The Mackie HM-4 is a wonderful headphone amp, perfect for tracking with multiple musicians. I bought one for a session I did with an acoustic guitarist where we were recording live vocals, acoustic guitar, and drum machine. The HM-4 worked perfectly, allowing us each to have our own individual headphone volume. I did not notice any coloration to the material we were monitoring and I hope to have my HM-4 for a very long time maybe forever.

The mackie headphone amp sounds great as a preamp used with sonicake ir amp selector you can get a brighter tone purchased a roland pro guitar cable plugged it in to the mackie headphone amp and sent cable to a samson dibox now getting great tone with little bearsonic tone mixer I am using 10w roland cube amp but using headphones not getting such a good tone as the mixer is passive you don't need to power it probably sound better with a mackie mixer

I bought this item to solit the input and one directly goes to the monitor speaker and the other to the mixer. The input comes from the ipad. When I connect the ipad directly to the mixer, the volume is perfectly fine. When I use this device, I should set the volume to the max and then in my feeling the output is distorted. It does the split i was looking dor and I have the control on each output. But there is definitely no amplification and rather it attenuates the input as I can see
I loved this product. I first bought it to split the output of my keyboard into a headset as well as the mixer. Then I discovered it would take the output of my laptop and produce a great sound out of my 200 amp speakers for watching movies. Then after only one year it quit working. This is the second Mackie electronic product that has failed in a relatively short period of time.
One of my outputs got real finnicky and doesn't always wanna work very well. Lots of crackle. But, it's a pretty solid headphone amp if you need some extra juice for yourself or wanna connect multiple pairs of headphones to a single source. I don't regret buying it. I've used it an awful lot.
I phone up the shop to confirm some small details - which they were brilliant in dealing with and ordered online.The HM4 arrived and it’s perfect. Affordable and built very sturdily - like a tank - as Mackie day. It happily drives headphones at a decent volume (which is usually an issue with cheaper headphone amps) and it retains the fidelity of the signal as it splits and sends onto the headphones.A good purchase and very happy with the service and product.

My stereo headphone jack didn't sound great for listening to vinyl. I needed this headphone amp so I would have volume control. This amp sounds great. I can listen to records with great sound quality because of this!
