It's just so much better without it. Also love having the HDMI and SD Card ports. And having the magsafe charger back is so much more convenient and safe for buffoons like me that are always getting tripped up on cords. (I never actually took my old pro down with my trips, but I came dangerously close on more than one occasion.)All in all, just so happy. Love it.
I have the base model and for what I use it for, it plenty powerful. The build quality is the best in the world - but we all knew that with Apple products. The mini LED screen is OLED-like. The speakers are have bass?! MacBooks have always had the best laptop speakers in the world. I like the full-sized function row. Touch ID is the best: quick and snappy. If you buy it used, its good value. If you buy it new, not so much. It is expensive at $2,500 plus tax. I was going to buy a new M2 MB Air, but getting the 512gb SSD plus 16gb of RAM wouldve cost about $1,700 plus tax. Thats only ~$300 away from a 16 M1 MBP! Apple is very good at its price ladders!
This laptop does exactly what it needs to do. It's M1 Apple processor delivers high performance that handles high impact programs like photoshop, aftereffects & illustrator. The only thing that keeps this from being a perfect score is the SSD space. I don't even think these laptops should come with 512gb or less anymore. 1TB should be the standard. But of course that's just my opinion. The smaller SSD obviously allows for a slightly better value, and if you're someone who relies on external hard drives then it probably won't be that big of a deal. However, if you plan on migrating data that exceeds half a TB & you want the process to be easy without running programs & opening docs from said external, or relying on a bunch of cloud-like devices... then you're ... Either way, it's a great machine so far. I also love that some aspects have reverted back to the older thicker macbook pros, with more of an emphasis on maximizing side port options & less on trivial bells & whistles for design's sake. Again, great buy whether new, refurbished or used.
after 40 yrs of Microsoft foolishness I finally have something the works, is fast and unobtrusive. my pc takes forever to boot, rummage thrudaily upgrades required to keep a sinking ship floating. yeah apple has just as painful aspects but the point is it works. 40 yrs of ms thinking leaves deeply worn logical approaches to computing, but it is new and challenging and keeps me off the street. Also I've enjoyed the superior, flawless BH service for many years. absolute consistency!
